In double check, the king HAS to move out of check, vs other checks where you could cover up, capture the piece, or move the king. That’s one little mental shortcut I use.
What other way even is there to see it as?
Exept knight ya cant block a night
@@MD_Suprim Obviously no other way, it's a mental shortcut to save thinking time in bullet/blitz. Why are you even replying with this senile shit.
@@Kaids-comics Neither an elephant
@@Kaids-comics you kill it.
"Haha you lost your queen"
"Think again"
I lost my queen? No, you lost your kingdom.
Bro king is in check with the knight also
And the knight is covering another square through which king can move
Therefore the one with black cannot take both at the same time hence it is a mate
Check with a knight. Its move or kill but there is also the queen check. Impossible to defend this move

“Haha you lost your queen”
“Haha you lost your king”
Wow that’s a really cool checkmate, I’ve never seen that
I love this type of mate, literally mated by two hanging pieces
its a discovery checkmate to me😊
I think this is literally the only kind of checkmate I've ever achieved. I've always thought doing it with just one piece was much more magical and clever.
That is the sickest double check mate as both pieces can be taken!
If you take the queen with the bishop the knight is still attacking the king and if you take the knight with the queen then the queen is still attacking the king.
@@khobr-yp4knthezetes means that you’re apparently putting them both enprise, even though they aren’t really, due to the double check not allowing captures. Often the piece uncovering the long check with a queen or rook is the only one that is put enprise, so this is pretty rare. The fact they both seem to be attacked makes it all the more beautiful.
You guys both say the same thing and are both right
This is not a double check, this is a checkmate.
Who thinks GM igor is the best internet chess teacher?
edit:thx for 100 likes :)
The best chess teacher hands down imo. There are a lot of pros in chess but they weren't as good at teaching as they're playing by themselves. I'm sure others will have some names for the best teacher title but for me, it's GM Igor

double check is the strongest move
Sadly it's hard to do
I once accidentally double checkmated in a 10 second game no increment
@@MrDetectiv-uw8vc I always delivered accidental checkmates back in my rookie days.
Formula: Double check = discover check + check from the moved piece
The horse winnying.was a nice touch. ;)
It's not checkmate because it's a double check, it's because the king has no safe squares to move to. Just to clear that last bit up.
I did this yesterday ACCIDENTALLY and had to think for a minute about how sick it is
My brain is about to pop💀
This took international ballistic missile to a whole new level 😂😂😂
I have done this but by accident 😂… i tried so many times to repeat the moves again after the match vs other opponents by i couldn’t
Today I learned the only good reason to play the King's Gambit.
This is beautifully brutal
Call an ambulance...but not for me
Double check can allow unprotected pieces to check, it more often appears in chess puzzles than actual games
it's not because two pieces are in check -- it's because the king has no legal move to escape.
Yeah, this video kind of focuses on the wrong part of that attack. If the Knight had gone D6, that also would have been a double check, but not a checkmate, as the King could have escaped to D7. From F6 there was not only a double check, but the Queen stopped an escape to E7, and the Knight prevented the escape to D7.
double check isn't always a checkmate, but in this case it is
the only way to double check, which isn't mentioned here, is through a revealed check where the piece that was moved to reveal a check is also checking.
That's a Thanos move right there
U can do smothered mate with this😊
A horse blocking a path of other piece moves & gives check along with now unblocked piece.
Looks like a mate that I will get for sure
Good timelapse
great now I'll use knowledge to my advantage
Wow I love this one! Gotta try it 😂
Only you can educate with such amazing chess content and with a high entertainment factor, Igor.
It isn't that black would cover the check, it is that black would capture the attacking piece, except that there are two of them. So even though either could be captured, neither can be.
For the first, I defeat stockfish lvl3 with this
... Bxf3 violates "In the opening move every piece only once." - especially if it is exchanged off anyway. If black developed his other bishop from f8 the double check would be harmless.
That just isnt correct. The king isnt checkmated if it is under a double attack stop the cap. The king has to move away in this case it is checkmate since the knight is also blocking a potential escape square.
"Oh no, my queen!"
New knowledge every day
Wow you made a discovered check trying to check
Beautiful
this was beautiful
also because the only place where the king would be able to move is blocked by knight
I remember being shoked by this move once. It took me a while to understand why i lost...
I’m wondering if this would work against the Falkbeer🤔
Believe it or not this situation appeared after some extra knight moves from black in a game in a league in germany. So even solide club players can he fooled like this.
Awesome 😂 never seen this
i will try to do this
Good luck

