I’m Haitian and I’m so impressed by African cooking! Forget going to France to learn to be a chef! Africa is where real cuisine resides! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm amazed at how flavorful and beautiful this dish looks. I'm Arab and I never knew a dish like this exists, what talented people.
thank you dear! u named it! Mama Africa is the origin of everything!
Most of the delicacies known as french came from Africa from the colonization!
@@randomness8819 yes! It seems so! We can observe where the root of good food comes from especially in central Africa and how that changes little by little going all the way up through Europe! I’ve always known that I I want to cook seriously I need 2years bag packing through all of Africa!

I am Senegalese and I am happy to see you cooked to perfection our national dish✨. Thank you. 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳
I just want to say I made this. I did my best but probably lacking. Since I'm American, I know nothing about African food, yet I have always been so intrigued by the ingredients and resources, the beautiful culture and style of the many countries. I want to learn as much as I can and your videos make it much easier to learn the cuisine. It was so tasty, and even my brother said this is the best rice he ever had! I will definitely be using your other recipes from now on since they are organized very well and clear to understand and follow. I'm so glad to have found your channel. I think I might try making signature dishes from every country in Africa that would be so exciting! Thanks for these beautiful recipes and keep on cooking ;)
Victoria, I thank you for trying this special recipe and I’m so happy you nailed it! You must try my doro wot Ethiopian chicken stew recipe! You and your family will love it🙏🥰😎
Good for you sis. Don't worry if it didn't come out right for the first time. Keep cooking it. You'll soon become a pro 🇸🇳 ❤ 🇺🇸
I’m American as well and made this for the first time tonight and it was so good! My husband is African so we eat a lot of African dishes (most made by me) just keep trying you will get the hang of it.
I'm Nigerian but when I first tasted this Benechin I had a new favorite 😍 I even flew to Senegal 🇸🇳 and Gambia 🇬🇲 and had this dish. I can say it was the best meal I've ever had. You've given me courage to try and make this dish.
Every time I see Ghanaians and Nigerians arguing over who has the best jollof it makes me laugh! Senegalese cuisine is in another level! Believe me
Khamou gnou
Yes!!! I’ve spent years learning and it’s my absolutely favorite 🤤😋😋
Yes all African foods are so delicious, but you have to know that all this Rice as different tests, the Nigeria rice as is own unique favors, the Ghana rice as also his own favors and like the Senegalese rice also as his own tests …to me as an Nigerian I enjoy good food for the best pot and cooking …is not about country but all about the good ingredients and cooking that matters ..
Me too i wonder ooo?
Facts 🤣but they're not ready for that conversation!
I'm Zimbabwean 🇿🇼🇿🇼 and I must say I'm totally impressed by this recipe. Looks so scrumptious. I'm going to have to move to Senegal and marry Senegalese lady so we can cook this together!

ooh my Neighbours are senegalese . I want to make it for them this Ramadan .🥰
I'm slowly starting to appreciate the enormous culinary wealth of the sub-Saharan Africa. I think Europe is still clueless when it comes to African food, which is a crime against palate, because Nigerian, Malian, Senegalese, Ghanian and Ethiopian dishes look heavenly! Can't wait to start experimenting with African recipies and ingredients, mere glance at those colors makes me salivate like a hungry hound!
Love from Croatia!

I'm Nigerian, but Senegalese jollof rice wins hands down
could it be another way? it comes from there lol! I'm ivorian and we also have our version called "riz au gras", that is really good, but you r right, the original version is the best of course!

Wasn't there a Jollof empire that was located in West African specifically in Senegal?. I thought the dish was named after the empire

BIG FATTTTTTTT LIE HORRIBLE RICE
@@ifeyinwamuoghalu4167 bet you didn't know that jollof rice is from Senegal. It was a mispronounciation of "wollof"
Actually Jolof rice is from Senegal, I am a Gambian and I can tell you that Jolof was one of the seven kingdoms of the Wolof tribes dating back to even before colonialization. My theory is that a Nigerian must have visited one of Senegal’s Wolof Kingdoms (most likely Jolof) tasted it, loved it and brought the Unmastered version back to Nigeria and named it after the place he tried it thus the Jolof rice and the difference in taste and the recipe. This is my theory 😊
I'm Ivorian and this is one of the best dishes I've ever ate. It's one of the most popular dishes in Ivory Coast. You know what? Senegalese food is hands down the best food in Africa without question. Mark my words.
That's why I always laugh in my headwhen I hear people brag about their "jollof rice", cuz it Ain't even a close comparison 😅😅🤣🤣

