Thanks NIck!!! The old girl sure bring's back good and bad memories. Good memory right out of High school got my first custom job with dad's 915. Bad memory the engine cowling slammed down on my head checking the oil in the motor in a wind storm, cracked my jaw bone and teeth and knocked me cold and ended up rolling off the side to the ground OUCH!!! But i would do it all over again in a minute lol. There are two brother's who are Japanese not far from me who raised 800 acre's of alfalfa seed and ran only JD equipment and they had 4 IH 915's they harvested seed with. They retired in 2013 and i went to their farm sale and asked why they had IH harvesters instead of the JD and they said you will never find a better combine than a International.
Spent a lot of time combining beans and picking corn in our IH 915. It had the 6-row corn head. Seeing this video brings back great memories of growing up on the farm. Thanks for sharing!
Thats a nice old combine. I love the old combines... the sound of them running, the simplicity and don't forget the thrill of driving them. Last fall we took our old 510 Massey out of retirement to help take the canola off. it chugged along without any problems unlike our JD7720.
I spent many hours riding in a 815 as a kid with a custom operator always wanted one but ran a 715 gas for years then a 1440 presently. Great machines.
You have these brand new 500 thousand dollar combines and they are nice.. but I still love seeing old iron starting up and still working!! I dont know.. maybe its just me?
they're nice until you get a repair bill or monthly payment lol, old iron is dirt cheap and its already paid for itselfs thousands of times over. they have their place just like everything in this world

On farm I grew up we had 1968 Mc-cormick International with Farmall H gas basic motor and was fun get going on Cold storage starts had sit for 6 months each we only for Grain to combine each year! We had put A bottle of Fuel Injection Cleaner in fuel tank full & add 2 gallons Desiel fuel to 10 gallons of 89 octane gas in combine fuel tank when working in Hot Summer Season in Ontario weather! How get start is have out gear in Neutral selection also turn key on on ignition switch to get fuel pump to updraft carb also wait stop click fast to 3 second clicks and pull choke out with 1/4 throttle then put 1/4 choke in 5mins when started up on key ignition switch too ! When 5 mins put choke cable in dash off selection too! Go use on feilds crops to combine !
we had the 715 with rice paddy tires. this combine i kept the door open so i could smell for burning belts before its too late. combine so tall would'nt fit under the 12ft high trusses in machine shed. i still have many of the belts, elevator chain & that double #55 roller chain that drives the feeder house or head i can't remember. ours had a tailings inspection door under the seat so you could drive, inspect grain and drink mtn dew without stopping. the few farms that have these put snow blowers on there
Often thought a 915 would be a good fit for a mixed farmer that needed a second combine and already had an axial flow combine. To bad they were like hens teeth by the 90's in easter Saskatchewan.
On paper the john deere 9600 was suppose to spank our claas 108 (also sold in red paint as 8460 massey Ferguson). Salesman didn't know what to say when our 108 out did the 9600 lol. On papaer it should have spanked the 108. This was back in 1993 both combines were new.

That must be a later model low pro 915. I worked for a guy 30 years ago that had a high pro model, great machine with tons of power, 6cyl diesel. In fact one fall we ran it on 5cyl as a valve spring broke so he just bypassed the fuel from that injector. It still had more power than the other 915 we ran with the v8 gasser. We ran a 20' 820 flex in beans on the diesel and 15' 820 flex on the gas. The diesel would go through wet spots with the bigger head than the gasser with the smaller head and get stuck. We ran side x side with a 7700jd and he couldn't keep up either.
Nice old 915. There were a few guys that had them in our area but the 914s were far more popular. Not many guys around here didn't have a 914 at some time. Could build a battle ship out of the ones still sitting in the bush somewhere.
That's a very nice old IH 915 you have there. I sure would not part with it if it were mine. I grew up on a large for the time farm in Iowa in the 60's and 70's, and I would take an old school combine like that mechanical IH 915 over these new electronic combines any day. We ran John Deere's on our farm, but I always thought the IH machines of that time period were sharp looking.

Just finished wheat harvest here in Kansas yesterday. Hard red winter. It was a poor stand and so-so yield. There were a few trucks of good wheat to keep for seed, but the rest went to town straightaway.
Sharp machine! Been shedded it’s whole life I bet. Those 414 motors run forever, I have a 1066 with a zillion hrs. On it . It starts immediately even in cold wx. I never run a 915 but used to b a lot of them around here back in the day!!!
I'm in Kindersly to visit.The crops up here are way behind Montana's. If we get some hot weather we will be cutting winter wheat in 2 weeks. We had 7 inches of rain since seeding. I know you have had it dry. But remember my fellow farmer. Every day it doesn't rain is one day closer to the day it will rain. I had golf ball size hail hit my Durham. It was 95 percent headed out.
I had a 915 back in the 70’s worst combine I have ever owned. It was way better at baling itself so full it would take two days to clean out. There is a row of bolts along the front of the shaker pan that I could not keep in it. Thought seriously of welding it solid in hopes it would burn up. Ha ha had one year and sold it, we all had a big party when it left the yard.

That 915 looks like something a two armed man could run... The 7700 took an octopus to run!! Never ran a 915, but been in the field next to one, I had to play octopus with a 7700... She sounds great!!! Sell it quick!!! Before she loses a bearing!!!! Our 1480 ran perfect! Picker it up used, had the local combine guru check it out and show us what to do... He said he'd never seen or heard a smoother running machine.... 23 tach hours later, tick tick tick..... Yup... Are a bearing, filled everything full of shavings. $12k and four days later, she was back in the field!!!! DT466.

It’s in pretty good shape for a old machine live the turbo whistle we used to run 3 914s back in the day probably could of doubled the money you got for it if it was a green one lol
Never seen many 915s. For the Red River Valley they were underpowered. Seen more 815s and L2/L3s. None really liked the long straw, cutting heads then it was a different story.

Around our area there were many 915s ,I didn't know much about them because we ran White combines.
