17/20 I'm 62 and completed school 45 yrs ago with a GED, I think i did ok
"Your Job" and "Murphy's Law" made us lol. Also, embarrassed how few I knew.
I think "Your Job" is a perfectly acceptable answer to the question. I don't really see how it's different from the "correct" response.
OK, you got me with the “Your job” answer to the question about going along with a group consensus. I laughed so hard I saw stars and got lightheaded.
Hahaha, glad it made you laugh! I bet it happens way too often everywhere though. But as long as it is not “your job” you’re all good 😂 Thanks a lot for your comment, cheers!
yeah, I loved that one!
18 out of 20....I was most surprised by the diamond as the best conductor of heat.
Very interesting quiz .. learning is fun. At age 60 living in Canada. Highest education completed , gr.8 ... and scored 50%. Happy with that , even though would be a fail. Cheers ! Thanks for this.
i'm 25 and have an engineering degree and got about 50% too! youre clearly incredibly smart, i hope i can continue being as curious about the world and science as i grow older as you are
Happy with getting 11.Would be happier fining other quizzes as well put together as this one.Very enjoyable and brain testing.(remembering, lol)
Glad you enjoyed! 11 is a very good score on this challenging quiz, well done! Thank you for your nice comment I appreciate it :)
18 correct. I am a retired science teacher. I should have got the moon size, I suppose, but it was poorly written. Is "size" diameter, volume, or mass? I knew that the moon's gravity is about 1/6 that of Earth 1/6 is 17%.
The chromosome question seems quite trivial. We should know the number of chromosomes of every species? And there are no principles to apply to guess the answer, because chromosome numbers are largely arbitrary.
18/20....and I used to be a high school physics teacher! I struggled with a couple of the biology questions.
What was your major? Mine was chemistry. But also studied sports medicine.
Me too, I was a math and physics major. Biology, not so much. I got a lucky 16 - Pidgeons, really?
I had the opposite experience. It’s been too long since I’ve thought about physics. (13/20 correct)
@@tbpcok I guessed Strawberry because I was at a total loss and thought it might be a trick question - was shocked to see it at number 2!
Also a Physics Teacher for 40 years but I only scored 16.
Good quiz. And I appreciate the explanations along with the correct answer. Keep it up.
Hello! Thanks for playing and for your comment, appreciated!
Finally, a decent quiz on YT! I got about half right. I suck at biology. Pretty good with chemistry and physics.
This should be called a life science quiz. The physical science and math questions were trivial.
Nice questions. Even more, I like the music 🙂
12/20 But got five of the first seven wrong so a bit of a comeback :) Good channel
By volume, the 2% is best for the moon. The question doesn't specify what we're measuring. And by mass, it would be 1.2%
Several other questions were technically incorrect or ambiguous. There was nothing I could not answer before consulting the options except most chromosomes per organism. (trivia)
19 of 20.
Measuring volume compared to the Earth, if the Earth was a 4 liter bottle of water for example, the moon would be a 1 liter bottle. So you think the moon is 1/50 the size of Earth by your comment, not sure where you get that the Moon's mass is 1.2% of Earths either, it is easy to work out the mass of the moon, just a basic equation.
@@Jinn174 Really? What's that basic equation? If you don't know the moon's density, you're gonna have fun with that.
The moon's mass has been measured in other ways. I'm quoting those figures.
Also 4 liters to 1 liter would... 1/4 the size... Yes, it is 1/50 the size by volume.
This was the loosest question and gave me 13 instead of 14 (!) as I did not have the linear answer either, but the question variety was fun and I learned a couple of things along the way.
@@Jinn174
So you're saying the moon is 1/4 the earth's volume? No it isn't. Volume of a sphere is 4/3*pi*r^3. Calculate it for yourself using 1079 miles for the moon radius and 3958 miles for earth radius. The moon's volume is on the order of 10^9 cubic miles and the earth is on the order of 10^11 cubic miles. Just looking at the powers of 10, there's no way the moon is 25% earth's volume.
And please tell us what that simple equation is for mass. I can't take your word for it considering that you've screwed up everything else.
That's the same as saying a tennis ball is 31% the size of a soccer ball since a tennis ball's d=6.86cm and a soccer ball's d=22cm.
The correct statement is; the size/volume of the Moon is 2% of the Earth's volume. Or, the size/mass of the Moon is 1.2% of the Earth's mass.
Because of #2 people who don't know anything about math or astronomy will believe the Moon is a quarter the size of the Earth. IRRESPONSIBLE!!!!!
I found this more of a vocabulary quiz than a science quiz.... 15/20
Got several correct, although there were a couple that I guessed. Def need to read more quizzes.
