- This was our arrival and first day in Bamyan, we spent 3 days here where we had lots of interacting with Locals, went to a rural village, historical places and some stunningly beautiful places. all to come! i really had no idea how much Afghanistan has to offer tourists! just amazed at the natural beauty .These Buddahs were destroyed in 2001, but the history here is amazing! Dating back to the 6th Century. Monks appaerently lived as Hermits in the small caves. Bamyan was a Buddhist religious site from the second Century AD up to the time of the Muslim Conquest of the Abbasid Caliphate! as usual, i know more about the place after the fact! but i travel to learn, and it makes me want to go back!

Thanks for sharing. Afghanistan is very beautiful many tourists like yourself used come to Afghanistan during 1960 1970s prior to war and fighting in Afghanistan and enjoyed one of the purest national scenery in the world. Afghans are inherently polite friendly kind and hospitable.

To be honest now its 100 times more safer than when the US was there. People were just shoot dead for their smart phones. The government was corrupt for 90%. Now because of the taliban the criminals and thieves run away to the US and Europe. And the land is safe but slow.

What many people don’t know is the Buddha statues were actually used by the British as target practice to test their artillery when they tried to occupy/colonize Afghanistan. So it had chips and cracks and some European countries wanted to fix them in the late 1990s when famine was a bigger concern. The Taliban told them to help with the famine crisis instead of the statues (makes sense) but the Euro countries neglected, therefore the Taliban damaged the statues further. Was it wise to do that? Maybe not but the political game by those Euro countries shouldn’t be ignored either

I don't think I've ever come across any UA-cam blogger who's actually visited Palesrine so you could be the first, all it takes is a little courage which you seem to have. That's a place you should visit when the time is right and safe to do so. I guarantee you will love it the especially in the old city. It's an amazing place .
