After some time thinking about why nostalgia is so addictive. I came to the conclusion that it is because it crystalizes the best memories that you ever had in an inexorable and eternal moment in time. You get the sadness because it is unreachable, and you will not touch it again in this life. But you feel good because it reminds you that there is a place somewhere where beauty never fades. A place where everyone you ever loved or cared about will be playing in a beach colored by the evening sun.

This song gives me hella good vibes and memories. I remember hearing this when Artzie just uploaded it, 6yrs ago maybe. In that time, I was very close with my three friends, I had my dad and I was young. I have fond memories of that time: me and my friends went to the gym every morning, eat something, then waited for the night just to go and play retro games or some ps2 games; that was my every day and I remember feeling complete and happy. Now, I don't have my dad and me and my friends went separate ways, but I still love them with all my heart.

Ahh I do remember those old summer afternoons I spent with my girlfriend way back when I was still in highschool. Those long walks that we shared as the sun is setting, the chitchat and jokes that we shared as we walk, the food trips that we make before we go home. Such happy times it was. We recently broke up when we started going to college. This song reminds me that it is true that people won't stay forever, but memories will.
Damn I envy the people who grew up listening to music like this. Like my mum, she's rlly into 80's-90's Mexican Music (since we're Mexican) But she also likes 1990's-80's Japanese music. And sometimes I just listen from my room to whatever she's listening to, feeling all nostalgic for no reason. I was born in 2001, so there's really nothing to feel nostalgic about??? haha.
These songs create memories of things that never happened. I was born in 2001 as well, but when I listen I remember driving through a city in a drophead car through the city during an 80's summer evening.
i think it's because this old vaporwave/city pop shares many elements with western 80s hits that most of us grew up around because of our parents. so even though these eastern artists are speaking foreign languages, are voices we haven't heard before, & have their own unique musical touch, they use a lot of 70s-90s elements very prevalent in the music we're used to. it's the perfect mix of nostalgia & novelty; living vicariously in the 80s through our parents' music & memory, but attaching our own memories & emotions to songs we found on our own.
They sound so similar to mexican music my mom used to listen. This brings me back memories of her.

It's amazing how this music brings up nostalgic feelings out of the clear blue. It reminds me of growing up in the 90s and the world appearing as a massive place of mystery, living fantasy, awe, and endless possibilities.
Maybe its just me, but everytime I listen to this, I get this overwhelming feeling like I have the urge to reminisce about some time in the past from when I was younger that I long for to return to but can't and it makes me feel nostalgic and melancholy at the same time.

When really everyone is different and has their own reasons. Just the fact that you need to clarify "not for weeaboo reasons" appears as if you have a "normal" reason for doing so. Nothing against you, but I like to bring that up to help people feel more comfortable for being themselves, whatever it is :)

I remember listening this when I went to college. High school sucked but I was now moving to Idillic coastal beach town in the honors college of a good school. I knew I was gonna make the best of it and reinvent myself.
And I did. I changed completely, no longer a not-worth-a-damn shut in, but an outgoing guy with lots of good friends, connections, and a promising career ahead of him. And this song always feels nice to listen to, because It found me right at the hinge of when life became meaningful. For all I know it could be an absolutely awful song, but the memory is so nostalgic and fun I’d never know the difference

It is wonderful that nostalgia can be sympathized with people from various countries beyond Japanese. Until around 1988-1994, even in Japan this genre was commercialized almost every month as an omnibus for anime and games. Also, it disappeared from the front market due to the Hanshin earthquake and the AUM subway attack incident instead of the bubble economy collapse.

I remember back in 2017 I listened to this imagining a trip to Japan during summer days. I did that trip in July 2018. Now I go back here to think back on these real memories as these were just as good as I was imagining they would be
