I'd love to see a TM series with: Steve Merchant Ricky Gervais Karl Pilkington Warwick Davies David Earl Pie in the sky stuff but that would be hilarious
Ayoade, Warwick Davis, Stephen Fry, Stewart Lee (can't imagine he'd do it), Merchant, David Mitchell and Steve Coogan (in charachter as Alan Partridge). All men from me unfortunately.
i wish they'd drop that rigid idea of "only comedians do a full series". Some people on the one offs, like Claudia Winkleman would be amazing in a whole series. So was Victoria CM who always claims she's not a comedian... It also shows that the definition is way too blurry to make sense. It's would also be adressing the increasingly no-namier line ups.
I mean, it's primarily comedians, and I don't mind the lineups as I usually end up loving them once I actually see it, but there can still definitely be a place for non-comedians. It's usually comedy adjacent people though if they're doing a full series. Winkleman definitely fits that category, though, which makes me think it's a scheduling thing, but she has done panel shows similarly to Richard Osman, who did a full series
I found VCM very disappointing on a full series. The comedy came from Greg roasting her terrible puns and attempts at tasks and same with her best friend Claudia in the NYT. Alex Horne is a star for giving two chairs a series to unknown comedians who small minded people wouldn’t give a chance to shine…. SHINE. Mike Wozniak. Sam Campbell. Fern Brady. John Kearns. Rosie Jones. Sophie Willan. They absolutely stole the show. It’s not all about already established millionaires bringing you in - it’s not strictly. Just watch for the tasks.
Comedians are fast-thinkers. They are quick to come up with ideas, and they are showmen without needing to practice their lines a hundred times. If you look at the non-comedians, I think you will find that by and large, they are super-weak contestants. Not that they are bad people. Not that they aren't "clever". Just that they can't put all of those things together in a heartbeat. THAT is the reason I'd like David Mitchell to be on TM. He's hilarious, he's a deep-thinker, and he's just one of the fastest thinkers I've ever seen. I think of him as "Lee Mack with 20 extra IQ points". But alas, David has said he will never do TM. :(
Alex may be referring to himself as the person he has a problem with due to their ego. It seems like the kind of non-answer playful and self-deprecating humor he would do.
I think that just might be him. He had also never seen the show before. He had no idea what it was going to be. Much like Tunde, this season. Some of these comedians just have a cool persona and don't know how to be silly. That is what makes someone like James Acaster so great. He is so willing to be silly.
@ptphil64 nah that's her gimmick. Doubt it's here Dave Gorman was mentioned above as already been outed as the worst. As he cheated and didn't really engage with the format
LOL. I don't think that was Jo hating the show, or the format - that's just Jo being Jo. She's proudly lazy, and approached everything in that manner. I'm guessing she approaches her entire life in that manner at this point.
People seem so sure that it's Iain Stirling, when Greg even said on the show that Joe Lycett was kicking off backstage about his pay, and his "wanton ambition"
Could be Katherine Parkinson as well. When Alex is talking about ego I just remember the task where she refused to bother memorizing lines because she was trying to memorize lines for her West End show as well. And it was so uncomfortable when she descended into emotional blackmail to make up for how terrible her performance was. Taskmaster needs people who are able to laugh at themselves and she couldn't keep it up for a whole ten episodes.
1/ There are a bunch of comments mentioning Iain. 2/ I actually saw Greg with my own eyes, and heard him with my own ears, on the TV show Taskmaster, talking about Joe Lycett being a nightmare backstage. This isn't me speculating about contestants I didn't like. They literally left it in the edit of the show.
It'll always be a great shame we didn't get Sean Lock on TM.
Honestly, tragic.

My dream contestant is Susan Calman
Chris was useless in im a celebrity and will be useless in taskmaster too so would love to see him do it
Richard ayoade is my guest, as we’ve seen in the earlier big fat quizzes he can get so unhinged and silly. I can imagine him doing his intellectual posturing in studio and be mental in his tasks.
Stewart lee and Ricky Gervais in the same room would be interesting
"Interesting" in the same way that chlamydia is.
Yes, Eleny.... to show respect, Ms. Eleny has a wide history of various... and sundry,.
Chris for new year special 2025??! 🤣
I want to see Richard Ayoade and David Mitchell. David should do it since Victoria already did.
Chris Moyles is still around? Those who break the bro-code deserve far less.
