Is that the Esquire you had and added the neck pickup? What type of pickups are these? I have a Custom Shop Tele and the neck pickup is too bassy and muddy and the bridge pickup is not quite gainy enough. Any pickup suggestions? I like the Tele in this video.
How are you recording this buddy? Load box or mic on the combo cab. Sounds great. Your last video made me purchase an older cub 15r but mine sounds nothing like your videos. Cheers
Is there a valid argument to having such an expensive piece of gear solely as a pedal platform? I don't know. There are a lot cheaper alternatives out there if you're simply looking to get a nice base tone for your pedals
I couldn't agree more " pedal platform " with a boutique price tag ? A fender deluxe reverb, hot rod Deville even a base level Traynor or hughes and kettner 4-600 $ 20w amp set to edge of breakup then kicked into gear with the same great pedal boards should get close to the same result since it's the pedal board / "pedal platform " doing all the work no ?? Lol I'd rather an amp that does all the work on board then an extra pedal for sauce is optional NOT mandatory for great tones 🤔🤷♂️. Shame really because the hot cat and other bad cat offerings do just fine with the onboard overdrive/ gain + K master volume were great and had plenty of gain ontap.
@@Ratso_DeLynch nah - the important bit is the signal path and teh clean tonality. A top end amp does that better than a more budget one generally. Weather you add your gain via an onboard 2nd channel (which is just an extra valve stage) or a pedal (which equally could be valve driven) is irrelevant. Choose your amp based on its clean sound only - if you like a cheaper amp great, if you like its second or 3rd channel if it has them - great again, BUT the clean is the building block. All my favorites tend to be single channel, generally clean or edge of breakup sound, and normally pricey lol. I really dont like the hot rods personally, they sound quite flat compared to a really great amp. Its all personal though - we all have views and we all spend our own money - and the amount we can justify is different too......
Do you really think this is just a pedal platform? You're entitled to that opinion, but we don't think the Cub V is simply a pedal platform. It's an instrument to play.
@bad_cat_amps i just dislike the whole " pedal platform thing " as any amp can kind of do that the pedals = all the lifting , I prefer the hot cat or lynx IMHE as they are phenomenal amps for the $$$ and have great overdrive onboard the amp for rock/ hard rock just my opinion. Im in no way saying the cub sucks just not my bag. 👍🤘🙏
i have an old Matchless sc30 that John Jorgenson recommended years ago. Sold my mint jcm 800 rig 10 years ago. Also still have my original 1964 Fender BF DR no logo. and a 70’s Traynor bass head that still sounds great. Your tone sounds great❤
Really great sound and congratulations on finding a combination that whets the appetite for more. The problem with your video, however, is that you don't provide any transparency about your signal chain. Without wanting to get too close to your sound, there's far too much Harry Potter in it for me. A little more disclosure would be good for credibility.
Katana's are good amps especially for the money but Ive yet to get one do they edgy british thing well. Super cleans yes, mid high gain yes, the vox/matchless/top hat/bad cat etc thing not so much.
I really like this amp - especially the EL 34 one's.
Glorious sounding amp (and lovely playing as always).Thank you.
Cheers Steve
Great demonstration. Have a great week
Paul is the perfect demonstration that sound is in your hands. What ever gears you play, you'r sounding everytime great :)
Cheers!
Trop vrai / So true. Hands and mind also.
Funny....you would say..."Matchless" ....stay tuned Paul!
Definitely my bucket list because can't afford it now,but it's the perfect amp for everything except metal 😮❤
Sounds really good. Pricey but for what your getting its relevant.
amazing sound, waiting for tonex captures of this beauty!
Waiting for this captures ❤
Very nice demo! Sounds amazing!
Thanks a lot!
Nice demo as usual.
Cheers Roger
Beautiful (playing and sound)
Love my Hot Cat. Maybe not quite as articulate as the Cub but perfectly crosses the blues metal genre my ears live in…Bad Cat is a great company.
Awesome video Paul have a great day also last night was my half hour my friends birthday December 2❤😊
Ooo, me likey that Tele! Looks as great as it sounds.
Yeah it’s a cracker.
As it’s previous owner I agree, and part of me regrets letting it go…
Another great amp demo - sounds fantastic. Probably a little too loud for home practice though - dammit! Cheers Paul 👍
Sound like it's running zero negative feedback loop... it's got that harmonic zing to it. I'm a VOX nut.
Would be cool to see a comparison between this and the standard cub!
Lovvvvve that telecaster 😮❤😊
Great playing as usual Paul 👌🏻
Could you profile this amp for tone x like you did with your previous bad cat 🙏
Sounds unreal 🔥

Great review Paul! I am a maz 18 guy but this might be the one. What pickup is in that tele, sounds killer?
Cheers Fred, the maz is great as well. I’m afraid I don’t know what’s in the tele bridge the neck is a Seymour Duncan twang

Nice one, Paul. Was this just straight in to the amp or through your pedalboard ? Thank you. All the best.
Straight into the amp.
Three thousand Quid . That's gone up a lot . I paid GBP 1,100 for my Wild Cat 40R Head .
Set pick-ups ?
Hi, great Video! How does it compare to the TWS 2864-S? Are there similar? A comparison Video would be nice. :)
Both great, I’ll look into a comparison
@@TheStudioRats maybe a comparison with the HOOK wizard also? :-)
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great playing. How would you say this compares to a matchless lightning?
Very similar I would say.
……TONEX and Quad Cortex captures are coming when….? LOL!
Trying to decide whether to sell my Jetblack for this bad boy. Not sure if it's worth the extra dough
Thinking about the same. But this killer-sound in the video depends for sure on the pickups as well...
@Whatabeautifulday123 yeah for sure. Sounds killer though!
I think it’s worth trying out a store before you decide.
@@TheStudioRats kind of tough these days but would be ideal!
Do you prefer the cheaper Cub or the Freidman Runt
Had both. Cub blows Runt out of water
@@jsauce311 thanks,yea they sound great,appreciate it
I have a HotCat, great amp. I prefer my RedPlate Blackline.

Boom
Huh, so a $3200 amp sounds pretty good.
Who knew?
They’re more than a Friedman and a Bogner?
@@Utube-s8m Point to point, hand built yessir.
Ooh it’s pricey and weighty, sounds good t low volumes I’m sure but can it defeat a drummer and how would a ‘stage player’ use it.. ?
It’s 40 watts, it can definitely get past a drummer.
now show how these tones can be duplicated with the katana, or would that upset your sponser?
