I too was skeptical about the use case for the Element Drop In. However I bought one and brought it during our family vacation. I was able to pack all 5 passports in the EDI and pen for fill in forms. Also managed to keep our flight tickets and anything else in there. It spreads out the passports so it’s still very flat. The smooth texture also allowed it to be dropped into the side laptop compartment of my CTB 26 very easily. It quickly and surprisingly became my favourite kit besides the CAP 1 & 2 !
Will defo benefit from some kind of carrying handle like the CAP1. I use it for carrying 2-3 A5 notebooks and pen in my CPL 24, CTB 24 and CTB 26 in the laptop compartment. When travelling it also takes phone, passport, wallet and other bits and pieces. I would like to see wallets and similar from the material - I'm sceptical bags etc would be great in this material.
I think this is cool AF and unlike most people from what I have seen and heard so far, I knew exactly what I would use it for the second I saw it. I have mentioned before that I ride a motorcycle here in the Atl. My daily driver is my bike and as been for a long time. So needless to say I have a bunch of moto gear. Summer mesh jackets and helmets that have more ventilation, cold weather stuff Mixing in snowboard gear for the winter, and rain gear. Some of my rain gear is probably the most versatile because as you know it can and does rain all the time, and without warning here. Thats where the EDI well be great for me. I have used everything from dry bags to ziplocks and for different reasons haven’t liked anything so far. This right here has potential tough. I love the size and shape and it looks killer which isn’t a must but it helps. I cant wait to try this new line from EG. with all that said I can see why a lot of people will probably pass on this, at least in the beginning until everyone is posting their pics and uses over on CC lol. And the price I am actually ok with, but I understand that EG had to develop the material and invest in some very expensive tools, travel to find a new factory and all that coast big time, so when you fund a deal like that you gotta get your money back. Besides hopefully and I’m betting so, that this will lead to some really cool and like all gear it will be really useful to some people and not to others. But for everyone S#%t, just pass on it if its not for you. No need for all the negativity because a for profit COMPANY made something that you don’t like or don’t need…
I get what you mean when you were talking about your initial impressions. It’s a thing I find with Evergoods in that I find that you can only appreciate it more as you use it…but the initial sell is a big part of that process.
@@JBOutside1 With this hobby I think a lot of people don’t understand until they use the bag and notice the “little things” in order to fully grasp how thought out a product is.
Good question and I think the magic is in the dividers actually and the internal layout. But it's also in the manufacturing technique they're working on and probably mostly about what's next and not about this one piece.
@@JBOutside1but this isn’t new, Arcteryx pioneered these techniques decades ago, and yes Magpul uses it as well for their pouches. There others too, but too me I don’t care about fancy processes, I care about the end result. This is a luxury niche product, and someone with money to spare can find a use for it but it doesn’t mean it’s useful, and you can see that as you struggle through the video to find things to fit in it and how and even why…
Seems great for your passport and phone. Definitely seems suited to air travel where you might hand carry around the terminal and easily take out of your bag before takeoff.
Reminds me of all the waterfield tech pouches/air caddies but I like the waterfield zipper setup more, and there are more sizes and options with padding (and its made in America). The interior dividers are nice. I use the very slim modern wayfarer tech case and an alpaka zip pouch max already, so I probably won't bite on this.
Looking forward to see what else they make in this line, but i personally dont think I have much of a use case for this one. I assume its sort of a test run of the manufacturing processes for this new line by starting with something simpler
Cool video. Picked one up for the heck of it to figure out how it fits on my rotation. Slightly unrelated: Do you find the waxed canvas bags to be heavier than their standard material counterparts? Thanks!
Im interested in seeing what they do with this line. I’m all about all weather and long lasting versatile gear. I like the look, but this one isn’t for me. I mean, if someone comes up with a loadout that can improve my function/experience I’ll grab one. Im pretty open minded but there are so many water resistant and even waterproof options out there for pouches and sleeves that I can throw a strap onto for a quick carry. It’s almost like they made this so versatile it doesn’t work for me. If the sizing worked better with my iPad/documents/keyboard and it had a minimal attachment point for a strap I might be more interested. I need my quick grab pouches wearable/hands free
Thanks for the video. I am hoping to use it for my iPad Air in the unicorn 2.0. My MBP 16 is so tight in the unicorn 2.0, that I was looking for something to throw iPad + kindle in for the main compartment of the corn.
@@JBOutside1 Yes i totally understand their puprose but the cap 1 and 2 already covers this really well. The Cap 2 is not waterproof but their zips have that dwr finish. That dwr finish works really well from what i experienced. Ofcourse the design is completely different from the Cap but i was hoping for something that is intended more than just a general duty pouch
by the dimensions it looks like the field journal will definitely fit so it just comes down to the dimensions of the Bible. The EDI is 13.25" x 8.38" with a 10.5" opening.
I hear ya and I hadn't seen the pricing at the time of filming. I like this thing and it's really useful but it's not the total game changer as the CAP1 or CAP2
I agree. I’ve said it various times. The DAKA pouch is this minus fancy schmancy fabric and dividers. The dividers are cool the fabric, don’t really care, it’s going in a bag, both those aren’t worth the premium.
A ton of brands have something like this already. I don't understand what it brings except that some people will like everything evergoods does. Spending 10min trying to push or pull something out. Why? Note that I have a ton of their stuff, pouches, sling, bags, ... But I can still prefer my aer CPP over my evergoods bags.
This product is so confusing. It’s overbuilt for nearly all the use cases I see in the marketing. Ironically, everything that EG said to describe its utility in their “making of” videos I swear they said about the CAP1
I can see your points and it certainly took me some time to see how I would use this...in the end I like it and have been using this all week during travel
Video starts at 3:13 - If anyone wants a smaller version of this pouch i suggest you look up the Magpul Daka pouch. Same style of construction with protected zippers for 1/3rd of the price.
Mmmm, sort of. Something new like this from EVERGOODS required a little more set-up, but thanks for noting the "start". And there must be at least a dozen references to the "Daka Pouch" which is actually nothing like this. Now the "DAKA Lite" is another story and I offer that it is very similar and actually has an attachment point (which I really like) but it also lacks the internal organization and divider of the EDI which I really like and use a ton. But the price of the Daka LITE is very attractive for a keeping things secure and dry. Thanks for watching! 👊🏻
Daka is quite similar. Thats why its been mentioned a dozen times. Waterproof exterior, protected zipper and RF seals. Also the standard daka has attachment points.

