Henry thank you! to answer your question Yes, even Bob Dylan one of my favs said he made a deal to the "man" that gives you the abilities, He also accept the Christian theologian thought and peached...If I could play like Eric Clapton I would think that I had accomplished a life achievement seems like you're already there Henry you should feel very blessed thank you for being such a great teacher

Nice! Son House was a notorious drunkard. He claimed RJ went away for 6 months and came back a genius, but others say it was more like 2 years. I suspect two years of dedicated practice would make quite a difference in anyone's playing. He supposedly went to Arkansas and learned from Ike Zimmerman or Zinnerman. RJ never claimed he sold his soul, but Tommy Johnson did!
