Building massive poorly designed suburbs in which everyone must rely on personal cars to live is what should be outlawed. However, are people willing to accept the fact that owning a single-family home would become nearly impossible?
Yes and no, to do that you’d need other solutions to becoming social and being active ect getting back and forth sometimes is the only way people get that person to person engagement and stimulation the fact we have less abs less social places doesn’t help this.
@@PG-3462 where I live the town is connected with walk ways and cycle tracks but people still drive as it’s easier the problem is some people still need to use cars to get places due to mobility issues or medical appointments. But yes places should be more connected trough walking and cycling paths it’s also important to keep adding to the trees and wild flowers. Ways of making homes that use less electric and petrol to make and maintain and incorporate wild parts ie natural flora roofs plant walls ( these can both help with insulation too which will help not havinn to use as much heating. Changing gas boilers and heaters ect to other forms ( some cars use bio water now to power cars instead of petrol for example there are so many parts of the industry our roads what is used to replace them ect now we use things not grat for the environment but last no time so has to be replaced again and again we need to build more for quality again. Imagine 9 or 10 billion people will have to have less environmental impact than 500 million did 200 years ago (pre-industrial). That's 1/20th less than the majority who got around by walking or horse and had a wood stove that was used to both heat the home and cook meals. It'll take the complete elimination of the personal transportation system outside of a bicycle. Forget trains, planes, and automobiles. Even the majority of the agriculture was produced by animal labour. Reality bites when you come to grip with the realities.
No... I am not saying it will be easy, but it's perfectly possible to do this. It's called "decoupling". Continued production that has less and less impact on the environment. Cradle to cradle recycling is possible. There are techniques for reduced greenhouse gas emission for concrete production. Etcetera ad infinitum. All these little bits add up to it all. And we're not only going to imagine doing it in a good way, we are actually going to do it in that way. Vote green next time, make some small changes in your own life. That will be the start.

Well. That's nice for people who can manage that. And those people should indeed do that, if only to break from the daily routine some times. It's mostly good for urban pollution reduction, but won't be enough to change things, however. Until most modes of transportation are green, every little bit helps, but thoughts like this should never detract from knowing that significant changes have to be made to our current hyper-capitalist economies. Making money is all good, except when the mitigation of the effects of externalities such as pollution are not being paid for. That's by definition not capitalism anymore, but a thuggery.
I would be interested to know if any studies have been done to estimate the effects of going back to Sundays being a day where everything is closed and there is nothing to do. The problem with air pollution, is that the time needed for it to be naturally eliminated, by the chemical processes going on in the air, is insufficient to keep up with the quantity we are continually putting in it. One day a week, where the natural cleaning can take place with a considerably reduced addition, could have an impact well worth the inconvenience of not being able to do a lot on a Sunday. For decades we managed to survive with everything being closed on Sundays. I'm pretty sure with a bit of effort we could pull it off again. We will not all die because we can't buy a tee shirt, or go to MacDonalds on a Sunday.
CO2 must be cut but how millions gonna commute daily to office schools or business hardly the world govt are doing anything to change the mode of transportation. if we really want the change we can