As an 8th grade Student turning 9th this year, I can conclude that the test was indeed hard. I haven't heard/learned some of them, and now I am willing to learn new things after watching this video. If you're ever wondering how many scored did I got... I've got 14/20, some of my answers are just a guess, I was pretty lucky, ain't I?😆
LoL
Lol
Omg that is exactly what’s happening with me rn. I got 14/20 and is just entering 9th grade.
Not bad on science! Work on English.
Me 7th standard started got 14/20 he that will be emotional damage for you all
15/20...good quiz. The question about the moon was ambiguous, though..."size" could mean either diameter or volume, I think.
Yah you are correct!!
Yep, but by volume the Moon is only 1.5% of the Earth's "size".
D
I am no scientist, but I consider myself to be fairly well read in the arena of science and I got 9 right although there were a couple that I got right and then changed my mind, gotta learn to trust my instinct. That was a truly testing Quiz, which makes a change on YT, I usually find myself getting 80%+ on these so called hard quizzes.
I enjoy these questions because they are fun and memorable.
Ouch! I don't mind missing the ones I never knew, but the ones I used to know and couldn't remember bother me. My fossilized old brain missed 7 of these, but I did learn a few things.
12/20 - Not bad for a non-scientist. Enjoyed it!
Me i got 14/20 not bad for a 30 year old guy
Me
I got 15/20 not that bad for 16 years old girl.
Interesting. Really enjoyed that. I scored 9, which I think is not bad. Loved the tunes🎶
Excellent quiz. I got 12 of 20. Not great, but not embarrassing. I'm going to try history next.
I enjoy learning new fact. Especially ones I don't normally run into
Er, please read more, put down your phone.
when comparing the relationship of the moon to earth try using diameter, mass or volume rather than 'size' as they are all different. It's diameter is about 27% of the earth but it's mass is just over 1% so 2 of your answers are both correct
Great quiz. Not easy so really got me thinking. 16/20.
19/20. I was a chemist at Celanese for 32 years before retiring, with a phd in molecular biology, so I guess I had a small advantage.
Well, I suppose that makes you a BIG MAN.
There were a couple I had never heard of, so I am excited to learn more (if my old brain can remember it later Lol!). A couple lucky guesses and a few I did know, but not as many as I hoped. Great quiz! I also appreciate the follow up info supplied afterward. It helps put answers into context.
Hello Bird Lady, I'm glad you enjoyed the quiz and the little explanations. That was a really hard quiz, so let us not be hard on ourselves hah! Thanks for playing and for your nice comment, which I appreciate. Cheers!
same I agree
I think I'm now going to be a 'guru' in science
PhD Chemist and scored 15. Very thorough quiz across physical, biological, and social sciences.
Well then, as a high school grad 45 years ago, I don't feel so bad with my 10.
High School was 47 years ago for me. That little quiz had some very obscure questions only specialists in a field would know. Neither of us to old and knowledge is acquired out of school as that is the diving board to get us started. Nice to meet you sir. :) Also Mike@@mikearmstrong8483
Agree 100% education never ends. I graduated High School 47 years ago also in 1976.
Same score. PhD in molecular biology. At least I got "nucleic" right!
Only bio question I got wrong was chromosome number. I assumed strawberry, which has 56 chromosome and is octoploid. Didn't know pigeons had so many.
Excellent! I learned something.
This was fun. Great quiz
Love this, I learned a few new things!
Well...15/20--not bad for a postal worker, eh? I had majored in astronomy at uni, and just stayed very interested in matters scientific since. A very enjoyable quiz!
Another fellow mailman that listens to science lectures all day on the route and you beat me by 4. I’m embarrassed to say I only got 11.
Astronomy is a USELESS major!!!!!
15/20 for an astronomy major is kinda bad not to be deaming though
What happened? No jobs for astronomers now too? (I wanted to be an astronomer back in high school, and everyone kept telling me, 'you will find no job and even if you do, you will work in remote locations, away from civilization' :)). So i am honestly interested what the situation is now.
Thank you so much ,with thisIWill studied something else
Fair amount of science knowledge. Difficult test. I learned a lot. #2 is not a valid question. Size is not specific. Scored 13 out of 20.
My score was 13 nice, I didn't knew many of the things that were asked in this quiz but yes this was enjoyable,I look forward to more quizzes like these,I recently passed 8th grade and now I'm going to join 9th grade, thank you very much for this kind of content..
That test was tough ; definitely for science people . I got 6 or 7.
Certainly it's not shameful to not know everything. But I guess you should improve your scientific knowledge a bit; it helps to understand the world.
