A lot of these comments are exactly why black people are still angry. This comment section is full of white people who either: a. don't know the history of the us, or b. think slavery was no big deal. Both of which come with the perceived racial superiority that allows them to lecture black people on how to deal with a country that has never liked them when they themselves have never experienced that. Someone asked me what it's like to be black in america. And my response is always the same. It's exhausting. You experience life, all while people are telling you that what you're experiencing isn't real. It's like an episode of the twilight zone, honestly.

What Maron failed to get it that Patrice was speaking at him, not to him.

Are you referring to Patrice's statements and philosophies in this clip in general? Or the fact they both grew up in Boston back in it's rougher days?
And, oh, a piece of semi related trivia for you or anyone else interested : Farrakhan also grew up in Boston, where he was a child prodigy on the violin (I only learned this because he had been an alumni of the highschool I graduated)
earl pipe Patrice used to jokingly refer to himself as Malcom XXL :)...I think the influence is very visible in his approach to life..integrity and keeping it real and honest on things that were important to him...

A genius who was also the greatest jester in the court. What a combination.
As Brett Weinstein stated on Rogan; racism is a part of our DNA. All of us, though, so universal to humans as a species. It often comes out in tribalism or us vs. them.

I’m baffled by the racial animosity when in New York. Fucking hell.
I’ve been living in Brazil - a country with a history of slavery and oppression - for over a decade and I’ve never had a problem sharing brews with black people at the bar...people.
Everytime I hear his voice I grow as a person. And laugh 😃
American slavery has no face but white to hold accountable while the Jewish plight had a specific leader and followers to hold accountable. Hence the generalization of all white Americans as possible descendants or proponents of the oppressor.

The closest people I can think of we may have to Hitler would be Willie Lynch, Jim Crow, and Margaret Sanger.
Willie Lynch wasn't a real person, at least not in the time period that the letter was allegedly written in.
If what you're saying is true, who delivered his speech at the bank of the James River in the colony of Virginia in 1712?
Thomas Jefferson (wrote the Declaration yet had slaves), Roger B. Taney (Dred Scott Decision), 99% of the white deep South.
We need him back!!!
Big Pat could go deep, he is missed‼️
This was great, especially the end part about busing and South Boston High School being a civil servants exam school. I've been in school for education a while and taken a lot of classes about racism in Boston-area schools, but nobody has mentioned the reality that Patrice did.
FUCK YES. so much truth here. fucking god damn it i miss this fucking guy. the people we need the most are taken from us all too soon.

God bless you Patrice
Patrice should have been an optometrist for the way he's opening eyes here. Waaaaaay deep.
so deep, this needs to be a talking point on newer podcasts
I would be very curious to see Patrice’s take on race and politics today. I know he wouldn’t be a social justice warrior but I know he would speak objectively and have an interesting ‘brutally honest’ take. I bet he would have find the far left and far right stupid but have his own unique take on discrimination like he did here.
Michael Citrenbaum his take on the last six years or so would be epic.
What he speak on hasn't changed so if he were here today, the conversation would be the same.
He'd shit in trumps mouth..
Patrice might’ve gone into the wrong field, he should’ve just been a philosopher and did comedy on the side. Well, I guess that’s what he did, but I mean he literally should’ve been an academic philosopher. He was an amazing, but extremely fair and objective mind.
I love how mad Patrice got for the guy not seeing Rambo lol, that’s classic Patrice.
I say this all the time. This f’ing WAS an unofficial sociologist.
Can you imagine if Patrice got to the book they’d joke with him about writing? Can you imagine what that man could have done with a podcast today?

A lot of these comments are exactly why black people are still angry. This comment section is full of white people who either: a. don't know the history of the us, or b. think slavery was no big deal. Both of which come with the perceived racial superiority that allows them to lecture black people on how to deal with a country that has never liked them when they themselves have never experienced that. Someone asked me what it's like to be black in america. And my response is always the same. It's exhausting. You experience life, all while people are telling you that what you're experiencing isn't real. It's like an episode of the twilight zone, honestly.