That can be solved by lowering the cost of alternative energy like solar and windmill so that can afford even poor countries. And also lower the price of electric vehicles to replace the old ones that use fossil fuel. We invented alternative energy to lessen climate change but the price is for rich countries only. We’re not talking about who contributed the most. Even poor countries using fossil fuels are also making a contribution to global warming. Just remember we live on the same roof. We cannot solve the problem to search for another planet to live on.
@FEC Multimedia We can use the battery to store the power. If 50% of the household in this world use solar power in their home, What do you think is the result..? In the artic how many people are using fossil fuels than outside the artic.?
@FEC Multimedia If there is sunlight and solar can be used, use the solar. If there is no sunlight and the battery power is depleted, use fossil fuel. Don't rely 100% on fossil fuels. Use the fossil fuel "in Case" there is no sunlight or wind or the battery power is depleted.
Start by not making tvs anymore...especially in America, where the is a disconnect from reality, spinning in many directions, for a great part of the population
just remember that leading climate experts in the 1970s predicted that at current rates of fossil fuel usage - we'd experience climate catastrophes as of now. and yet, despite those numerous claims, fossil fuel usage has increased since then. what were the results - life expectancy is up, improved sanitation is up and climate related deaths are down. maybe we should consider how fossil fuels have enhanced our lives.
Future models not always accurant, but pretty close, yknow... such as upward trend of C02 still continuing and the IPCC report comprehensively telling you that if we don't act soon we are fucked and our peak quality of life will go down, rich getting richer, poor getting poorer, famine, droughts, mass displacements. Agreed the climate is changing, if people want the truth, they just need to check out whats going on, on the two planets Pluto and recently Neptune. It going to be at a cinema near us all, in good time.
I don't know why stupid people get so much attention. You can't do anything about climate change it is inevitable. It would happen whether we were here or not 10,000 years ago where I am sitting right now in the state of Pennsylvania was under a mile and a half sheet of ice then climate change happened and the ice went away and now I can sit here. And guess what we didn't have a damn thing to do with the climate change and the climate warming and melting all that ice we had nothing to do with that the same as now we really don't have anything to do with it we add a very very little bit to it in the long term scheme of things. Very very little bit we are not accelerating anything it's going to happen with or without us.
@@BazzBrother Shell oil wouldn't need to exploit as many resources if the demand were lower due to a balanced population. I'm not advocating for eliminating people who are already here, just that this planet will reject the human race at this level of population growth in under 100 years.
Firstly, a point of accuracy, the Paris Accord is not binding, it was an aspiration but carries no penalties. The idea that courts can decide what is required is a nonsense and only benefits the legal profession, who, as we know, are not exactly under paid. There are so many perceived 'facts' that are not actually valid. The extent of which CO2 controls temperature has been discussed and analysed by scientists for decades with no conclusion. In other words we don't know how much influence CO2 has on the climate. Over 90% of the globe's energy is from fossil fuel and oil, replacing that is a huge task and probably not possible. Without it we would revert to medieval standards of living, ekeing out an existance and with a very short life expectancy. Who determined what is the ideal temperature, and that the pre industrial times is the one to aim for. Personally I would prefer warmth to cold. How many last chances have been predicted for the last forty years and none have actually happened.
Man thinks he's more intelligent than the worlds leading scientists all working together ^^ If you were not a troll and actually spent 1 hour researching this topic you would understand the basic science.
Harry, the basic science, as you call it, is far from basic. Please explain what your interpretation of it is. There is no consensus by scientists of the effect of doubling CO 2 in our atmosphere. The estimates vary tremendously, from virtually 0 to 100 per cent. Science is not fact but an assessment and that has to be evaluated and proven, no easy task. Richard Feyneman put it succinctly. Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts.
I'm old enough to remember being taught in science class we are going to have another Ice Age. then global warming, then that was changed to climate change. You know what we used to call climate change? the weather.
The weather has never been hotter in some places. In B.C. it was up to 50 C this summer. Most of the people in BC don't have air because it was never this hot. The planet is warming regardless what name you want to call it

Having to commute to work should be outlawed for anyone who can work remotely
That’s ridiculous
Put a limit on to warranty’s of products and expectations of how long a product should last would help as atm there are a lot of products that go out in months or a year and so repeatedly need replacing so need more resources to make ect

Thanks DW! It's always good to be informed! We definitely need to raise more awareness and understanding regarding climate change.

Human overpopulation causes pollution. This is the key to climate change. Stop having babies!
Why only shell is responsible lol. There is many others petroleum companies

Green energy is the best way. And, need a working solution to plastic wastes.
As long as we have countries with armies and borders war will not stop

The idea that courts can decide what is required is a nonsense and only benefits the legal profession, who, as we know, are not exactly under paid.
There are so many perceived 'facts' that are not actually valid.
The extent of which CO2 controls temperature has been discussed and analysed by scientists for decades with no conclusion. In other words we don't know how much influence CO2 has on the climate.
Over 90% of the globe's energy is from fossil fuel and oil, replacing that is a huge task and probably not possible.
Without it we would revert to medieval standards of living, ekeing out an existance and with a very short life expectancy.

the basic science, as you call it, is far from basic.