Sounds like Chris would love to do the show .
Even though Alex has said he usully reserves the main show for comedians, I think Chris would actually be really good on it. I suppose there's always the new-year treat episode
Danny Dyer would be hilarious on TM
We need a cheaters episode
Adam Rowe on Taskmaster would be funny. Hes itching for an invite lol
It's Dave Gorman. Fact. He's said it before
I'd put money on it being Daisy Mae Cooper. She was a complete and utter c*%@ on the show.
If true then I'm surprised it wasn't Lisa Lampanelli from the US version.
@@davodity Probably wasn't even clocking her (or any of the contestants from the disastrous US series) as a possibility.
@@dizai Oh really? I'm very much NOT a Dave Gorman fan so my bias wants to believe that 😅 But I've heard Alex say repeatedly how DG was a dream contestant and he loved it etc etc, can you possibly remember where you've heard him saying otherwise?
When asked at a recent Horne Section gig in Belfast, he said Shirley Ballas. Apparently she was particularly difficult.
hear me out, ant and dec.
also william hanson…
Please please please bring on Richard Ayoade and Hugh Grant. They would grumpy each other out. Emma Thompson, Harriet Kemsley and Alison Hammond would be great in that company.
@PS-vm3we I'd fucking love Emma Thompson for a full series. She seems so warm and funny
just 'glanced' at the thumbnail and am dyslexic. thought this was a show about eating icecream cones :(
I have a friend who wears a brown hat and a purple helmet😂😂😂😂😂
I'd love to see a TM series with:
Steve Merchant
Ricky Gervais
Karl Pilkington
Warwick Davies
David Earl
Pie in the sky stuff but that would be hilarious
They said they don't anyone egotistical though
imma guess david baddiel is person for no specific reason
Ayoade, Warwick Davis, Stephen Fry, Stewart Lee (can't imagine he'd do it), Merchant, David Mitchell and Steve Coogan (in charachter as Alan Partridge).
All men from me unfortunately.
Desperate to find out who the one person who Alex wouldn't want to come back is! Maybe someone political, or generally grumpy?
They need Karl Pilkington on TM
GILBERT
I think so too, or Iain Stirling
i wish they'd drop that rigid idea of "only comedians do a full series".
The latest series has the cricket guy? And there have been a few who aren't proper comedians
@@gangrath Zaltzman is definitely a proper comedian, he's just also a cricket statician
Alex may be referring to himself as the person he has a problem with due to their ego. It seems like the kind of non-answer playful and self-deprecating humor he would do.
Who was the one taskmaster contestant they wouldn't want back. I'm guessing Jamali. He just seemed bored and phoning it in.
I think that just might be him. He had also never seen the show before. He had no idea what it was going to be. Much like Tunde, this season.
Some of these comedians just have a cool persona and don't know how to be silly. That is what makes someone like James Acaster so great. He is so willing to be silly.
Russel Howard
@@kickedinthecalfbyacow7549 any particular reason for this guess?
My guess was Julian Clary. He just didn't seem to get it.
I think it was Acaster. He was always complaining and couldn’t be bothered to participate. Funny though
Alex is too nice to be mean. My guess would be Jo Brand, because she didn’t seem to enjoy it, so just blew off several tasks.
@ptphil64 nah that's her gimmick. Doubt it's here
Dave Gorman was mentioned above as already been outed as the worst. As he cheated and didn't really engage with the format
LOL. I don't think that was Jo hating the show, or the format - that's just Jo being Jo. She's proudly lazy, and approached everything in that manner. I'm guessing she approaches her entire life in that manner at this point.
Jo Brand enjoyed it so much she helped convince Julian Clary. She just didn't express her enjoyment with giddy excitement.
People seem so sure that it's Iain Stirling, when Greg even said on the show that Joe Lycett was kicking off backstage about his pay, and his "wanton ambition"
Literally no comment here mentions Iain. Or Joe.
You don't think that maybe that was a joke? Do you also think Alex hates women, and all the other stuff he says
Luckily I can tell the difference between when someone is joking and when they aren't. Social cues aren't everyone's forte.
Karl Pilkington. Steve Merchant. Ricky Gervais. Matt Morgan.
Still want to see Ayoade, Jimmy Carr, Stephen Fry, John Cooper Clark, Ant and Dec, Simon Cowel (though he lives in America) Bill Bailey, Russell Brand
On Task Master
