Plastic is easy to make and cheaper to buy. In a real world, it's not possible to let go off plastic from our daily lives. The truth is that when you stop using plastic, you'll be adding more plastic to the planet. It's because you will only stop plastic carry bags but you won't stop using every other daily life product which is made of plastic. Your worry is that the plastic is non degradable. But the silver lining in plastic is the same non degradable property. We recycle it. This is how the plastic from dolls, phones, buckets and mugs, vehicles,TV, AC etc etc etc is getting recycled. If your hypothetically utopian society of zero plastic bags happen, the rest of plastics which come from the products you throw will start to accumulate. So, either we need to stop (or reduce as you say) using plastic in all products or continue to use plastic bags as well to prolong the cycle of plastic usage.

Doesnt solve all the problem. Its always exposed to sunlight and hence susceptible to UV degradation. The microplastics will just flow into drains, then rivers and then the sea.
Plastic homes are not eco friendly. The sun's UV rays is slowly breaking down the plastic in to smaller plastics. 25% more expensive than traditional homes doesn't seem worth it.
How could this be eco friendly.......they are just another form of plastic in a bigger version and also please provide rag picker's a hand gloves when you are hiring them
I think there are many cons: slippery tiles, hazardous solvents, flammable with really bad smoke, sensitive about UV rays. On the other hand it's still better than just wasting it, maybe you have to find a better use than building houses and pavements. For example furniture.
I really like the concept. Perhaps those wall sheets could be used as a substitute for drywall and exterior cladding. Wood studs and insulation between the two sheets could allow for this to be used in a sturdy, well-equipped structure.
Govt can create schools, hospitals, roads and other rural infrastructures by using waste plastic and large production of a commodity would ofcourse result in it getting cheap . Well applying a wallpaper on it might make it beautiful.

to the people who are worried about plastic breaking apart overtime and adding micro particles in the environment. what do you think was going to happen if this plastic stayed out in the open and garbage piles? exactly the same thing. having this in a house is obviously a bad idea in case of a fire, house will start melting and start dripping drops of hot melted plastic all over you. but using it in pavement brick is a good idea. we can also make like - Bus stop shelters - Park benches and Tables - Doors to public toilets - Street light post with dense plastic and i am sure we can think of a lot of other ways to find better uses for recycled plastics.
Everyone: "Very nice! Amazing idea!" Meanwhile the amount of microplastic that is being produced and going into literally everything including people will be a big issue as time goes on. Sorry, but plastic isn't strong nor is it resistant to forming dusts.
The best product for best use is the pavement tile. It should be used in each state instead of the cement ones as it will look good and will be cost effective.
Plastic isn't supposed to be a disposable product since it is do rigid and tough compared to other flexible materials. This is a great way to use wasted plastic.
Those "rag pickers" should be wearing gloves. I know that the Indian standard of hygiene is very low since India is one of the poorest countries in the world, but that is just disgusting and dangerous.
A.I.H Ar6 India is one of the poorest countries in the world. The GDP per capita of India is only $1,700 while the GDP per capita of USA is $57,000. Even war torn countries like Iraq are richer than India.
It isn’t one of the poorest, you make it seem we are at the bottom of the barrel and we do have the 6th largest gdp, the per capita doesn’t paint the full picture due to high income disparities and with growing middle class to boot, saying India is one the poorest is like saying the U.S. isn’t a laughing stock
So does a lot of countries that aren't poor, so your argument doesn't hold up and i already told you my argument and using the word war torn again doesn't help your argument
any research on health impact of living inside a giant plastic container - noxious fumes? fire hazard? We are told not to store food in plastic for long periods and now we want to live inside recycled plastic.
Very nice ! A thin sheet of a tin can be riveted on the whole house and the house should be painted by an oil paint. In this way , there will be no danger of fire.
This has to done on large scale in India. We should work for finding solutions to our problems instead of blaming,we have to develop such attitude in Indian public.
Imagine paying 25% more for a house made of recycled plastic that releases micro-plastics into your soil, is not fire-proof and a disaster if it melts your doorway and window exits in a fire. Jesus christ.

