The Les Paul has a thicker sound, while the Statocaster sounds more sharp.
Both guitars are iconic, and there's a reason for that

  • @CScout671

here's what I've found on my guitar journey: if you tend to favor cleaner sounds, the stratocaster is the way to go. If your playing leans towards a more dirty (high gain) sound, go with the les paul. both are great at what they do and neither really sounds like the other, it's personal taste. Personally, i use a stratocaster with a humbucker in the bridge and 2 single coils. i find the 5 way switch to be very versatile and this combination meets all my musical needs :) hope this helps.

wow, a Les Paul with a maple fretboard. I own both a Les Paul and a Strat but with the classic setup of a rosewood fretboard for the LP and maple for my Strat. I m a Strat guy first and foremost but I also love my LP. Both are great guitars, its a matter of personal prefrences between the two, you can't go wrong with either. BTW, I m about to add a new guitar to the clan, an SG standard in the coming months

Randy Durger It's a Les Paul Custom... As in Custom Shop... As in built by a pro luthier. Not gonna get in an argument about Gibson's QC either, as I have a 2013 LP Signature T that is of top notch quality, and many of my guitar-playing friends own LPs that are also flawless. You know what they say: "A few rotten apples spoil the whole bunch."

They're both amazing guitars. In my personal, totally subjective, uneducated opinion, the LP takes the cake in this instance. But, let's turn down the gain a little and then see which one comes out on top. I wonder what would have happened if SRV had an LP and Page played a Strat. The world as we know it would be turned upside down...But I'm sure it would still rock.

Great video and great concept. I really liked the run around the 1:00 mark. I just got a LP and posted a LP video on my channel. It caused me to play in ways I hadn't exploited on my other guitars but then the strat does the same as well. The killer LP tone on the rhythm pickup is hard to beat. On the other hand the bite of a strat (mine's a 73) in the bridge pickup is classic. As you know, you have to own them both. Great playing!!

From what I understand pretty much there was no easy to find left handed option. But another thing to think about it that the les paul design doesn't really work upside down as well as the stratocaster because it would restrict too many frets. In the end it could have been a matter of preference, doesn't really differ from how all of us are with having a preference for one brand over another.

My strats I play clean or with little dist, my LPs, Wash Idols & semi hollows I play usually with mid to mod and sometimes a lot of dist, and my Ibanez's, Kramers usually heavy dist. Well, The lp has a maple neck. The strat has some unnatural noise canceling pickups (looks like). Though I am occasionally wrong, I don't think you are capturing the essence of these two instruments here. Too much gain. Heavy, muddy middle. How can you tell the difference between a potato and an american strat in 480p anyway?

If any one wants to see that I'm strat correct just google any of these guys posted and you'll see a variety of guitars they play but they almost all have a by their side.

I love the sustain of the LP but I like the tone of the strat better all together

Oh man doesn't matter I loved it. Nothing like watching the mastery of the guitar. Amazing talent and both guitars sound awsome. I love the Les Paul just the look alone does it for me but they sound great. Thanks buddy excellent video

They both sound great, but it's almost as if you hear the metal frets more on the Strat, making more raw sounding.

Good video dude! Does a good job at showing the tonal differences. I own both a Les Paul and a Strat, I say they each have their own place because the tones are so different and both sound incredible.
