There is no Inglorious Basterds nor Django without Landa or Dr Schultz. Majestic actor
Two great movies two outstanding performances from Waltz
You are absolutely right
Agreed. After Schultz died in Django, the movie and story became much less interesting.
Well said👍🍻 Prost
Actually there would be a Django without him because there was already a Django from the 60s
'Everybody caaaalm dooown' 😂 Dr King Schultz
It wouldn't have been possible without all the elements coming together just perfect. Chefs kiss. Maybe the perfect movie.
That actor is one of my favorite actors
Agreed. An amazing character that kept me fascinated.
I think Christoph plays my TWO favorite Tarantino characters. Its hard to rule out Jules from Pulp Fiction or Beatrix Kiddo but Landa and Dr King Schultz are phenomenal characters
Not mention this is a brilliant actor
Here here! Perfect casting!
ya ya ya Fassbender is the real G in this film lowkey 💯
Landa is like a civilised version of Joker.
Thank you so much❤
Christopher waltz is the most charismatic caster ever
One of the best villains in movie history. Hands down. Oder hande hoch? :-D
2 geniuses. I 2oyld love to meet them both some day!! 🤘😎
Love Christoph Waltz!!!!
He made that movie
I short Marshall. You owe me $200.
Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa is the most perfect casting I’ve ever seen.
When I watched this movie, I was absolutely convinced that Tarantino wrote the entire character with Christoph in mind. I'm super surprised to learn that that wasn't the case. The guy is one in 1 million and for that he gets to be in a Tarantino film. Two in fact!
And in both films… Waltz won the Oscars best supporting actor!👏👏👏
Tyrion with peter dinklage also up there
@@pierregiasson6737 He is, but for real- there simply is no one better at nailing a role more than C Waltz.
Wrong, Hans Landa as Christoph Waltz is the perfect acting I've ever seen.
I never knew that was just how he talks. 😂
I think it's his Tennessee accent 😂
@@kevlow9494it doesn’t really sound American tho, even for a southern state
@@dibsdibs3495He's German/Austrian
@@Blunder03 lmao that makes sense
@@Blunder03Austrian* different country, but yeah same language
To think that in his first 2 breakout US movies he won Academy Awards for both Inglorious Bastards & Django Unchained …he’s just incredible
I dont really like inglorious bastards, or war movies in general i guess.
Dunkirk is probably one of the best ones for the non fiction ones. Its not bad, but just didnt appeal to me like many of his other movies.
@@D3sdinova who asked loser
@@D3sdinovano one ask
He was allready an accomplished actor in Germany but, in his own words, there wasn't that much opportunity to grow further as an actor...and he even thought about going another career if he didn't make it with Tarantino.
@@D3sdinova try Patton, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, All's Quiet on the Western Front (original first), Hacksaw Ridge, Saving Private Ryan, and Full Metal Jacket.
I’ve always admired Tarantino’s enthusiasm. He’s still such a fan.
I'm so sosooososooooooo happy that Landa was not played by DiCaprio and Tarantino continued searching for C. Waltz
Troppo forte Tarantino.
He has such a wealth of film history too which makes his movies even better
Yeah he floored me one time when he referenced the cartoon Aristocats when he talked about the pulp fiction dance between uma and travolta. I was like wow this guy just loves movies. Few people get to make their passion their job.
Tarantino is spot on always! He is crazy intuitive!
without a doubt; Walzt made that movie what it is; amazing - not to take away from the other actors, but Christoph is on a whole other level! 👏🏻👏🏻
Totally
And there were some really big names in the movie. What made it even more impressive.
Too right!! All of you! QT wrote the character and only went with it when he discovered someone who could MAKE the character. Both absolutely nailed it.
Same with Django, no hate to the rest of the cast though, that whole movie was perfection
A great Actor-Human Being - God Gifted 🙏
He's such a remarkable actor
no hes not. he just plays himself. He has got no variety.
@@0Aidan0Lynch0Press X to Doubt
Ever was. I know him from Austtian-Getman movies were he portrayed a mental bus driver with a fetish for guns and rubber boots and as Roy Black. Both incredible performances.
@@patrickbateman5832Watch any of his other movies before you talk. He's great, but he's one note.
@@0Aidan0Lynch0he’s an SS soldier in real life????
