    I JUST bought a newer Ford crown victoria p71 and noticed it has stiff steering. I found fluid on the pressure lines during an oil change, but didn't know what the hoses were for. This video has perfect timing for my situation!

      How can I tell if they’re bullshitting?
      I just went in for a free inspection from the Honda dealer I got my car from. No perceivable problems with the power steering except the fluid needs to be changed and was overfilled, no noise or anything and dealer tells me I need to to replace the whole power steering rack.
      I guess I gotta take to a regular mechanic.

    Hey guys, I’m a DIYer and I’m having a difficult time...after putting my old steering rack back on my car (long story but it was still good when I took it off), I turned the key in the ignition while I was flushing the power steering system when the steering wheel turned violently to lock. So hard it threw me into the passenger seat lol....any clue as to what’s going on? I suspect bad power steering pump 🤔

    Is there a seal at the other end near the gear box? I have a leak at the other end. It’s not a major leak but the boot is wet. I took the boot off and I didn’t see any fluid dripping out, I’m trying to figure out if there is a seal or which seal might be wearing out at the other end near the gear box.

    Can some power steering fluid be clear? I have a small leak (smaller than in the video) and it's basically clear, but does have a very slight slick feel to it. It also doesn't smell. I recently had the whining sound when turning the wheel so i checked my fluid and it was low. I mean...LOW. So I filled it up. Enough time hasnt passed to determine if it is indeed the power steering that is leaking, but everything else in my car seems fine in terms of fluid. It does seem though that the leak has very slightly increased though, possibly due to adding so much extra fluid. not sure yet. (and i know brake fluid can be clear so i am checking that daily watching it like a hawk to see if i am losing fluid.) I was just wondering cause 90 percent of sites/videos claim power steering fluid is generally red. Oh, and my car is 22 years old, if that matters

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  3 роки тому

      +geddoe316 Thanks for watching! Power steering fluid usually has color to it, but if it's loosing fluid like that then it's definitely leaking!

    Hello. I'm a female and I'm not a mechanic. I know I have a power steering fluid leak. Resevoir is empty (because it's all over my driveway). I went and bought some fluid and a mechanic that was at the parts store said he'd like to do a good deed and come and look at it. I asked if he was certified... he said yes. Before I bought the power steering fluid (in order to search for the leak source), I looked under my car and noticed that both of my sway bars were hanging free (not hooked up). Well, when this mechanic looked for the leak, he noticed that the sway bars were not hooked up. I asked him if he was interested in fixing them. He told me that replacing the sway bars was a large job... I told him to leave. Thank God there are people like you who try to help people like me. If I hadn't watched a video on replacing sway bars, I may have believed him. He really could have taken advantage of me. I try to figure things out on my own because I don't have a large bank account, I try to fix things if I'm possibly able to. Replacing a sway bar is easy. I can't say that my leak will be. I still have to find the source. I'm in the middle of laying a new vinyl plank floor in my entire house with no transition strips... half way there. People can do a lot if they just try. Thanks for the video. You're awesome.