India already produces the second most cement of any nation, so going towards plastic is I think is a wise move towards efficiency and alternatives.
Plastic homes are not eco friendly. The sun's UV rays is slowly breaking down the plastic in to smaller plastics. 25% more expensive than traditional homes doesn't seem worth it.
Experiments can only make things better....
Great idea but am I wrong in saying it may pollute the waterways furthermore with microplastics from the pathway
How could this be eco friendly.......they are just another form of plastic in a bigger version and also please provide rag picker's a hand gloves when you are hiring them
"One man's trash is another man's treasure"
I can see them burning.
I think there are many cons: slippery tiles, hazardous solvents, flammable with really bad smoke, sensitive about UV rays.
On the other hand it's still better than just wasting it, maybe you have to find a better use than building houses and pavements. For example furniture.
BBC NEWS ,
Not all are made with plastic!
And it will change in the near future
And the floors see in blocks are made with ciment kind stuff!!
I really like the concept. Perhaps those wall sheets could be used as a substitute for drywall and exterior cladding. Wood studs and insulation between the two sheets could allow for this to be used in a sturdy, well-equipped structure.
Does this plastic can save from Sun radiation in summer?
Otherwise the home gonna be a furnace...!
Govt can create schools, hospitals, roads and other rural infrastructures by using waste plastic and large production of a commodity would ofcourse result in it getting cheap . Well applying a wallpaper on it might make it beautiful.
You just make a bigger coffin, there's reason why we choose brick to build houses
Plastic plastic no longer fear of pollution such a creative work..... Hatts offff....
Why the women worker was not wearing mask? It is very harmful for her health...
It is their livelihood and who wiill provide ?
its india...
The builder wo is using their services
@volce wagen well it is not about being corrupt or inhumane but the fact that they are freelancers and it is their choice not to wear a mask. Moreover, to some extent it is the government's fault as it is their duty to impart education to these freelancers about the haphazards of not wearing proper equipment. So the "WHOLE" India in general can't be called as corrupt and inhumane mofo.
Voice should be raised i hope there will be smeone who can read our comments n send this message strong to the employers .. there is potential risk n min safety standards are nt met 😢😪
to the people who are worried about plastic breaking apart overtime and adding micro particles in the environment. what do you think was going to happen if this plastic stayed out in the open and garbage piles?
exactly the same thing.
having this in a house is obviously a bad idea in case of a fire, house will start melting and start dripping drops of hot melted plastic all over you. but using it in pavement brick is a good idea. we can also make like
- Bus stop shelters
- Park benches and Tables
- Doors to public toilets
- Street light post with dense plastic
and i am sure we can think of a lot of other ways to find better uses for recycled plastics.
What a stupid idea. What about the particles the plastic components will release upon friction. And the overall effects against the elements.
Everyone: "Very nice! Amazing idea!"
Meanwhile the amount of microplastic that is being produced and going into literally everything including people will be a big issue as time goes on. Sorry, but plastic isn't strong nor is it resistant to forming dusts.
Good idea.
This could be a good solution for temporary compact house to be use in time of emergency or in refugee camps
In a indian rohingya refugee camp they have a entire village with ROADS made of plastic, and even whiteboards from school
The best product for best use is the pavement tile. It should be used in each state instead of the cement ones as it will look good and will be cost effective.
This guy is amazing he has a very inspirational life story great job
cool ..
This is crucial solution of plastic what an idea wonderful amazing Indian talent...
you are saying garbage is turning into a gold, but i still smell rotten odour of BBC
With 25% higher cost. It won't be hit popular.. Everyone would look after cost of reduction in Construction of house,
Any indians watching??
I think they use the word house liberally. shed would be more appropriate
How about creating plastic toilets, since toilets are obsolete in India
Hopefully a heatwave with create a fire outbreak and poison the population a little bit down over there. Oh yeah poo2loo
Maybe India could send some plastic toilets to San Francisco to help with the situation there as well. 😊👍
Who said that our toilet are obsolete
lol people in San Francisco and places in India constantly shit on the sidewalk
This idiot is from UK. why r u bashing San Francisco
A.I.H Ar6
India is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Vishal Saha- It is one of the poorest. That is why Indians migrate to the West in packs. Even war torn Iraq is richer than India.
So does a lot of countries that aren't poor, so your argument doesn't hold up and i already told you my argument and using the word war torn again doesn't help your argument
Hey you JD (jiggly dick) come visit for yourself, instead of laying on your couch the whole day watching these biased media coverage on India .
Excellent recycling plastic.. I admire your good work and creative skills
any research on health impact of living inside a giant plastic container - noxious fumes? fire hazard? We are told not to store food in plastic for long periods and now we want to live inside recycled plastic.
Super initiative ........this type of recycling should be carried aa a revolution in India and other countries....Hari om
If you want less micro plastic in nature, you should not make pavements of plastic, as they wear down.
Great 👍 effort by this and other advanced thinking people.
Very nice !
A thin sheet of a tin can be riveted
on the whole house and the house should be painted by an oil paint. In this way , there will be no danger of fire.
I really don't know if this is a good idea. I mean it's basically sweeping the dust under the carpet, really.
This has to done on large scale in India. We should work for finding solutions to our problems instead of blaming,we have to develop such attitude in Indian public.
This is really god damn smart. Finally some people are actually gong through with these ideas instead of leaving it as pen and paper
Imagine paying 25% more for a house made of recycled plastic that releases micro-plastics into your soil, is not fire-proof and a disaster if it melts your doorway and window exits in a fire. Jesus christ.
Seems like a solid idea, but how much does it offgas and how harmful is it? Chemical leeching would be a concern if collecting rainwater from roof runoff. Maybe it could be used in place of wooden framing in residential housing?
Not sure why this is not picking up though. I think plastic tiles should be given wooden texture to make them more attractive.
The static in this house must be outrageous!
