Sadly no. :( They only say "Hello Friend" But Cranky does recognize them! :)

The only thing that caught me by surprise in this set is it had Rheneas’ whistle giving me hopes for the Skarloey engines to appear in AEG.
I knew that whistle was familiar! I hope they will! :D

The set is interesting and quite cool on its own Cranky is huge, He has different phrases, And interacting with some other characters is such a delight especially the CGI counterparts.

You dont remove the batteries to get him to stop talking the way to get him to stop talking is hold the red button with the T letter for 5 Seconds keep holding it until it the red button stops glowing it works all the time

I never even thought a Talking Trackmaster Cranky would ever exist! I don’t have the set but judging by the video it looks absolutely spectacular and I’m really glad Mattel decided to make this set! I don’t like Cranky’s voice, it sounds like Robin Smith’s Sir Topham Hatt voice and it doesn’t sound like Cranky’s voice from any era of the show and I wish there was another character could’ve been in this set instead of Thomas and I think Mattel missed out on making a Talking Trackmaster Salty here! But aside from that everything else is perfect in my opinion and I think Cranky and the troublesome truck fits in perfectly with the CGI Styled talking engines! I wish more sets had the same level of quality as this one but I’m just glad it exists!
I agree! It's so cool to see interactive destinations like this and I hope it continues! :D I too dislike the voice I thought of Sir Topham the first time I heard it too. And I wish they would have had Salty too. Hopefully they'll make him in future! :D
I honestly am considering getting this given it’s been on clearance at my local Walmart for a while now. If anything I’ll get it to grab more trackmaster 2 style track for my old trackmaster classic and trackmaster 2 engines. Also, I find it refreshing to be shown AEG stuff in a positive light. As much as I dislike the show, I love how well made the merch is. The push alongs are really well made, and the motorized engines are pretty decent! They actually utilize the trackmaster 2 motors a lot better! Though I do wish you could connect the old trackmaster 2 connecting rods onto the new engines. I tried it, and because of the new front wheels they don’t fit…
This is a great AEG set with IE Thomas and accurately sized Cranky. But If it was CGI only and Salty could be added. It would fit the theme better

I wanted a Plarail engine since I never got in my entire life but I thought I was gonna get one but nope, this set was good tho so I’m grateful of what I got

Thomas' voice in this set sounds like a unique mixture of Ryder from "PAW Patrol" and Doraemon from the British English dub of "Doraemon (2005)". It's not the same as Meesha Contreras' voice as Thomas, but it is still good. I bet that might be Kai Harris' take from the upcoming third season of "All Engines Go". Otherwise, great review.
Why couldn’t we get stuff like this for the original show. The quality of the current merchandise is amazing for AEG. That’s probably the only thing they have over the old show.
I agree! The Merch is spot on! I wish we'd had this level of detail with the CGI series. Mattel can do great things when they put their mind to it!

Hello! Unfortunately, the Talking Cranky doesn't have an off switch. The only way to get him to stop talking to the other Engines during play is to remove the batteries or take him out of the room. I wish there was though!

How do I change the battery of Thomas?
3:49 there's a shot of Thomas from the bottom, you'll see a screw on the right, loosen the screw and the body shell will remove, revealing the battery compartment. Then you can change the batteries! Just reverse the process to put it back together! :)

Hi! Unfortunately the only way to get Cranky to stop talking is by removing the batteries. There is no switch and he will randomly say a phrase are two even long after use.

Hi! I have had issues like that with Talking Nia. Did you try changing the batteries to fresh ones?

Does Cranky play music on his own, or can he be used entirely without playing any music?
The part that plays music and recognizes engines is a separate piece that gets connected to the base with 2 screws! Cranky was a 1 time snap but with some prying and trimming he could be removed and used separately! Though the weight of the arm may make him fall over. (Just remember to ask a parent or guardian before doing any custom work on your trains or before using tools!) :)
@@TF47I already understand that, what I mean is, does the music ever play through interactions, or only if you press the music button? I ask because I’d prefer to use him with no music whatsoever, if I end up getting him.
Oh sorry lol, yes music only plays when you press the music button at least so far from what I've seen!

Help please !!!
So me and my son have brought this cranky and he’s not interacting with any train, even the one he came with. The buttons work, but I can’t seem to sync him with Thomas and any other AGG trains etc. I had this problem with a train before and removing and reinserting batteries did the trick. Is there a way to sync them I’m not aware of???
Hello! I'm sorry to hear that! I've never had that issue before. After you replaced the batteries in the unit, did you try holding down the red talk button on Cranky's base? I tried that and it glowed red for a moment before turning off. It might be a way to reset it.
Also make sure the switch is not in the try me mode.
My talking cranky the only time he interacts with diesel is when he says hey diesel and bye diesel which is disappointing bucasue it's the first talking set in all engines go he pays so much attention to thomas more
And diesel says hi cranky only to him

Where is the Talking Button of The Troublesome Truck?
The truck doesn't talk from the model, only from Cranky. So it sounds like the truck is talking but it's not from the model. Kinda like they did with the CGI Thomas where Thomas had Annie and Clarabel sound effects but they didn't talk from their models. :)