I still remember seeing Inglourious Basterds in the theater for the first time… The genius of Landa’s character and that acting performance from Waltz was that it was *not* a slow burn! And it was *not* a performance that “grew on you” or that you realized was truly brilliant while the credits rolled or while you discussed the movie driving home.
Rather, from that very first scene he does with the dairy farmer, you KNOW that this is a legendary acting performance. Even though I had NEVER seen Christoph Waltz in a single film up to that point and had no clue whatsoever who he was, my eyes were immediately *riveted* to him and stayed that way no matter who he happened to be doing the scene with.
i think before inglorious basterds, waltz was only in a few daytime soap operas
Yes
You should watch green hornet, he’s in that
@@harryyyyyyyyyyy7273 I only used capitals twice. The other three times I used asterisks which show up as bold text. And I don’t do it to keep you interested, I do it to mirror the way people actually speak conversationally - which is with specific *emphases* on certain words and phrases.

I think what also made Landa so good at being bad was the way he spoke to people when he used their language. It always sounded as though he was patronizing you. Such Condescending tones and making you feel like you had half his IQ every time he opened his mouth. 😆
Good observation. That's totally it.
You did though
Exactly 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nailed it.
GORLAHHHMEEE 😂😂😂😂
Hans Landa is one of the most skillfully demanding roles in cinema history, and Christoph Waltz rose to the challenge beautifully. There's a reason he won an Oscar for it.
Absolutely. The farmer scene in Inglorious Basterds is a master class.
Its not even like they found an actor who could "play" the role - its like Tarrantino invented a guy and then they went out and actually found him 😂❤
I know Mr. Waltz in person and I can tell he's quite humble, down to earth and HIGHLY INTELLIGENT man
How did you meet him?
@@robertfraijo2229 I drove him
I'm guessing an autograph signing?@@robertfraijo2229
You don't have to meet him to see he's highly intelligent. It's funny to me that most great actors and great comedians are genius level while American politicians are clown school rejects. A sign of the times .
*Obviously.*
The acting was BRILLIANT. No one could’ve done better
Nah he is too short
So Waltz just waltzed in and saved the movie

The actor made that well written character phenomenal.
Waltz is such a genuine treasure. Hes such a gifted actor and a truly nice human being. Im here for more Tarantino and Waltz

He plays a German character in inglorious bastard:💀

Christoph is a genius in Tarantinos work. I love him as Landa he's TERRIFYING and as King in Django he's SO LOVABLE. He's a GEM!
Christoph is a wildly gifted actor 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
And Tarantino was a very very very close associate of Harvey Weinstein. Anyone care? No? No? Alright, life goes on and Hollywood keeps on turning. Oh, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is on!
An extremely talented artistic and professional actor. Christoph Waltz is VERY underrated. I love watching his performances.
In which world is he very underrated?
He played main characters in two Quentin Tarantino movies, two James Bond movies and won two fucking Oscars... Let alone he is one of the publicly most well known and liked actors.
You lost any credibility by trying to make a positive point with a negative such as underrated. If anything, the opposite is true.
Can't imagine other actors playing Hans Landa. That character is not only really genius, but also has aura with him. Not many actor has that kind of skill.
My first contact with Christoph Waltz was through an audiobook, where he read a German book - history of the world for young readers. He had such a lovely way to talk and such a calming voice (and the book was written interesting and well) that I immediately fell in love with the audiobook. I listened to it every time I was sick, which led to me still knowing huge chunks of early history (the book ends with the middle ages).
You can imagine my inner confusion, when this kind voice suddenly became the villain in everything. First „Epic“, then „Tarzan“, „Spectre“ and eventually „Inglorious Basterds“ (obviously just my order, not the actual one).
It’s always a fight between „Oh I love this man, this voice“ and „Oh I hate this man!“
Great...you've managed that I want to listen to that audiobook now 💀😂
Which audiobook was it
Add Georgetown and the consultant, too. He plays creep better than anyone.
Watch Django. He plays a very likeable character
Es gibt einen zweiten Teil dieses Buches, der geht bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg. Gibt es auch als Hörbuch, gelesen von Christoph Waltz
Waltz and Landa is like Robert Downey Jr and Iron Man. They were made for those roles.