@@aljoschalong625 ; I agree with that statement , but it was only one test , Thankyou .
@@paulefstathiou1819 You're right. Actually, now that I read my comment again, I think it's embarrassingly patronizing. It was just 20 questions and I got most of them right, so I thought having just 7 right is a bit too low … but it's so easy to imagine there were 20 other questions and I would have gotten only a few right.
I'm sorry. And thank you for not reacting harsher to my rather dumb comment.
@@aljoschalong625 ; you are welcome ! It's all relative .
I like your quiz as well as your tuning
It's is amazing
I like it
For the educated,but non-science-specialist layperson,that was indeed hard 13/20
I got 10. Damn hard.
You’re both liars. I got less than 10 and guessed half of them.
@@renenadeau323 LOL, WTF would I lie about getting only half right? I mean that's a failing grade under any grading system. Believe me I'm not proud of it.
Most likely school syllabus and age determined. Would you folks mind me asking your country and age ???
@@COM70 I'm a US citizen and I'm 62. I'm also well educated, have lived and travelled in many countries, I'm a veteran of the US army, and speak three languages fluently. Usually, I do well on these tests; I didn't this time, lol.
I got 16 out of 20. But I did study science at university.
The question re the Moon was ambiguous as it didn't specify diameter or volume or mass.
I got 9 correct and guessed correctly in 3-4 of them. It's quite hard quiz but anyways got to learn so many new things today.
Indeed, this was a hard quiz. I missed 1 question, and that was #4...(3!).I took 5 years of mathematics in 4 years of high school, (algebra 1 & 2, geometry and solid geometry, and trig.. and don't remember ever seeing or learning what that meant. Anyway, I learned something new and that is great. I am 75 and a person should never stop learning. You do a great quiz. Thank you! 😊 👍 🤔Keep making us think!!
Got 15/20. I had a few problems with language. I'm Italian and studied in Italian terms are often similar, but sometimes totally different. However I figured nearly everything. Only 1 error, I think, could be because of language
There was no notification that I had to keep my own score so I'm going to say I passed but my instructor needs more improvement. He does play well with others though.
Jeez, if you can't count to 20 you failed.
excellent quiz! subscribed
17/20, Diamond question (#1) had a surprising answer. Request: please make these quizzes quicker: i watched this one on speed setting 2, and i had to wait and wait for the answer. With the science you either know or not, there is no need to have time for guessing.
14/20. That was a tough and fair quiz. I would like many more like this.
I got fifteen right. Here are some points to consider:
1. For the question about atomic number, the number of electrons is as good an answer as the number of protons, because the number is the same. If there is any difference, it's not an atom, it's an ion
2. The explanation for the last question listed "farming" as a cause of extinction separate from "agriculture." What distinction are you making?
The entire test was a setup for the bogus question number 20.
Yes for an ion, the atomic number would still remain the same as the atom so electron is not a valid answer.
Ions are atoms.
Well, sort of. However, a molecule missing or having an extra electron is also an ion.@@iverburl
What a well constructed humbling experience, had no idea I was so ignorant!
Nice to have a really tough science quiz. I'm a scientist and I still missed 5 of those!
I got 6 out of 20 for a non- scientist. This really is hard! Try making this a little easier, but overall, this is great.
same
I found that one very hard. 7/20. Great quiz.
17/20 ... this must a new index describing my uniqueness. 😉
I got 17 right. A couple were educated guesses and one was a flip the coin guess. Good quiz.
Thats cheating
Yaayy!I just got 16 marksssss
Great quiz! I thought I was much better informed, but to my dismay, I seem to have a few gaps in my science knowledge. My score? Embarrassing.
Yeah, I only got seven right myself.
Same. Got the biology ?'s. The rest, completely embarrassing! A couple of lucky guesses. 😳🙄
I passed, but just barely...
Started horrible 0-3 but recovered and ended 15-5. Nice questions.
12/20 really difficult, but now I know all the answers: I've learnt a lot!
Really good 👍 keep it up
Thank you friend!
Question 2: you have to specify what you mean with "size". Volume? Diameter?
exactly
I thought the same thing, so I just assumed diameter.
Or mass
I assumed they meant mass.
I knew the gravity on the moon is about a sixth of the earth so I assumed it was a sixth of the mass, ie 16.66 percent. As the nearest was 18 percent I chose that.
The difference between size and volume does matter, and I like some others assumed diameter. However, I'd say "no" to mass as as option because we would in that context normally refer to an "amount" of mass, not a "size" of mass: Applied to mass, "size" is usually a characteristic (e.g., "a sizeable mass"), or, to put it another way, used to describe a quality, not a quantity.
