@@lliambunter He helped out in the warehouse, but when told to brush a floor like he was a warehouse operative he said no. The reason the industry is “fucked” (although it isn’t) is because of negative people like you... If you don’t like the job then don’t do it, simple.

But surely it's a lesson learned? Let's say you alienate yourself from 50% of the customers that agency deals with then you're loosing a lot of work.
As you say, a pair of dark cargo pants and a tidy top portrays a professional image. 👍

Gareth Bell a uniform to people like agency etc is nothing. All tax free etc. Either that or provide an allowance for work wear with a standard, black cargo trousers, black top etc. Again it’s not even peanuts to any firm. Customers happy, employees happy. No dramas!

Fair enough, but if I was agency I'd see it as my duty to make myself the one they want to hire?!
But that's just my logic. Thankfully I've never needed to be agency in 20 years, always managed to get a job.

    Hay buddy,
1st totally get how you feel but it's all part of the experience of what work you do in the future.
I did a food place in Bolton in Van's doing the same stuff, it was crap!! Drivers walking out before they'd left depot due to being spoken to like shit and the wages being the same. Dont settle for poor work for poor hourly rates.
2nd With regards to 'uniform' for the better work the client is going to expect a standard so have a look around at what class 1 drivers wear, get yourself some work trousers, and polo tops plain, for work, as an ex squaddie myself I get the meaning of H4H but your not paid to support them if that makes sense, it's a small adaption to keep the work coming buddy, theres loads of veterans driving and youd be hard pushed to find one wearing stuff like that.
Honestly mate that would be my advice moving forward .
Another thought would be talk to the agency and ask them to give you HGV work no more Van's as you're looking to build up experience in that role, it's all about bouncing back better than you was mate, hope your not too down today and that you get offered some great work, hang in there buddy you're doing grand👍

Agencies are idiots. I drove to Trafford Park from Stockport for a 5am container job. On arrival I get cancelled they said my truck had a maintenance problem and it wasn't going to be back. So I rang the agency and left a message at 5.30am and headed home. The agency rang me at 10am and said they would find me something. I said no problem. They offered me a 8pm till 4am trunk shift. I said I can't do that as I would be dangerous as I had been awake from 4am.
They decided to not pay me my 8 hours minimum pay. I reminded them several times. They again said they had offered me work and I refused it. I pointed out it was illegal as my day started when I left home not when I started driving. 3 months later still no 8hours paid. So got my wife to take them to court. They refused to pay saying I stood no chance. Guess what just before the court date they paid up. These are the things you are up against as an agency driver. Being treated as dirt goes with the job or so they think. The lack of drivers is pay back.

I used to be a class 1 driver, and to be honest , if they want to pay a HGV wage for sweeping up floors, I used to just laugh and just do it. Too many companies will do the same as you had today by pissing you off for someone else.. just go with the flow, and enjoy getting HGV wages for some trivial work duties. I come back to Manchester after living abroad for 12 years, had to do a cpc course (it didn't exist before I moved away) and started with agencies doing class 1, worked with a few agencies getting odd jobs around manchester, sometimes much further (Bradford/Leeds, Ellesmere port) and got pissed off with it, I worked like a dog and always got paid much less than I was planning, sometimes they'd say they have 1 week tramping from Leeds, I'd drive all the way there and it would end up being only 2 days (they knew I'd tell them it's too far to drive for only 2 days work), never give up looking online for new jobs adverts, check everyday, even if you're working full weeks and everything seems ok, one day you'll see something good. I ended up getting a good tramping job from Trafford park, I wear what I want and stuff like health and safety and all other endless rules that some companies have are none existent, just me in my truck (never have to swap cabs) and my company always has my back, if I tipped somewhere and had problems I could tell them where to go and if they called my company, my company know I'm a nice lad same as you, they'd tell them where to go too, try to find a small company, most small company bosses are down to earth, if they met you, they'd take you on any day and look after you, at agencies, your just a number. Keep your chin up 😉 something will come along, good charity to represent too 😎