Don't forget RDJ literally put Marvel on the map
The way Tarantino said “We’re making a movie”, you can just feel the excitement in him. Every film student probably has a moment like that. :)
I love how he said that he wasn't going to do it , if he couldn't find the right person. Hence the joy when he did find it.
No
One of the greatest characters and performances I’ve ever seen. He had me in total awe after that first scene and his impact on me just continued throughout the movie.
I felt that way with Django.
One of those few times in cinematic history when you cannot possibly imagine any other actor in the role. Brilliant!
He wrote to Django for exactly Christoph waltz. I thought that was pretty cool.
Then when you really think about it, The movie doesn't happen without him as the lead.
You know who would have made a great Django? Jamie Foxx! Instead, they got that Django guy. Damn, Foxx disappeared into that role.
Watching this man talk about his movies makes it so very clear why he is so beloved.
Always love Tarantino's movies.. The script dialogue and actors was just brilliant..
Hans landa is probably one of the iconic and interesting character ever written and kudos to Christoph waltz he just nailed every single moment and gesture in that character, he was perfect👍
As frightening as a tiger chasing you
As evil as your worst nightmare
INCREDIBLE ACTOR AND CASTING
Your comment brings to mind a quote by Marc Antony...from Shakespeare's, "Julius Caesar".
"The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft entered with their bones. So let it be with Caesar."

Not to be an asshole, just to let you cherish that quote most fully
His acting and the screen play is so exciting and captivating that they can simply be sitting at a table talking and you can’t look away.
Very true… no dc or marvel special effects nonsense… just riveting conversation that slowly builds the tension and makes you feel tense as every minute passed by during the first 20 minutes of the movie
THATS A BINGO
You just say "Bingo."
Two amazing people in the right place at the right time, thanks be to the universal mind 😮
Wow I'm so glad this movie was made ! What a masterpiece! Christoph Waltz is the perfect Landa. No one can replace him in that role
Christoph Waltz is brilliant
*The strudel scene is my favorite scene in the movie. Unreal feelings.*
Christoph is absolutely a master class of acting
The best villain Tarantino created. Just the first scene alone shows how truly terrifying Landa was.
Honestly I have never seen a better opening of a movie than that scene between Landa and the farmer.
@@EvertfromNederland Landa's shift in tone and mannerisms in one moment is amazing to see
@@vict4451 What did it for me was the palpable tension between Landa and the farmer. The viewer basically knows, or at least highly suspects from the beginning that Landa already knows that the Farmer is hiding something and the farmer can only hope he doesn't. And then the reveal that confirms this along with the swelling of the music and indeed the changing look of Landa's face and tone and the complete look of defeat and hopelessness on the farmers face ties it all together. Just talking about it makes me want to watch it again.
@@EvertfromNederland perfect description to that opening scene
My wife and I are watching "Komissar Rex" which was filmed here in Vienna 30 years ago (obviously all in German). A few episodes ago a much younger Christoph Waltz played a super-creepy doll maker. Waltz was completely believable in the role.
He can be SO terrifying. I might have to check that out, thank you!
Komisarz Alex
Arguably my favorite role ever played. Absolutely believable at all points.
He was born for that role!
My absolute word! Firstly, Quinten Tarantino is by far one of the best movie makers ever. I can watch his work countless times and always be taken in. Secondly, Hans Landa played by Christolph Waltz was absolutely off the charts. What a choice! Look into his work and you will be taken away.
It’s not just his linguistic skills he is an unbelievable actor, who delivers his lines so subtly but yet menacingly way.
Christoph scared the heck out of me as Landa. He is a brilliant actor😊
I bet Viggo Mortensen would have also played a great Landa. He speaks so many languages plus his range is top tier
Nothing against his acting chops, but he's too tall. One of the things that's so staggering about Landa is his ability to dominate someone with just his words. He almost needs to appear less than them just to emphasize the difference-maker his intellect is.
Being Danish I love Viggo, but language alone does not make a Landa. And Christoph Waltz would have made a terrible Aragorn...
viggo would have been a much much scarier landa. Viggo will forever be my fan cast for doctor doom
@patmcroin Agree to disagree. CW is scary coz he's seemingly friendly, but you instinctively know he's not. VM would have seemed threatening just by appearance.