Discover check!
That is beautiful.
Bro my teacher did this to me the other day i was fumbled so hard
kings gambit? he didnt even sacrifice the king!
This checkmate is hard to see tbh
Madt move.... lovely
YoOoo, I've never seen that. That is dope
Me who did triple checks more than twice 💀💀💀
A double check isn't a tactic. It's also not overlooked that much I would say.
I'd like to hear your reasoning why it's one of the most overlooked tactics in chess🤔
My mind: Bishop + Queen + King = Double Check
What about TRIPLE check?
What are if the opponent plays d5 ?
Também tem o triple cheque
Why do i always plan for this ? Without knowing it
Me learning it from my father 🗿
Is a triple check possible?
And what if my opponent knows how to play?
Hi Igor im iegor nice to meet you
I don't understand. Isn't that just what a checkmate is?
Not necessarily. In this case, yes, but if the queen or bishop weren't there the king could move. So a double check just checks the king on two lines, meaning you can't intercept with another piece and you're always forced to move the king.
I don't understand you not understanding
U move a peice, and it's discovered check, but the peice u moved also checks the king
I guess because I thought that was the only way to win by giving the king nowhere to go
@@Etchfamilyguy the can still move sometimes, that's why is called double check not checkmate cuz it's not always checkmate
The pawn can attach knight 😂
I did 3 checks
I need you to say it slowly
yea
Who played this move? It's really impressive
How poorly can I explain it?
Revealed check + piece moved also checks.
The only way out is to move the king, if you can.
I lost 500 elo tyin this tactic
Besides a direct check+discovered check, it's also possible (though I don't think would be useful) to deliver two discovered checks by en passant
Please explain more thoroughly
How can you deliver 2 discovered checks by en passant?
@@betonkevero6823example position is like this, rook on a1, pawn on a5, black king on a7, if black goes b5, axb5, rook and pawn both check the king. it isnt practical, but hey, its fancy isnt it
@@dan-us6nkcheck my comment above for the example position
@@dan-us6nk The basic idea is that en-passant is the only move to remove two pieces from their starting square, except casting, so it is the only possible way to reveal two discovered checks.
An example is black pawn at g7, black king at h6, white bishop at c1 checking the king, white rook at h1. Now black plays g5 to block the check, and white plays hxg6+ (en passant), which reveals the check from both the bishop and the rook
King to d7
covered by the knight
Kd7
I did this double check once but the difference is I was black hahaha
Until they play d4 and its fucked
I thought double checks were in 4 player. This is just a discovered mate.
Double check is any time you set up a situation where the king is being checked by two pieces. This is not a "just" discovered mate. A discovered mate can exist without a double check and a double check can be executed without it resulting in a checkmate. The beauty of this is that it is both and both the direct check and the discovery are necessary to get the #.
No... They can take with knite
If they take with the knight the queen is still checking the king. that's what makes a double check so powerful, the only way to get out of it is to move your king
Does the black bishop on G4 NEED to capture the white knight for this to work?
No
KD2?
Knight still reaches that square I believe
@@user-xo4uh9ty5vyou’re right my fault I didn’t realize
It's not a double check but a discovered check? Please help... 😂😢
It's a double check AND a discovered check
no what?
Black king can move forward to knight
Dude he is blocked by the queen
@@MrDunnwall the square which I was referring to will also have check from knight 😅
@@saxena_aks correct, its mate
Hello 🤗. Im just beginning to learn chess. It this case how is that check. Im so confused. Can someone explain it to me. ❤️🩹Thank you 😊.
It's check because the knight and queen are attacking the king. If a piece attacks the king, tha the king is in check. Hope that helps
Oof
😳
I mean at that point wouldn’t just be called a discovered checkmate?
Not really because you move and check with the knight
You can call it whatever you want, but it is a double check. It happens to be checkmate also.
Is there a triple check?
That's impossible
also black cant go d7. its why
I'm sire evryone knows how a knight works dude !
@@pokejohn9398let him do his thing!
@@pokejohn9398yeah but the video makes it seem like a double check is automatically checkmate
There can never be triple check in one move needs theoretical explanation.
The king cannot be in check when it's the opponent's turn. Only one piece can be moved and it can only allow one piece to make a discovered attack.
I once tried to think of a scenario where you could do it with a pawn promotion, but it doesn't work. You're still only able to reveal one check while delivering a revealed check.