The best bit about being an agency driver is you only have to complete that booking
Then after you have finished that shift or booking you can tell the agency to not send you there again and they won't
An agency driver chooses where they get sent it's part of the perks of being an agency driver
And as much as wearing your current attire means a lot to you and I understand that etc agency drivers that wear black trousers black t shirt and black jumper or coat with black rucksack etc
Eg all matching etc will get the most work and code trained which you are etc Because they can be used and relied on to work as a two person team delivering to state departments etc with the only difference between a person that wears this attire and a full time employee is a small logo etc so that they look almost like an employee although working for an agency etc
Have a look at the companies that wear smart black uniforms etc they are usually large blue chip companies with the best trucks etc
I wear t shirt and jeans which reduces the amount of work I get etc but after being an agency driver for over 7 years or so now I can do most days I get sent to etc

A friend of mine was sacked after a written warning, for not wearing his Hi Vis when he was driving. As he said, and you no doubt know, if the sun is shining from the front the reflection of the vest in the windscreen, is a hazard. He's a good worker and it wasn't long before he had another better job.

I’ve had this a couple of times with different clients on agency. Although not once has anyone rang up and tried saying I look scruffy. When I deliver furniture to stores or distribution centres I wear trackie bottoms and a t shirt. I never drive in my steel toes and will only ever put them on if absolutely necessary. But if I was in a builders wagon I’d wear them. I like where I am although it’s not challenging i enjoy it because they let me get on with my work and there’s a level of respect. Some companies treat agency drivers like dirt though and expect the earth. Stand up for yourself bud and if you think they’re being unreasonable then say so. You’re paid for 8 hours minimum though so it’s worth checking with the boss what they want you to do and if they say bigger all then home time :)

When you get your class 1 you can go with TESCO directly since you already know the role and have your foot in the door, its then £14 per hour plus over time at £21. Hi mate, just came across you’re channel and will sub when I’ve written this. I worked 3 years for an agency and the guy that ran it was pretty open when it came to talking about customers. He said that customers will come up with any excuse not to pay up and I myself was worked for a few who refused to pay for my services for some jumped up excuse. He always told me that if I get sent to a job I hated to try and just see out that day no matter how bad it was and then I could refuse to go back next time. The reason being, and I don’t know if it’s the same with your agency, the customer was obligated to provide you with at least 8 hours work any given day. If you are only getting payed for the hours you are working then I would ask the agency if they themselves are actually being payed for a full days work by the customer. This could b the reason that customer was p’ed off. What the agency guy also told me was that for every awkward customer on their books he had at least half a dozen awkward drivers. From what I see from your vids you are like rocking horse shit to an agency but the problem with that is they’ll send you to the customers that said awkward drivers refuse to work for. Don’t let them take the piss too much mate and gain as much experience as you can for when you start applying for full time work. You’ll never be out of work in the current climate and you WILL eventually land a cushy number 👍

Ok buddy some people will tell you what you want to hear and some will tell you what you need to hear.
The problem is a lot eastern European drivers dress very casual...ie tracksuit bottoms T shirts and trainers and as such they struggle to command respect from their peers and companies.
I understand your passion for help the heroes (I have been apart of that from day 1) but my recommendation is to wear some black or dark blue cargo pants and a plain polo shirt with plain jumper for the winter....nothing stopping you from wearing a nice pin badge for help the heroes. I understand your frustration but first impressions count. Clean uniform, clean boots..turn up on time and be respectful to the client and the clients customers...(you are the face of that company) do all this my friend and you will always be busy. HOWEVER none of the above means you should be treated like a Dog and your quite right to demand otherwise......just pick tour fights as you can't win um all.
Sorry you had a bad day pal but just chalk it down to experience.