@@patmcroinI read your comment as Christoph Waltz as Dr. Doom and now I fucking NEED it. Christoph would absolutely kill that roll. The only thing he doesnt have is the size but Hollywood has ways of making him appear bigger on film.
I love and adore Christoph!! The man is a genius..❤
He’s an amazing actor! Much respect.
I personally love Drexl, and also the dialogue between Clifford Worley and Vincenzo Coccotti. Such amazing performances and such a great movie.
Yah. He is special. He commands attention when he's working. I agree.
He’s such an amazing actor he just feels so natural and reals it doesn’t feel like his acting it feels like he’s having a conversation with the audience
Christoph is just f***ing brilliant
The terror, evil, and reality that Landa brings to what would otherwise be a goofball movie is fascinating
Yeah indeed he let's you sweat it out
A powerful argument why the Oscars should have always had an award for casting. This would have been a very different movie without Waltz.
maybe its because he has the Nadsi-stuff in his blood according to his behaviour while the Pl4nd3mie happend..........
The best scene with Christof was when he had Jew Bear 🐻 repeat his Italian over and over and over!!!!!!!
THAT SHIT HAPPENED WITH ME AT A GYM 😂
I'm fascinated to see this clip as I remember watching Christoph Waltz's STAND OUT Colonel Lando, thinking, "Danm, I'm seeing an Oscar winner right before my eyes". Genius artistry 👏 👏 👏
Its the kind of confidence and aura that one actor every decade has. That's how rare it is. Its like Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs, or Charles Dance in game of thrones. Just pure perfection on every single line and expression and their intelligence can be felt from endless miles away.
To be fair Tarantino has worked with some truly outstanding expressive actors throughout the years including of course Samuel Jackson, Tim Roth and Harvey Keitel to name a few. If you ever saw any of them in any random theatre, the play would be an absolute blast just from their acting presence. They could probably play absolutely any role as well. Mad skills.
Heath Ledger as the Joker.
Cristoph Waltz as Hans Landa.
Sir Christopher Lee as Saruman.
Sometimes, people dont act the villain, but become the villain. They live their role so well.
Lands was alright yes. But Schultz just came across as autistically self indulgent. Either way I stay away from Quentin’s latest movies cause they are revenge porn lip service films and he’s still a great director but he stopped telling stories after Kill Bill
Language creates imagination. Imagination creates reality. Crazy ideas must come first. Without leavened insanity, a film is no FUN! Real life is boooring. Movies must help an audience ESCAPE everyday life!
Christolph Waltz did 2 movies with Tarantino and he won 2 Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. I can only think of 4 movies that Christolph Waltz acted in and that’s Inglorious Basterds, Django, Spectre & Horrible Bosses 2 can anyone name any more ?💯
Tarantino directs another movie with Christoph Waltz and he will win another Oscar they have amazing feel for dialogue and timing it’s truly art…..
Complete fiction fairytale just like Django unchained. With entertaining parts in it. But absolutely no basis in reality.
Had a friend work on Django. Tarantino went missing during some takes. He had to go round and look for him. Finally found him in the crew bathroom wagon doing blow. Guy’s high as a kite and it shows.
Tarantino appears to me like a child....a little bit scary, a little bit crazy. And if i See, how brutal many scenes in his Films are, i am pretty sure, that not everything in him is healthy.
Christoph Waltz probobly one of the most underrated actors of his day . Great ,Great ,Great actor.
Americans are simply in awe of us Europeans speaking different languages.😂😅😂
People think the usa has the best actors but 97% are just entertainers. Euorpe has the best talent you ll ever find in acting. It's just sad that america doesn't like cinema. They think avengers and alike are actually "movies"
The best part about that character was that Brad Pitt made absolutely for sure that everyone would know his involvement in Germany by permanently marking him.
I think DiCaprio was in the running to play Landa, but he couldn’t quite get the languages down.
Is he the same guy that plays a DDS in the other movie?
Since English wasn't my first language, I kinda got used to watching movies online with subtitles. With Christophe, the clarity and crispness of how he delivers his lines requires no distracting subtitles at all. He must be amazing to watch on stage.
Things that happened the day they met:
- Quentin decided to make a movie.
- Quentin gave away enemies of the state he was sheltering.
Tarantino's talent is not just in writing or directing but also in perfect casting.
I was there he didnt say that... He said this movie might just work?!!!
