Wallace was one of the few that didn't follow the Fox party line. He's being vilified for being independent at Fox. You might disagree with him, but there's no doubting he carved his own path. Fox's conservative bent just got more conservative and narrower. You'd think people would like a broad spectrum in their news service, but it looks like most viewers (commenting here at least) want no questioning of the party line at Fox.

And it's not a case of hiring journos with different political views - it's about the honchos reinvigorating journalistic standards instead of playing to a market.
There were times over the years while watching and listening to Wallace I actually looked at the banner to make sure I had not accidently flipped over to CNN.