After a few years driving Class 1 I went back into the landscape industry and eventually moved into management. Like the drivers most of the staff in the office are also just trying to get the job done, and also have a boss breathing down their necks. That said, there is absolutely no reason or excuse for treating all staff (including agency) with anything other than respect, and I have disciplined people in the past for treating agency staff badly. About the jogging pants though, they might be comfortable but they really look awful, if you’re arriving at a point of delivery in a company vehicle you are representing the company, and while I respect your right to wear want you want to wear, at some point there are going to be more drivers than there are jobs, so either the agency or the customer is going to have to find a reason to pick one driver over another, and if they don’t like what you wear to work you might be the one staying at home for the day. Keep up the good work, and try to see the office staff’s side of things, it will help you in the long run. 👍🏻

Fair play to you mate, If my agency places me as a driver - I drive, if the client wants warehouse operatives or vehicle washers, then hire them.
No way do I do warehouse work - My agency know this, & would be right behind me as & when I refuse.

Good on you mate ! Most Customers/ Clients simply want their deliveries or parcels on time and don't give a fuck about the attire you are wearing as long as it's not filthy. Although I am retired now I know many Bosses who treat their subordinates with utter disrespect and make up "Stories" to embroider their attitude towards you. Even at high level on film star wages middle management get screwed for fear of losing their jobs whilst the CEO is out playing golf !

Am a HGV drive 2 and if I was T give u an advance never let anyone talk down 2 u ever coz if they find out they can, they will. That noob should have known that if u had been working for 6 hour u should have taken a 30 min break anyway so he can get out. As for the way u dress yes I do agree with him that u are the face of the company BUT I have family that have been out there and are still out there. And I had a cousin that was part of the Pathfinders and he was hit twice on 2 separate deployments. And I my self honour the boys and girls that I Fallen for us. They will never be forgotten in my eye NEVER. So u keep that t-shirt on and where it with pride. And if anyone EVER tell u to take it off just remind them that if it wasn't for people like them u wouldn't be where u are today. And tell them they gave there today so we could have a tomorrow 😢

Please don't do what half the comments are telling you to do. You demonstrated that you have respect for yourself. It doesn't make you difficult or damage your reputation. Imagine if every worker in every industry respected themselves in that same way, standards and treatment of workforces would soon change. It's the "just do what they say and get on with it" crowd that are the problem, not you. You should be feeling proud of yourself for having boundaries because it makes you a healthy person, not like so many others who are as miserable as hell because they lose all control and know that they can't hold onto a moral to save their lives.

Unfortunately with some firms that take agency workers they think that they can treat them like crap because the way it’s looked at by them is well I’m paying for you I’m getting my money’s worth. Your a top bloke and I can only hope for the best for you and yours. Now on another subject content I think you worry to much about it I tune in to see how YOUR week has gone you make the channel just the same as the road legends do. They might show little bits and bobs but most of it is them driving and talking they are successful because they are likeable no different to you. All the best stay safe. Rich.

@@Sean-ce1hu case studies are easy. Just think of them as multi choice questions. You should be able to answer them without even reading the case study.
What I did, was answer it based on just the question first. Then check the case study to see if I missed anything. If I still thought it was right. Then it was.

Totally agree with refusing to work warehouse, I'm a recent class 2 driver, luckily my company paid for me to do it when I was a van driver so I'm already in a full time driving an 18tonner., I used to do warehouse when asked when I was waiting to do my training but I refuse now on the grounds that if I wanted to do warehouse, I wouldn't of started driving for them in the first place 😂 great bids though mate

Your a awsome chap, I'm 32 with 5 kids I'm an class 2 driver, it took me a good while to finally settle down in a job, I lost a few jobs by standing my ground because of being spoken too like muck, my last job, I was shouted at sworn at for running out of driving hours, I parked up left the keys in caught a train home told them to fetch the truck themselves, I now work with a small company 4 trucks, family run and they understand family life, you will find your perfect job. Fuck the agency

Sounds like your better off out of that agency and well done for sticking up to your principles keep your chin up mate.

They sounded like a bunch of pr*cks mate. Dont let judgemental people knock you down. Wear what you want with pride my man. And for whoever gets the training pack, it'd be awesome if when they pass they sent it onto another learner to help. So then you're not only helping one person but potentially getting a few truckers on the move. Great vid again pal. Be looking forward to the next one!👍
