Helicopter air to air refueling with HC-130J at Nellis AFB.
Camera: Shot at 2.7K SuperView with GoPro Hero5 Session
Song: Song: DayBreak (GoPro Hero 3 Edit) by OVERWERK
Location: Nellis AFB
Aircraft: USAF HH-60G Pave Hawk, USAF HC-130J "King" - Авто та транспорт
I’m amazed this is even possible. Flying in the tankers wake, downwash of the rotors and inherent instability of RW aircraft. Very impressive!
Yes, thats because the Blackhawks and CH 53s have a High speed, able to refuel by a Tanker plane. however it takes a bit of practice though because You might struggle as it how desperately is dangerous if you move the helicopter too fast, like to the left or right.
FW pilots be bitching about a crosswind while these Pilots are flying in 360 degrees of turbulence.
Hats off to you Sir. Thank you for your service.
That's a pretty accurate description of the turbulence off a Herc!
It didn’t look so bad in the other video over the water, but the view from the back of plane showing the heli porpoising is something odd to see. I cant say I would maintain the 2 inch Cyclic throws you guys do.
not an easy thing to do considering how fat and heavy Pedro is lol
@@HH60GDriver That gave me so much anxiety, I can only imagine the focus.
WOW! Dangerous and exciting at the same time. Stay safe and when you get enough time in your schedule; please make more videos. I salute you.
That is one stable drogue! I remember them doing figure 8's and really getting unstable if you dinged the metal arms to the donut. Dark nights, clouds and way out to sea, yep, still miss it! Nice job plugging in!
Yep! You know the deal, somedays it's easy and somedays it's impossible...
@@HH60GDriver Impossible is not an option with survivors on board. You keep switching pilots until you get gas.
Outstanding! Your connections are synchronized to the drop Perfectly!
Simply stunning
Now I see why they have that long stick 😂👍
Imagine chopping off the fuel line with the Rotors
Happened. It wasn't the hose but the probe
@@Feuergraf thankfully it was a sea stallion so the probe broke and not the rotor, could have been a disaster
It's happened before unfortunately!

Here's the exact call the Load makes: "HOLY SHIT! Uh... Chaos 52 breakaway breakaway breakaway cut hose holy shit"
Cool hellicopters pilot experience 👍! Thanks for the video !
Wow Fantastic sir! Thanks for sharing!
Being somewhat of an above beginner at FSX, I can confirm this is extremely easy to do.
#fact
Can you do it FSX, don't think they even have that option? DCS now has a UH-60L mod that does it.
@@Flyingzypher Nah, it was a bare faced lie.
@@Chris-eo5zs, I get you, seeing how some gamers claim how easy everything is. And how media is picking up on game footage.
Oooh, so THAT'S how Ospreys are made.

😂
Awesome!
Great Job
excellent video
Killer, Jolly - [Retired] MCJ/HCJ EP teaching at KIKR Schoolhouse Sims since '20 - Just found you on UA-cam. Keep the footage coming, as we'll use it for the next generation. Best, -Linda
Now that is skill!
Thanks! Video is not too long.
Pretty cool how that huge airplane can stay up while moving so slow
These are our super heroes
That is one fast helicopter.
uh60 is best elicopter,congratulation jolly
There’s something just so wrong about helos refuelling from a c130 that I love so damn much
Question: do you guys purposely sit high while refuelling so that when you lose the contact the basket doesn’t go up into the rotors?
Was thinking about the same, would makew sense, in case something snaps or you disconnect, it wont slap you out of the sky :D
It's mostly to get us out of the turbulence down low!
Think about the rotor disc, then think about all the things that could go wrong - holy shit, RESPECT.
Meh thats pretty Chaotic if shit goes down
god job !!!
Una de las maniobras más peligrosas en vuelo de helicópteros, solo para pilotos expertos y con nervios de acero...👍👍
Hey, great video mate. Can I ask which software do you use for editing?
Just iMovie!
jolly_pilot thanks!
More videos please

Nice man. What mount/cam do you use?
GoPro Session with an NVG mount!
Jared Owen, you're right

man arma 4 is awsome
As a helicopter pilot this scares the crap out of me. Only a momentary pitch down and your helicopter becomes a lawn dart.

