I have to admit this is a rather fascinating product. I think it will be an interesting tool to get people to know the bare bones rules of the game, and if Konami was to continue with this, they could probably do another two player starter set with one deck, focusing on fusion and another with ritual. And I do like how the comic gives a scripted Duel but I will throw this out there just in case anyone was wondering you don’t know which deck is going to win. Yes, there are certain things in the duel that is already pre-planned but once it reaches a certain point where the decks are shuffled at that point. It’s anyone’s game because by then both players should have a grasp on the basic rules.
These starter decks are meant for returning and new players. The "random" feel of the deck list is for players to recall certain names and remember the cards from playing in the past or the TV show. It looks random to current and veteran players but the nostalgia is what makes it a good marketing product to get people back in. And 2 "decks" for $20 is not a bad buy. The other structure decks usually start for $12 so 2 for $20 isn't bad.
There are two reasons I'll be buying this, nostalgia and Zeus.
Every structure deck should come with the rule book to teach new players how to play or just to have on the side to confirm rules.
The fact people are complaining that this doesn’t have meta defining cards is a dogwater take and I hope you enjoy that L you’re holding. We haven’t had a starter deck in years and these are always meant for people who don’t know how to play. Not every set has to have staple reprints.
I mean it's a starter deck for a reason and not everyone is interested in meta/rogue playing locals. Some people just want to play casually with friends. I was introduced to yugioh with the first 5ds starter deck and back then at this age nobody played meta decks of Goat format outside

Its a starter deck for new players. These decks were not ment for veterans. I think they are perfect for teaching my son since it slows the game down and he can actually learn
I love how it's this cursed-looking mix of goat and extremely modern cards. 😂
I love how the rule book is black and white just how XYZs are black and Synchros are White. Nothing crazy but looks fun to play with someone that doesn’t know how :)
And then they get into the current format and don’t even last one turn with these cards. I’m not expecting a full meta deck but if you’re going to play dark magician in 2024 then you’re better off building a full DM archetype deck.
i would still buy three of each cause there are cards in those deck that i haven't pulled myself that i need for other decks.
This starter deck isn't half bad. For a starter deck, it has a lot of decent extra deck cards. I don't think we ever had a starter deck with decent extra deck cards before. Not to mention that IMO, the reloaded starter deck released 10 years ago in the XYZ were terrible even back then because it didn't have extra deck cards or even good main deck cards. The Kaiba one had zero good cards and the yugi deck only had mirror force but that card was already power creep and about to be replaced by the new mirror force cards anyway.
The last Starter Deck were the Slifer and Obelisk, back in June 2021. Over 2 years, 7 Months and 9 days… I’ll be picling this bad boy up in Walmart tomorrow as it seems that when it comes to trading cards, they release their supplies one day in advance.

I think this is product is good for what it is and its purpose, this clearly ain't a product designed for people who go to tournaments with decks worth more than the prices they give out 🤣So it's no wonder the meta players say this is garbage 😂 forgetting this is a starter deck not meant for tournament play and also the first starter decks were mostly vanilla monsters and structure decks of old were around this strength, not every product needs to be able to top tournaments straight out of the packaging 🙄This game needs products that are starting points and not only products design for meta players, no newcomer wants to jump into a game in the deep end right away 🤪😜
How do you feel about a master pack similar to the master pack in master duel? A pack with tons of cards from all sets from LOB all the way to sets from about 2 years behind current sets (to avoid cannibalism of newer sets) just imagine opening a pack and pulling a few random GX commons, a stardust dragon super rare, and then a secret rare Nibiru! Every cane can come in any rarity! A chance for a common excess code talker with a ghost rare ash blossom from the same master pack makes me drool! It’ll also bring older cards easier and cheaper to get, especially the ones that have an errata but have not been printed with the new text

Judging off the extra decks you’d think that the main deck would be better? I mean you’re including divine arsenal Zeus in the deck yet half the monster lineup is DM era vanilla monsters?
I get this is for new players but the main decks have barely any strategy or interactions beyond caveman yugioh. If I want to teach someone XYZs my old super quant deck would be a much better training deck and it’s closer to the current format then freaking launcher spider.

@@jjasuka the game is expensive, sure. It has complex mechanics, sure but neither makes the game unplayable. To be unplayable means no one can play it. It’s currently being played, it’s just in a bad/ broken state where Konami has to address the issues that would allow more people to enjoy the game. I understand being upset and you should be, but card games need an influx of new people all the time and this is the ONE time in a very long while they actually released something decent to get more people to play. If you wanna boycott the game, then just don’t play it anymore, Digimon honestly will treat you better.

One of the worst products ever released in the history of the game. Yes it does teach you the most basic of rules but it’s not at all an accurate representation of the current game. The cards themselves are completely worthless minus the Zeus.
Getting someone new interested in the game and teaching them about all the complex advanced combos/rules of the "current" game are not the same thing and should never be confused as such. This product is meant to bring new players in not scare them away.

@linexmc2121 that's not true at all. I started back 2023 with a red eyes fusion deck I made in 2016. The entire game changed. I stuck it out with my crap deck and learned. Getting destroyed doesn't make the average person quit.
Also, no links and pendulums to teach new players. Modern yugioh is way too fast for someone coming back or from other tcg games, a lot of cards are just old and useless tbh

The decks aren't that good if you look at what's all in them despite the good reprints of a couple of cards. I have the feeling that the product might not do that well mainly because of there only being a few cards in it that people will be wanting meaning it's better just to get the singles from it on tcg player.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention Rituals. But I am glad that you acknowledged that there are scammers on UA-cam pretending to be you, and with the advent of AI, that could just mean more bogus accounts trying to pretend to be you sadly. :(
But overall, yeah, I say this is a very good product, hopefully Konami will keep it up. :)

I feel like this product would do way better if they did a pendulum deck that have all the summoning mechanics in it to teach the new players the game. D/D/D and Pendulum Magicians would of been way better than a mix of random cards. Also on top of that they could also put in Zeus if they chose to. Also D/D/D and Pendulum Magicians can also show off (in a way but not really) a spam type of deck. This imo some will pick it up and play it a bit. Then they go in to a actual duel and just run off with their tails in-between their legs.
I feel like this product is only worth getting is for the reprints that’s about it cause so far nobody likes this outside the cards

Yeah Lets get a new Summoning. Just gonna make a BS mechanic called "Slap" Summoning! where you slap a monster on top of another to the next level and gain abilities based on the number of slapped cards under it. Similar to XYZ Except its a NEW Monster Card Color Red that belongs in the main deck. (This is a Bullshit idea I'm Not actually promoting.)

This product is trash if they want people to learn give them a proper deck, not a bunch of trash singles that dont even go together. You be better off going into someone's bulk cards, grabbing a handful of cards and learning to play that way. I almost bought this today but didn't know what was in it. Watching this made me happy i didnt buy it. TY for posting this video.