Hey there! Appart from the curry and the ginger you were spot on! You also don’t want your sauce as thick just so the rice doesn’t stick. I’m impressed tho. You make us Senegalese proud. Thank you :)

Greetings from San Cristobal, Venezuela I am studying Gastronomy and we are in charge of the African cuisine chapter, I chose Senegal to represent a dish, thanks for the recipe tomorrow I will prepare it, thanks again
So I'm guessing us Nigerians looked at all the ingredients that goes into the Senegalese jollof rice and were like all that ingredients for one meal will feed a family for a week. So we just stuck to just using peppers, onions and tomatoes. I mean don't get me wrong it tastes amazing but that's a lot of ingredients for one meal. But it definitely wins hands down. Funny thing is you never hear any Senegalese person trying to convince anyone ( unlike our dear Ghanaians and Nigerians) that their jollof rice is the best. I guess when you know you are the best you don't need to argue about it. As a Nigerian who has tasted Senegalese jollof it is the best (If you know you know).
I love your comment. It has me giggling. I'm not African, but you could say I'm someone who loves learning about world foods. To my knowledge, West African cuisine is not well known outside Africa (There might be exceptions to this in some pockets of European cities which I'm unaware of.) So, reading your amusing thoughts about the friendly competition between West African neighbors over their foods gives me joy.
Love from New York City
It’s called jollof rice because it came from us the Wollof people(Senegal/Gambia)
😄😄 you're right. We senegalese don't save money to invest elsewhere, we put everything in the food. Imagine this is only a 1 lunch... 1 meal of the day 😂. But nice comment. You Nigerian made the dish well known !!!
I tasted all of them the Senegalese one is def top tiers. The others are good too but you can’t eat it alone unlike the Senegalese rice it tastes good without anything too 😂
@@godwinejiofor8064 it's kinda true. The argument came about because of competition between Ghana and Nigeria. It wasnt really about proving that we have the best jollof rice rather that we have a better dish than the other country as ghanaians tend to argue with Nigerians about things. And it so happened to be jollof rice because it's one of the recipes that we both have but make distinctly different unlike the other recipes such as agege bread which they call Ghana bread but actually came from Nigeria. I actually noticed that the yoruba give credit to where a dish originates from but Ghana tends to claim it as their own. E.g. ewa agoyin from the agoyin ethnicity, agege bread from agege, jollof rice from wollof kingdom, etc. Either that or they keep the same name for the dish they got from elsewhere and dont rename it. But it's not to say that it isnt Nigerian food as its part of our culture but not an original thing we made.
Many Senegalese Brothers and Sisters came to NYC back in the 90's, and I love and loved them... They became family.... my family and I was introduced to this dish and we still buy it.... Now, from you, my sister, I can make it for my family....Thank you

In Senegal, there were a lot of Kingdoms, Jolof was one of them and one of it's Kings was Alboury N'Diaye, so I want to tel to our Ghanaen and Nigerians brothers and sisters that jolof rice comes from Senegalese Thiébou Djieunn.
Jolof, Olof, Wolof all come from Galsen(Senegal).

Four hours to make this amazing and delicious meal. Every hour was worth it!! I have followed the ingredients, recipe and prep to the T. Thank you so much 🙏🏾❤️
Good job Dear. I have to say though you don’t need the curry in it( not part of the traditional dish. Also we put more Pearsley in the fish relish than onions. You can also take some Bissap the hibiscus leaves that are called “oseille” in French, cover the dried fermented small piece of fish, attach it together and put in the stew. It gives a super good taste yet lemony. You can also have some shrimp in the rice and some tamarind seasoned with 2 to 3 tablespoons of the stew and set aside for those who like the flavor. I have been in Ghana for 3 years and my favorite dish there is your okra stew. Your thieboudiene is very well done thank you for choosing to make this video. 🙏

In Senegal, we pre-cook the rice using the sauce hot stream before adding it to the sauce.
Also, note that thieboudieunne literally means rice with fish. It can be red (when adding tomato) or white.
