Everyone back then had such cool nicknames. Today it would be “Teddy the McDonald’s Big Cheese” or “Latte Laurence” which doesn’t have the same ring to it as Vlad “Hater of Sunlight”.

Alice the Vicious is also worth mentioning. She was in the group of Normans of Strongbow, that occupied Ireland, broke the legs and arms of people and threw them into the sea. Alice herself killed 70 men in one afternoon, because her lover had died. Also the Icelandic Viking known as "The Childlover", but that's because he didn't like tossing toddlers up in the air and impale them on spears. Vikings have tons of colorful characters, with names like Bloodaxe, Bluetooth, Forkbeard etc.
Bloodaxe was known for having his axe full of the blood of his enemies, Forkbeard was known for his extravagant facial hair that instilled fear among his enemies and Bluetooth was known for having a maximal range of 21 - 28 metres and pairing to a single device at a time.
This was really interesting and insightful. Seems there's not enough videos highlighting people during this time in history (aside from the usual ones). Well done :). I hope you decide to do more vids similar to this.
Recently finished reading the The Leopards of Normandy series, in which the character of Mabel appears. Her wicked deeds are re-told in a format of a historic novel. Quite an enjoyable read overall, if anyone is interested - mind you, the books center around the Dukes of Normandy rather than her.
As horrible and gut wrenching as Andronikos's horrible treatment at the end was... well, he did clearly have a love of pain and death, and although others did not share his enjoyment of it he still gave it out widely and freely to so many others, so as much as torture and death aren't most people's cup of tea it would have been a terrible injustice not to repay a small part of his bountiful charity, unusual as his sense of charity was, back to him. I'm sure he thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated it towards the end.
Love the way these are both so well put together and illustrated, another great end to the friday with the medieval madness feeling, watched each one but I want to brush up from beginning, feel a marathon might had to be done here. 😊
Respect. Get into your chair or couch, set the wood on fire in your oven, seeing the flames, turn on your tv, go to UA-cam and watch medieval madnesses and have a glass of whiskey. Sounds chilling. Can I Joyn? 😁 sorry for grammatical and spelling errors, I am not native English speaker, btw you look 😊
Bathory would be questionable. She was imprisoned for life, not killed because there still were enough people in Hungary who believed in her innocence. And "mysteriously" her possessions passed to other hands more amicable to the crown... It's thus not really so clear cut that she did anything wrong. Not forgetting to mention that the servants that declared against her were tortured to do so. Unless you mean this Bathory -->>> ua-cam.com/video/Kf1eatKdONs/v-deo.html&start_radio=1
This channel is really well put together. The content is really interesting , you must put so much research and time into it. In my humble opinion your videos should have a lot more views. Mabel de Bellême is the ancestor of Eleanor of Castile (wife of Edward I ‘Longshanks’ of England & mother of his children) so if you’re descended from her she’s also your ancestor.
I'm interested in how they managed their social status and were able to move around regions and connect with others of their same status. It's clear that most of us will never know the world of the highest class besides their modes of transportation, such as yachts, private jets, etc.
Okay, the guy with the beard, if you look down to his belt us is a golden sword handle, and at the hilt of the sword, you will be delighted to see a puppy dog head. I think the hilt was supposed to look the way it does, and so goes the cartoon puppy on the butt-end of a death machine. I mean, maybe it's just me, but that looks like a golden dog head, and the dulled edges of the bust make it look like a cartoon. Other thing: What are the things at the end of the pommel of a sword, the kind in the picture to be sure, but are they part of the handle, or added on after? I don't understand swords...
My like and comment, Great informative video. I wounder what the percentage of "the dark triad" was amongst the leadership of the old world. If it was in fact the same as today 30 - 40%

I don’t see how the throne could possibly be more important than a brother.. but I guess they grew up with different standards and it was just a different time back then.