One of the best my dreaming positions is yours.
All the best
Greeting from Taiwan.
No music please.
Original sounds please.
Great video!!!
You guys are so fucking cool, I love it.
What was your speed while refueling?
When I was transitioning to HC-130s I went back to watch the 53s hit the hose.
I looked out the troop door port and saw those whirling blades and it was holy shit that’s too damn close to my airplane. I couldn’t take it, I went back up front. Ignorance is bliss.
#fact
Oxxnarr D'flame You should look when they are refueling from the right wing. They are the width of the aircraft closer. The HH-53C was bad, but the H-53E variants are bigger and even less clearance. Usually the refueler crabs right when right side refueling, or they did in my day, when dinosaurs walked the earth!
Dennis Brooks the engine out was even more disturbing when you came in below them and they would dive for the hose.
Oxxnarr D'flame We shot backward autorotations to the numbers when flying Huey's and the TH-55, but it was no joke in the HH-3E. A lot of weight and inertia to offset. I was fortunate to only have to do an auto to the ground once. I was a Functional Check Pilot for a while and all the aircraft with significant repairs got a flight with me first before returning to service. Similar to the Acceptance Test Pilot work, every airframe out the doors at Sikorsky was flown until it passed all the tests, then the military, Army, Navy, Marines or Air Force would pay for the aircraft and we would deliver for shipment or upgrades for mission use. Bad weather with a torn, erratic drogue and the other hose sour was the worst I saw in refueling, though in and out of clouds at night was a real challenge. The pilot not on the controls would keep his eyes closed and hands on the controls, following the flying pilot. With the lights on penetrating a cloud was like driving into a drive-in screen. The flying pilot was effectively blind. The other pilot would take over. Ir was a real interesting time when you were moving for contact and lost your vision. That was a case of have to or lose the aircraft and risk losing the crew. Fun times.
@@dennisbrooks240 That sounds fun at night in the clouds.
Always thought it was a fullton balloon grabber
This must be the hardest thing you can do in aviation!
allo.its amazing impressive job.can you manage this in storm or nightvision? godness ....the guy pilot c130 really ....is possible more slow speed to this? its to dangerous, extra is full weight for refuel.very impressiv.thank soo much for share.
Thank you! We do this at night. This is as fast as we go and as slow as the C-130 goes.
Афигенно
Сикорский уехал в американию и у нас все стало, а так бы щас ми 8 за ил 78 бы педалировали😂😂😂
This music isn’t what I come to hear I came to watch helicopters and hear helicopters.
Do you practice cross-cockpit refueling or hot seat swaps for when the pilot does not have the touch? Hot swap is FE replaces pilot and holds steady. CP steps out and Pilot takes his seat and the aircraft. CP swaps with the FE and resumes the evolution. I have found that all FE's should at least be able to fly the aircraft. Good if they can land it also. I know of one FE that brought an aircraft back after both pilots were badly wounded. The Squadron CO wanted a Silver Star for him, the Base Commander apparently wanted to court martial him for not being rated to fly!
Unfortunately our cockpit isn't accessible from the back! So we can't hot swap or stretch our legs.
Sure it is. You just slow down, open the door, step on the gear, then in through the window. You don't have to go between the seats. You still wear parachutes while air refueling? You can even rig a pole stored above the door to feed a gunners belt up through the open door if you have a thing about being outside the aircraft in the air. I have some fine photos from the right sponson of the HH-3E during aerial refueling and medivac off ships. In refueling you have enough speed that even low level the parachute will open. I have opened at 300 during HALO and it is a hit, but nothing broken and no sprains if done right. I don't recommend this, but it beats crashing out of fuel. What happens on the mission... Just don't include the slides in the Squadron in-brief. Some narrow minded people object to creative solutions
Understand, that I have been there. My patches read "Night Hawk". I was the Program Manager that killed the H-60 as an H-3 replacement. Under powered, too small, no room or capacity and more. Totally unable to meet the original mission in the Request of Proposal. I was the Acceptance Test Pilot as they came off the line when Congress forced the buy. By contract, it was never the Pave Hawk, coined by Hurlburt, it was the "Credible Hawk" because it would do a "credible" job of the mission. All BS. I have the original Dash One showing equipment that never made the G and only some on the W. I had weights put in for all the equipment in the Dash 1, most of which did not exist at the time. The A model engines would not budge the aircraft, not even to decompress the struts. On your knees to treat wounded, please... Understand I have the greatest respect for the current and previous H-60 Rescue, Sprout comments aside.
I noticed an early upgrade was to engines I recommended since the A model H-60 were totally unsat! The SH-60B would have been a better airframe, still not mission capable, but much better to fly and salt water protections. The pilot has an easy time, stepping on the refueling probe mount, then back through the gunner's window. I flew them before the probe was put on in Troy, AL and you can step back on the gear mount and into the gunner's window. Again, and emergency only action, but possible. It is piss poor support of Rescue to keep buying the H-60 airframe when so many better alternatives are available. Besides, you miss the monthly fishing with a boat hull!

