Put him in some place? You mean a mad house? People always call a mad house "some place."
Great video. Please never change. Psycho is one of my favorite movies and has been since my mother bought the VHS of it for me. The irony just hit me...

Finally finished this in a few parts. Really great video essay. Loved how it flowed and the logical progression of you providing different evidence and critique of film's portrayal of transexuals in horror. Also appreciated how you spent extra time on Psycho to clearly establish your point and then it was easier to reference it when talking about other movies.

Thank you so much Commentatoring! I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I basically write an (academic) essay then make it funnier and more approachable.

Props to you for thoughtful, well researched and interesting video! I do disagree that Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs was posited as a "good" serial killer. He is seductive to get what he wants and to lull the people in the film and those watching into a false feeling of safety. When he brutally murders the guards and wears one of their faces to escape, Clarice and the audience are shocked and forced to face his monstrousness.

It's all interpretation. you're is equally valid.
I do think Jame is positioned as the more monstrous, antagonist in the film. Further they way they are shown in their most shocking moments... Jame is simply dancing in a way that gendering affirming, and Lector has to commit an extremely brutal and barbaric act. Yet Jame, to many, is still seen as more of a monster due to their position in the film as the 'true villian'.

I like the glossary portion of the video. Often overlooked the importance of educating people the difference between these different terms pertaining to gender.
