Brings back memories. I worked on the line that built these and full size Pontiacs. The line ran 85 cars per hour. Haven't been back to Pontiac, Michigan. Hear it's a ghost town.
Nice car. The 428 has larger than stock mains, and was known as Pontiac's Nascar engine. Had one transplanted into an 80 Trans Am. It ran well. ;-) Thumb up for posting this beast.
The fasted I have ever gone in a car was a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix. We topped out at 150 mph. I wasn't driving and it was the scariest ride I've ever been involved with. That was 50 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Got up to 135mph in my girlfriends 73 GP, could've gone faster, but I saw visions of the original Mad Max movie when Max's comrades hit a van & it goes flying. I involuntarily slowed Down, then.
Greg You guys ALLWAYS HAVE THE BEST cars on the internet. Soon as I can get my hands on an extra $100,000, I'll have one of your people pick me up from the airport!! Thanks
This car brings back 🔙 nice memories in 1978 I bought one exactly like this one mine had 400 motor 4 barrel carburetor back lifted with big wide tires those cars are fast enough to pickup from 0 to 60 4"6 seconds and top speed 153 miles I'am stll crying because myounger brother kill it crashed in to a big ok tree i learned my lesson not to let no one borrow mine car ever again so you don't let no body drive or borrow your vehicle' I tried to find another pontiac but no luck late 80's this from 1969 to 1972 was no longer available they staring to disappear 1969 still my favorite Grand prix 🏆
had a 70 grand prix, great car, went through alot of tires. also had the first gp, a 1962 with a 389 tri power and a wide ratio t10 4 speed. i think the 62, 69, and 70 were the best.
My grandpa had a 69 and 70 Grand Prix. I remember my cousin called his car slow. So my grandpa put $20 on the dash and said if you can grab before I hit 4th it’s yours. He went home broke
I also had a 70 GP in the early 70's, it had the 400 automatic with 140 MPH speedo and would grab it fast. It's still the fastest car I've ever driven!
Super Nice GP ! I have a '70 Model J, 400 4v with a factory 3spd, manual trans and Hurst shifter with the walnut knob. I absolutely Love these cars. It rides and actually handles Oh-So-Nice. Everyone should drive one At Least once ! 😃
Nice 😀 My Granddad had a 1969 Dark green with light er green vynal top, SJ, Auto, 400 cubic inch v -8. I drove it a couple time's sweet car. Thanks for bringing back memories .
This and 1970 were my favorites. Probably because of the quad headlights, not to mention after '70 the horsepower started to decline pretty rapidly... But yeah, this is a nice looking vehicle. I'd like to see exactly how the build sheet looks to see how close it is to how it came off the assembly line - just out of curiosity. Either way I'd love to own it!
Hello William Meyer, I agree 100%...the '69 & '70 Pontiac GP are beautiful cars. If this black SJ is an original 4spd, it is SUPER RARE. I think Pontiac made less than 300 4spd Gran Prix in 1969 & fewer than 100 in 1970. The major redesign of the 1969 Gran Prix was the concept & design of John Delorean. I've owned two '75 Gran Prix...a 400 LJ & a 455 SJ. Honestly, I LOVED them as much as my '67 & '69 GTOs...which I still have & drive regularly. 🙂 Best regards, Ben
I owned two 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix cars, one was a J model and one was an SJ. The SJ Model had only two large headlights and the Model J was the basic model with four small headlights. The Model J came with the 400 cubic inch engine with automatic transmission and the Model SJ came with the 428 and choice of an automatic or 4-Speed transmission. In late 1969 they began the manufacturing of the 1970 Grand Prix SJ which has four small headlights. What you have here is a beautiful 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix Model SJ manufactured in late 1969. Everything is correct on this car, just as you have presented the car. I often think of my two 1969 Grand Prix cars.
Very nice car either the 4 speed or AC was added aftermarket, as Pontiac did not add both in the car at the same time. On another note, does anyone remember the Pontiac " whistle" these cars would make when you drove them a above 50mph. That was when you knew a Pontiac was coming down the road. Especially the GranPrix and a few others. It was the only car to have that distinctive sound. Ah!, what memories!
I had a 76... with 350...still a 4300 lb beast...but when A B&M Stall converter and dual 650 double pumpers with vacuum secondaries...were put in with Cooperate Pad brakes.. Not even a Vette would take me off the line...Cheap Creep ! Miss that Green Metaline Monster ! The Best Brother !!
Very sweet for sure! Too rich for my bank account, however someone will snatch this up pronto. I will just have to tolerate my pristine 67 S-code Mustang coupe. Thanks, I will have to drop by the store one day and say hello.
A 428 motor and 4 speed, this thing is rare an AWSOME, it's like a gto judge, the 428 is rated at 390 horses but that was really underrated, this is one of the best looking, BEST grand prix ever built, Wish I was smarter when I was young, I would of searched and bought one
Beautiful car. My father was a Pontiac dealer....Grand Prix's were selling like hotcakes. Only comment that I have is that the engine is not painted in true Pontiac Blue which is more of a light blue metallic.....other than that it's a beauty
Not only that, but the entire bottom has been painted black. The majority of suspension components are not painted from the factory. And that ridiculous Buick inspired air cleaner decal that was never installed on Pontiacs HAS to go. But on the other hand, beautiful looking car
I miss my 69 428 sj, More than any car I have own, Mine was blue 4 speed posi, ,And I have had some nice cars, and still do have a car.Just, loved that car, back in 1980, i put 8,000 in the motor
John DeLorean's car. Pontiac exclusive when he was the GM of Pontiac. He took the platform with him the Chevrolet Motor Division for the '73 Monte Carlo.
Awesome cockpit dash, some had red striped tires. Hard to see out of the sides from the back seat. Prefer the white interior option, dont think GM offered leather, only on Caddies. Most stereo packages were stolen out of the dashboard. AM/FM with 8 track stereo.
The first year of that gen, this is the ONLY way to have one, ALL original, Pontiac wheels and all but, the last year of this gen, 72', imho, was the Paladin of this series!😁👍
428 police special Is one bad-ass car, I beat a 70 trans am with the heavy monster, Also a very good driving car , black paint 2nd to none, Nice laquer finish , Is good times !!!
@@JimCherkowsky Jim = you are correct. There were two versions of the 428 engine for the 69 GP. A 370 horsepower and a 390 horsepower = HO. You could get the 428/370 engine and A/C and a 4 speed, but if you wanted the 428/390 and a 4 speed, then the A/C was not available.
My brother in law had one of these in the 70s. A mile long front end and handling to match. His was a 400 with automatic trans. That car spent more time being worked on then it did being driven. He used to cuss that car and bad mouth GM all the way!..😁 It had under 100k on it when he traded it for a 56 Ford pickup. ..😉
I have always thought the 69 was the sportiest Grand Prix Pontiac produced.
Love your car.🇺🇸
I love that Vanguard walks you through the vehicle from front to end , the test drive, and not just play mundane music for 2min and end the video
1965 and this 69 GP is an awesome example of Pontiac at it's best. Great car guys and glad someone did not Screw It Up.
The mighty 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ. Awesome car. And a 4 speed at that!
Great car! My first goodcar, at age 19, was a 1969 Model J Grand Prix! It was very clean. Love that year!
The fasted I have ever gone in a car was a 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix. We topped out at 150 mph. I wasn't driving and it was the scariest ride I've ever been involved with. That was 50 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.
I had a 70 GP, that was the fastest car I've ever driven. It would bury the speedo in a heartbeat!
Got up to 135mph in my girlfriends 73 GP, could've gone faster, but I saw visions of the original Mad Max movie when Max's comrades hit a van & it goes flying. I involuntarily slowed Down, then.
Always loved these cars. Great that it has a 4 speed also!
69-72 with the grand prix's they were gorgeous they were solid cars ran great
What a beautiful car. I had a 69 Model J 400/400THM and I wish I had never sold it.
We had a '69 and '72 Grand Prix.
Loved them!
Greg
You guys ALLWAYS HAVE THE BEST

