Following these rules can help the safety for the driver, but for others around the work area.

ACPA safety rules need to taught closely with NRMCA safety rules. When a Redimix driver backs up to a Pump operator, an industrial concrete placement system is formed. The system involves potentially dangerous industrial equipment, and the professionals needed to discharge all duties safely - all the way down to the hose tip at the end of the pump boom. Each person, to the extent they are trained and able, need to be cognizant of the risks and empowered to stop the entire operation if danger is present - until the danger is cleared. This takes honest training; no lip-service allowed. Companies that use cross-disciplinary training systems are to be lauded: The pump operator and the redimix driver who know something about the "other guy's safety duties" act as a safety-cross check for one another and create a safer culture. A culture that recognizes that safety is never just "the other guys job." Its everyone's job, all the time, together.
