This is haute-haute couture. This is spectacularly opulent, richly voluminous, and dreamy beyond dreams. I love the gorgeous cast of models, models of colors, different sizes, and ages. This show is, in a word, perfection.
Spectacularly opulent ? Omg, you must never have heard of Guo Pei or Iris Van Herpen. Chanel, Dior and Valentino are ones of those big houses that became boring and lazy. The 3/4 of those looks are just very expensive ready to wear.
@@earthur715 Yes, Guo Pei and Iris Van Herpen are amazing, but neither of them had shows this haute couture season.

@@earthur715 Yes, I know you're being sardonic, but more than likely it is because haute couture shows are expensive to present and they have diminishing returns. Even established houses like Armani Prive and Maison Margiela have opted out of the show schedule this year.

What a beautiful collection and casting of models just spectacular. To see real shaped woman in Haute Couture is so refreshing to me.
Interesting comments. I'm still in a state of almost hypnotic calm. Say what you will but this show/collection was powerful in it's ease, he is a master and brought forth his most ethereal collection to date. The theme was purity, well past modern, it was majestic. The inclusivity cannot be stressed enough, showing his respect for all women and their unique, individual beauty. It seems a shame to criticize based upon our expectations. It was moving and unforgettable.
So glad to see high fashion embrace all women of different sizes and colors. He is in a class all by himself- superior job!!!!
Now the world is full of “trendy”stuff, but feels like Valentino keeps being itself, Valentino is still the Valentino, like always ♥️ And the pieces do look worth the money! Gorgeous collection
And it’s sweet to see the gentleman help models on the stairs :)

What makes "fashion" interesting to me is the way fabric and color drapes over differing bodies evoking memories, impressions, feelings. Magnificent embrace of what I always wanted to see. Thank you!

When Pierpaolo took us back to classic 60's couture a few years ago, I was exhilarated by his liberty. So many designers were so cerebral about their approach, thinking couture had to be innovative, strict and avant garde. But Pierpaolo designed what he felt: a rainbow of hue, effortless volume, soft structure, elegance, texture. It was referential, but at the time, it was appropriate. He's still adhering to those signatures, but it seems to have become laborious. The poetry is missing. Its somber, its calculated..."this is what they expect from me". The joy is tempered. This, to me, would be a good time to evolve. Giving us classic haute couture is not enough anymore.
Agreed. A full resurgence of the classical 60s haute couture would be welcome, but it needs to be truly chic and fabulous in that gorgeous and sophisticated way that it was at the time. It was more than just the silhouettes, it was a certain attitude that this modern couture generally lacks. The technical skill is there but it lacks that spark, that soul, that character. At this point in fashion more or less everything that could be done has been done, so it's time to bring back the classics but in a modern way. New materials, new colors, more diverse models, new techniques.
So much of the looks in this collection just didn't stand out in any way, or in a bad way, like that one gentleman in the black t-shirt and long leather ball gloves.
Fashion has lost touch with itself, and I think we need to accept that and move on. Bravery does not mean throwing standards out the window and embracing absurdity.
It's still refreshing, especially when you see what's coming from the other houses. Yes, he's both referential and forward thinking, and keenly aware that it's the House of Valentino and not Pierpaulo.
@@sigisings Which is unfortunately why I think these houses should retire with their namesakes. That's just my opinion, though.
@@Sweetthang9 That would be an interesting business model, not too mention job loss for the highly skilled workers. These are corporations, not Mom and Pop shops.

It is so nice to see the models walking at a slower pace so that you really can see and appreciate the beauty of the dresses.
I feel like I have seen all of these pieces already in his collections, it was spectacular a few seasons ago but no is repetitive
Finally someone who really see the "nothing new" in this collection. Where are the gorgeous, elegant, real haute couture gowns Valentino used to create? I understand that the world is trying to adjust itself to some new rules but, as much as a designer can compromise to these, i think STILL, the elegance, finesse and sophistication of Maison Valentino shouldnt be changed! I mean, I dont need to see some kind of "Agent Provocateur" look a like pieces in a HC Valentino show, sorry

they never get it wrong. all the couture shows I've seen are all so damn gorgeous.
I really want to like this, and I do, but ....... thematically, it seems all over the place. There are sleek minimalist gowns with cut outs, ( so sexy and chic ) ruffled capes with voluminous skirts ( so romantic, yet restrained ), short cocktail dresses, ( younger customer ), pantsuits ( career woman ) its all beautiful but they are not connected stylistically to each other. Maybe that's the point, different looks, for different occasions, even women with different tastes in style. The menswear looks were disappointing, they were good, but nowhere unique or any way different from RTW for men by Valentino. Maybe the theme is minimalism, this is minimalist by Valentino standards with signature strong colors, classic shapes, very little prints and embroidery, but sequinned fabric throughout for texture, separately, each look is great and will cater to different tastes, because it looks like a collection of different styles.

Nice models, a real effort in diversity. And I liked the colours.
This being said : how is a black t-shirt and loose pants…couture ? Or a beige robe ? Some looks are great, the lines are clean, but overall it’s nothing new. The men’s looks were particularly disappointing.