My favorite ever Pontiac.
Ever??🤔
pontiacs whole lineup was badass in 69
This is a beautiful car. Very nicely restored. A true show car. It must cost a pretty penny.
An incredible find. An absolutely beautiful car that will continue to increase in value.
Had one back in the day green on green with the auto trans and 428HO that thing would scream. Nice cars.
Being back the Pontiacs! They made some great cars.
Had a 71 when I met my wife forty years ago. Loved that car.
This car brings back 🔙 nice memories in 1978 I bought one exactly like this one mine had 400 motor 4 barrel carburetor back lifted with big wide tires those cars are fast enough to pickup from 0 to 60 4"6 seconds and top speed 153 miles I'am stll crying because myounger brother kill it crashed in to a big ok tree i learned my lesson not to let no one borrow mine car ever again so you don't let no body drive or borrow your vehicle'
I tried to find another pontiac but no luck late 80's this from 1969 to 1972 was no longer available they staring to disappear 1969 still my favorite Grand prix 🏆
One wicked drop dead gorgeous Poncho

72 was OK also.
Dammm Dave…
You’ve owned some true icons !!!
Gotta in my in my top 5 of all time
I also had a 70 GP in the early 70's, it had the 400 automatic with 140 MPH speedo and would grab it fast. It's still the fastest car I've ever driven!

