I remember when the first Canadian RD350LC's invaded the local racing scene in early 80's. The US market received "RZ"350's which was the final evolution of the RD350LC, They were sold here from 1984-1985. This is a 1985 Yamaha RZ350 Kenny Roberts Replica in the white/red combo, these were specifically marketed as Kenny Roberts replicas with the legendary “speedblock” livery and Kenny’s signature on the front fairing. This RZ was purchased in 2012, at that time it had approximately 16,000 miles. Going over the records we see the engine was gone through in 2002 by Enumclaw Yamaha, the crank was sent out to RZ's Unlimited for rebuild and balancing. All new seals, gaskets, and piston rings were replaced at that time.
When we received it late last year, it had unfortunately sat for a few years. Carbs were rebuilt, new oil injection lines were sourced and replaced, and we replaced the deteriorating Toomey air filter as well. New chain and sprockets installed, forks rebuilt, rear shock replaced with a fully adjustable Wilbur custom shock. Removed Toomey pipes, cleaned and touched up the paint. We took our time to make sure this turned out to be a nice solid RZ. Like any 38-year-old motorcycle, there are some dings and signs of wear on the frame and bodywork. We included photos of what we see.
Bottom line, this is now a great running revived RZ350. We have service records from past work along with our current service work records, 1 factory key, a Haynes service manual, and a clean WA title. The RZs just don't come up that often, especially the 1985 models, these are wheelie fun motorcycles. Come check it out soon

In 1983, Yamaha launched the new RZ350 as an unspoken successor of the RD350 lineup. The motorcycle gained popularity and success as a great value for money deal. With the perfect blend of good looks and a lot of power, the RZ350 became worthy of a Kenny Roberts badging. Kenny Roberts was the name that came to everyone’s mind when they thought of a successful café racer. Sadly, the bike also became known as the last of the 2-stroke engine motorcycles in the United States.
This is where the magic of the Japanese truly came to life. Normally, when we talk about a bike’s engine and road performance, there is usually a set tone of whether it is good or bad. However, here two points are equally opposed to each other. The element that makes this bike’s performance so good is the reason behind its equally negative point. The RZ350 featured a 2-stroke liquid-cooled engine with parallel twin cylinders, and it has a 347cc capacity. The engine not seen later in the U.S. except in dirt and motocross bikes. Looking back at it now, it is one of the greatest motorcycles of all time. The reed intake, water-cooled engine made 52 horsepower at 8750 RPM. The difference in a 2-stroke engine is just what the name suggests.
