I have known Gary almost all my life. We both grew up in North Augusta and hammed together as teenagers. I can attest to you that he has always been an avid and accomplished DXer from the get go. I called him last night after watching the interviews for the first time and (not so jokingly) told him that I feel humbled to know him. I remember with a degree of envy his first rigs almost as well as he does. In the playground of my mind I recall the worn off markings around the front panel slide switches as they appeared prior to 1960. What he accomplished "back in the day" with an NC-88, WRL transmitter and his home brew paired 807 plate modulator is astounding. His perseverance and personality enters into the equation. Well done!! Ed W4GEB ex. K4OKO

I W4ACW met Gary in 2002 at my first QTH in Matthews, N.C. He and another ham friend Rush W4QA helped me put up my first tower. Gary is such a gentleman. He invited Rush and I to his home. I did see that tower and the 80 meter and 40 meter beams on it. I think Gary had a Kenwood 870 or 850 at the time. It was a wonderful experience both days. Thanks for sharing this video of one of the greatest Ham/DXer in the world Gary Dixon K4MQG.