So nice i used to have a gold SJ 400 1970 in the year 1978. .What a great Pontiac 👍
Remember that car well. It was something else!
i love the front end beak
That GP and a 67-70 Eldo has to be in my top 5 American iron !
One of my first , a 66' 2+2 , that was in 1969 still dream of it .
now THAT is a badass car! If I ever can afford an oldschool, this would be it
that paint job alone is worth thousands. black is the hardest color to get perfect.
nice car....especially with a manual.
I had a 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix when I was 25 years old I'm 66 right now
Absolutely gorgeous car.
Nice 😀 My Granddad had a 1969 Dark green with light er green vynal top, SJ, Auto, 400 cubic inch v -8. I drove it a couple time's sweet car. Thanks for bringing back memories .
A true beauty indeed! 👏👏👏👏👊. And Greg u r the best genuine and spontaneous classic cars salesman on UA-cam so u know... 🙌🙌
I had a 69 Grand Prix, loved it, went like a bat out of hell!
For the love of God. G.T. doesn't get any better than this. Take your Priuses and Green New Deal and jam 'em where the sun don't shine!
Beautiful car perfection another example of why GM should of kept Pontiac around instead of Buick
This and 1970 were my favorites. Probably because of the quad headlights, not to mention after '70 the horsepower started to decline pretty rapidly... But yeah, this is a nice looking vehicle. ***BEAUTIFUL!***Totaled one in high school!***
Good boy! They don't call it HIGH school for nuthin'!

That's a Bad Ass rare 4 speed Grand Prix!
This Car Is Bad Ass! ✅ The 400 Kicked Ass Let Alone This 428
the sway bars are great
Stunning.
Man oh Man !! Word's can't do justice.
Very beautiful car.
My dad's best car was a '69 GP the styling, cockpit dash and the 350hp 400 made the car no slouch.
Triple black '69 GP, 428 - four gear. Hood tach. It doesn't get better than this.
If I had Jay Leno money, I would own this one!
DOUBLE DITTO..!
Very sweet for sure! Too rich for my bank account, however someone will snatch this up pronto. I will just have to tolerate my pristine 67 S-code Mustang coupe. Thanks, I will have to drop by the store one day and say hello.

Nice! I remember those.
Pontiac heaven ❤
Just love this !!! Not the same but, I had a 79 SJ.
What a car!!!!
I would say the first-generation Monte Carlo does look somewhat similar but yes this is one awesome ride.
Love this one is rare 4 speed in has more than 300 🐎
Beautiful car. My father was a Pontiac dealer....Grand Prix's were selling like hotcakes. Only comment that I have is that the engine is not painted in true Pontiac Blue which is more of a light blue metallic.....other than that it's a beauty
Yep, should be metallic blue

Not sure about the 69 but in 70 you definitely had leather as an option in the GP
Man sweet! LookIn good with a sweet ride. So sweet, man. Really sweet. Seriously, this is a really great car.
It's been a long time since I saw one of these in person!
I had one! Had the 400 W/Hurst slap stick shifter. Automatic. Luxury for the driver.
The first year of that gen, this is the ONLY way to have one, ALL original, Pontiac wheels and all but, the last year of this gen, 72', imho, was the Paladin of this series!😁👍
I owned 2 69 GP's back in the day. Wish I had them back....
Wow this is sweet rare and gorgeous
Had the 70 the a/c was so cold on 100° days there was frost on the windows and the beers always stayed cold.
428 police special Is one bad-ass car, I beat a 70 trans am with the heavy monster, Also a very good driving car , black paint 2nd to none, Nice laquer finish , Is good times !!!
is it a original 4-speed or fact auto. A 370 or 390 h.p. 428 h.o. car or just a 400/4 car thats been upgraded? Thanks.
Seems like this one’s been monkeied with plenty from its original state but an awesome car that I would love to have.
Very nice car that and the 70 Chevelle
WOW amazing
Damm that baby looking sweet 😎
Either 4sp was added or the A/C was. as 4sp cars A/C was not available from factory. Nice looking 69!
I thought the A C wasn’t available on a 4 speed HO SJ with the 390 H.P.
My friend in Maryland has a 1969 GP 4 speed .400cu in.
SWEET baby JESUS
Hi Greg love all your cars mate say hello to

P.S. One last change...a Butler Pontiac Performance Stage II, 800cfm, Quadrajet Carb. 🙂

im wondering if he was born yet in 1969. i rode in a new one of these when i was younger.
this car is second for me after a 1965 gto.
My brother in law had one of these in the 70s.
A mile long front end and handling to match.
His was a 400 with automatic trans.
That car spent more time being worked on then it did being driven. He used to cuss that car and bad mouth GM all the way!..😁
It had under 100k on it when he traded it for a 56 Ford pickup. ..😉
I bet he wished he had the Pontiac back after driving the 56 for awhile
What a beauty 😍 💖 ❤️
Awesome
Nice!
My dad had a brand new '81 GP - & but it was nowhere near as Grand as this one. :)
Sweet.
Great!!!
Anyone know where a fellow could get door panels for a 69 GP?
I was waiting for him to make that quadrajet moan....
I had that exact same car and let me tell you it was nasty.
OMG, I had one of these,
HERMOSO!!!