Got 14, but some of them I got it as educated guesses, like knowing that prefix "an" means "lack" and things like that.
it is harder than the papers I did ...
but thank you ...
it improves my knowledge 😢
17/20 Enjoyed your quiz. I did pause on many to think some through. 😀👍
Happy to see someone else got 17. That way nobody will think I lied about my score. The first question scared me. I was sure I had the right answer but I had no idea bout the heat conductivity of diamond.
@@PeterWhite66 Either did I. We learned something new.
Got 10.Glad I got them!!Learned a lot!!!
14/20 here, not bad I thought. Some were pretty tricky!
Quite good, for a change. Still 20/ 20
16/20 but I'm ashamed to say I got the Newtonian question wrong.
You are not alone.
That last question strayed outside of science bounds.
No it didn't.
Wow. I’m 77 years old and need to hightail it back to high school! 😁. Got quite a few right but so many are way over my head.
15/20 enjoyed your questions quiz and thank you ma'am 😃😃😃👍👍👍
I usually count the ones i get wrong. Not this time. I'm not playing anymore :)
Hahaha! This quiz is, I believe, the hardest one on my channel. So, quite understandable if anyone would refuse to do it 🤣 I appreciate your comment, thanks!
LOL!!
Am I the only one in this comment section who is still in school.
Nope
I am in the 6'th grade so you are not alone ❤
I think you meant to say _in_ this comment section and _in_ school. Either way, at least you're spending your Internet time wisely. And sentences also end with a period. You should pay more attention in grammar class.
@@eamonia I see
I don't usually check grammatical correctness of my sentences unless it is for official use but thanks for correcting me.
@@BG_Demon A lot of people don't and I'll never understand why. Hold yourself to a higher standard. You'll never regret it.
16 right so not too bad. I was a bit slow at the beginning though, and while I knew a strawberry had more chromosomes than a human, I didn't know the same about a pigeon.
very interesting. I even got some correct!!
*The correct answer to #20 is "The Leftist Effect"*
Well said!
12/20,never heard of half of 'em, so a couple of guesses.
I learned today that diamond is a really good (one of the best) heat conductors. I really did not know. Thanks.
18 out of 20 right answers. Not bad for someone who got his MA in mathematics over half a century ago I claim!
I only got five. That’s better than I thought I would do-science isn’t my bag. I only took four science courses in my entire schooling, and I flunked one of them.
I only stayed for the jazz. 😂 Michael Del Brown at the end there. Good taste.
"Your job" was a funny one. But the quiz is like a 25% basic science quiz and a 75% random facts quiz. Still got a 100%.
A tough quiz, to be sure. I got about 12 right, but I may well be flattering myself! I am still reeling over the fact a diamond is a good conductor of heat and poor conductor of electricity. Gee whiz, I feel as if someone just proved that von Karajan was a bad conductor of Beethoven! I don't care much about anemophily (which I stumbled into correctly, given the choices), but wow. Thanks. 😸
9 out of 20. Wide ranging and obscure.
12th grader who scored 19/20.. The questions were stupendous!!
Woww this was amazing!
Good quiz. Not hard (at all in fact!) but good.
I liked this quiz and I learned some things. Got about half right.
Bro ur sound is kinda amazing
Canon in D my favorite piano piece
12/20, surprised myself big time with that although most were with good calculated guesses I must admit being honest
Good quiz. I missed 4. Thanks for the music!
What about first question, it's not copper the right answer
18/20. Missed #1, which drat it all I should have gotten , and #13, which I didn't know but went for strawberries because I knew they have more than humans.
Wow amazing score!! Science is your forte 👏 Since you knew about the strawberries that makes your score 18.5 then hah 🤠 Thanks for playing!
14/20 I never knew some of them but I learned new things 🥰🥰
This made every chapter easy for me well done
19/20. Had no idea pigeons had so many chromosomes.
You learn something new every day...
😀😀 those creatures!
15/20. Your question about the Moon's "size" is ambiguous. Your answer was comparing diameter, but it could also have meant volume or circumference.
For me I have a 6 score but it's ok I'm trying my best... Keep it up for more questions.
I got 11 out of 20.The questions are seriously perplexed but with critical thinking I strive to choose the correct answer to the question.
It's fortunate that the questions were perplexed, and not you.
How may yous did the questions gat wrong?
14. Not a single lucky hit. Felt stupid with 2 errors for which I used to know the answer. This was a great quiz!
This was too slow for me, so I changed the playback speed to 1.5X and it surprisingly made the background music awesome.
16/20. Great quiz.
