I recently rewatched Demon Slayer and definitely couldn't stop thinking that they literally picked the most insane people in Japan to be Hashira, so I enjoyed that scene here.
That's because the author started with their personalities instead of their backstory. When writing characters, you can start with either and then continue with the other, but this can lead to some ...gaps in logic.

The most relatable part of him for me is that he wants to live up to his “Gramps“ expectations even though he’s scared and only good at one thing. But he still tries because he really loves him and is thankful for his support.