jolly_pilot What did you do, put rifle and other racks up than obscure the access and no longer have an interactive crew chief to reach the center console when you forget?
jolly_pilot Do you find Low Level light overlaid with IR disconcerting with you look down and see the ground whipping by through the floor of the aircraft?
Oh so helicopters are gonna be added to turboprop flight simulator?
My mind soo dirty....😂😂😂
все круто видео супер! но зачем дозаправка вертолетов?))))
I didn’t even know this was a thing.
Are you wanting some fuel or are you just happy to see me..??
Would i still be able to fly a heli if i use glasses?
No
It depends on what your uncorrected vision is. If it’s not terrible, for example 20/60 or better, then yes. If it’s worse then I’d recommend lasik or prk.
hi K...

must be good eyesights vision 18/18 or 20/20...
best use a safety googgle
Probe & Drogue “These Things We Do, That Others May Live”
The music really takes away from the video. I'd rather hear what's actually going on
Little known fact, helicopter engines actually sound like EDM
Sounds like Deadmau5
Agreed. I'd rather hear the blades and the engine then that wanna be 2000s techno

Out of Kirkland? Mountains look familiar

is soo dificult?
Yep!
Hello jolly good

Don’t forget to turn off your engine when refueling

Actually, I heard a bar story where the tanker entered a dive to refuel an engine out fighter.
Man ..flying a heli is difficult af
Why are they towing these helicopters?
So the C-130 is "only about" 100 knotes fast?
Yea. Interesting. Seems like the Pave Hawks can cruise between 120-140. C-130 stall speed is just around 90 knt with full flaps. Full Flap limit speed is around 140 so I wonder why they are going slower? Maybe there are limits with rotor wash @ speed while refueling? Dunno - did airdrop in a C141 back in the day, never anything like this with rotor aircraft.
@@titanium5 During HAAR we don't go any faster than 130 kts because the drogue will break if we do.

nvm DayBreak (GoPro Hero 3 Edit) by OVERWERK :-)
This vid proves there's zero need for petro dispensing unions 😁
Thumb down for music!
!Join my clan in Clash Royale!
music ruined the video
When you suck in API Pensacola and primary Whiting Field ... that’s what you get to fly at 100kts 😂
Da braucht man einen ruhigen Kopf und Hände interessant zu sehen
Damn! Those Black Hawks take a beating from the wing tip vortices from the HC-130! You can see that the vortex coming off the port wing tip wants to spin the helicopter's fuselage into a barrel roll! This is an example of fantastic piloting skills that the US armed forces are well known for! Bravo, guys! Thank you for your service to our nation with defense of the US homeland, its people and its precious, but now abused US Constitution that the far right must stop! Anyway, men and women in uniform--Bravo! Job well done!
Making everything about politics is a mental illness.
Dude I’m surprised you managed to do that as smoothly as you did due to the size of your balls! Awesome.
fu@&* those guys can fly
These things we do, because we are paid,
There was no need for music on this video.
Awesome vid but don't do music. We don't like music. We like the sound of engines and air. And comms. We love comms. But not music.
Another potentially good video ruined by overlaying the original sound with Eurodance..
why have that bloody music ,
Nice video but the music is terrible
No music please. At least, not this kind
that music made my ears bleed. What a waste of a good video.
Music sucks
When shit music ruins what would otherwise be a cool shot.