I hope so. Smaller would be cool

Gotcha, I haven't seen those
Thanks for covering this! I have been confused all morning as to what exactly this is. I don't have any use for this, but I'm sure that someone does!
Glad it was helpful!
Use the CTB26 for airplane traveling for work. This looks perfect to take out when on the plane or for storing per diem receipts
That's a great idea

Totally the concept from what I know. Proof of concept for sure.
This EDI really makes me think of Magpul DAKA’s. Am I wrong?
Heard that a lot. On the surface I think so but the internals are way different
Seems like this would useful for carrying important documents: diplomas, birth certificates, etc.
absolutely!
Great idea a size for IPhone Max and wallet w/air pods….quick drop in 🤙🏽
I hope they make a smaller size for more "drop ins"
Cool video. Picked one up for the heck of it to figure out how it fits on my rotation.
Slightly unrelated: Do you find the waxed canvas bags to be heavier than their standard material counterparts? Thanks!
Compared to 1000D bags, no. Everything else maybe a little? But not enough to notice
Could see a nice messenger bag with that.
Cool. Yeah, this is just the beginning for that line so who knows what they'll come up with!

I mean cutting edge materials but it would have been more useful if it was like a TAD transport sleeve that can fit 13 in laptops

Thanks for the video- just wandering : what is the watch face you’re using on your ultra ? It seams I can’t find it - thanks
