The best electric SUV so far? Kia EV9 UK review

- The Kia EV9 is finally here and I've spent a few days with one on Scottish roads so I can tell you if it's worth the hefty £65,000 price tag. What's the real-world range? Can tall people fit in the third row? Is the boot big enough? I'll eventually answer all these questions as I shiver my way through a full interior and exterior walkaround and take it for a drive.

Of all of the EV9 reviews that have dropped out of embargo, this is by far may favouite. More useful than the majority, and amusing too.
Ah thanks Paul, really appreciate the kind comment. It's always hard to stand out when lots of videos come out at once, so I just tend to be a sarcastic idiot about it 😂

Price looks spot on - slightly cheaper than a Discovery fully-loaded which is what I'm trading in for mine. Cheaper than VW ID Buzz (and a lot nicer and not a van) and cheaper than VW Multi-van. Those are both bigger/more practical inside, but the Buzz is 5 seater still until eventually the 7 seater is available, but all the flexible seating is Multivan only. Oh, and a LOT cheaper than the EX90 and probably 2 years earlier than it arriving in the UK.
Not the only 3 row EV. The EQB
Vw multivan is in nice spec more expensive, but as a huge family car LWB VW ID Buzz is much better car, apart from steering wheel buttons which should be real and for real. Great review as always:)

Good stuff thanks. It reminds me of a WW11 German Horch 901 staff car but with a nicer choice of colours and a British number plate.
😂 That's a sentence no one has ever written before. I'm not sure I see the similarity to be honest, but I'll see if I can get the Horch on the channel for a full review. I hear good things about the in-funk-tainment system. Not many anschlusses per gallon though.
Tim, you know that crisp packet, I think it's a plot by somebody because I find them following me around too :) As to the EV9 on the price, you are right but what an odd world car prices have entered into to say that.
Hi, about the eye-monitoring system, do u know if u can turn that off? And how about if u wear sunglasses, is it gonna beep non-stop ’cause it can’t detect your eyes?
Waiting to test drive this. Want 7 seat electric, not sure it’ll fit on my drive though!! 😂

Love the look of this car, generally really like the value for money, bang per buck products and this is no exception .... BUT £60k+! I am quite firmly in the target demographic I would say, middle england, young family, good job with very decent pay and a wife with similar, yet still it just seems an obscene amount of money.
Volvo EX90 has 3 rows of seats too

Nice looking car but new prices are way out of my reach now. Glad I had my new cars when my income and car prices made it possible. I'll spend my spare cash on holidays diving in the Red Sea 😁

Yeah, I'd be interested to know. It's usually about doing whatever Euro NCAP demands to get a 5* crash test. Picking up a new BMW M2 soon, apparently that has the same speed limit warning bong...

£72k..... at that price it really should come with air suspension as standard.
Yeah, I wonder if that'd fix the high-frequency damping problems. To be fair, air suspension in big SUVs tends to make me and my passengers feel sick after a while.

Quite glad that a) I don’t need a car that size and b) that I couldn’t afford it anyway. If that’s the future then ‘aye we’re doomed’ to continue the Scottish theme. That the design is by LEGO and and it weighs 2.7t 😂😢😮 oh dear me.

Honestly it's getting a little bit silly. That said, I've spent a week driving a Ford Ranger Raptor which weighs less than this EV9, but it *felt* a lot heavier than the Kia@@robc5955

It’s far too small, should be at least 3000kg and cost £150K. And the mileage should be sub 150 miles…..I am disappointed.
Alot of cheap plastic for £72k, that said it’ll be worth £25k in 12 months though
