  • Projectors are getting smaller and far better so I thought it was time to look at seeing how small a projector we could get for the van for movie nights and also when we have meetups and want to watch everyone's best videos. So I tried out the Apeman M4 and the Blackview Max1 - the latter is actually a mobile phone with a built-in projector.

    ive had a couple of small projectors that weren't great. I now have a Apeman m4 dlp mini portable pocket projector that i also use with the firestick and ps4.It supports 1080p and its recharable.I power it off a powerbank and its really quiet and the picture is brilliant.I think it was around £180 off amazon.

    What a cool little projector, very impressive too. Great idea to use the card as a screen, much better than a fixed TV. I was considering taking my small 19" TV with me in the van and running it off the inverter, am now thinking this might be a much better and more versatile option.

    Well done, John. Please don't say "Alexa" in the video-- haha. I'm not surprised the phone was a dud. As is the case with many cheap Chinese phones, they build it to trumpet specs on a box, rather than actual quality of the features. Clearly they just slammed a projector into the case without dealing with any of the real issues of creating a projector that works well such as keystone, focus, etc.

    Hi John and Mandy,
    On a recent video by someone else (you were all at a meet up), Mandy had cooked a stew in an instant pot. I was wondering if you could maybe talk about how you find the instant pot, as far as power draw and ease of use in the van goes, please? Also if you use any other type of electrical kitchen items (blender, slow cooker, air fryer, etc) would love to know your thoughts on their viability for vanlife.
    It's something I have been considering for when I get my van, and because I am still in the planning stages, I am still very much worrying about battery size, solar panels, and making sure I have enough power for everything.
    Thank you, and sorry for the huge comment. 🙈

    Hi John, great review. A couple of questions. Can you stream from your iPad to the small projector downloaded iPlayer or Netflix programmes? Thanks for your UA-cam on 4g boosters, I now have the same setup in my motorhome and it Work’s really well. Now that you will be relying on mobile reception who do you use as your mobile data? Have you thought about Skyroam? It seems a bit expensive to me. Good luck with your house sale...

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  5 років тому

      Hi Brian, the projector only has hdmi input, you can use a Firestick and that supports AirPlay from iPad or iPhone.
      Skyroam is just an expensive version of my 4G WiFi setup, skyroam also has limited data too.

    • @johnmandy

    Thank you John, another great video. Just one question please, when using the Amazon Fire stick do you need the fire stick plugged into mains power? I've just bought an apeman projector but noticed that my fire stick needs mains power !

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  4 роки тому +2

      The fire stick uses a usb A to micro usb cable so you use the apeman USB port to power the fire stick.

    Hey John.
    I've got a Xgimi Z6 projector, 240v obviously but I was wondering if there's a power adapted that would run it in DC..
    Output power is 19.0V---3.42A
    They're a brilliant portable projector that we use in the garden on a evening 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  4 роки тому

      If you have a set screen size then you move a projector closer or further away, that’s how projectors work 👍🏼

    • @sherripowell7285

    Hi I’m building my own camper van and have placed a 12v socket in the ceiling to power a mini projector like the apeman you reviewed. Can i power/recharge it from a 12v socket and does it have bluetooth capability or do you recommend i run an audio jack/cable through the ceiling to a speaker point before i finish the ceiling? Thanks, karl.

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  5 років тому +1

      It’s rechargeable via usb and you need to use hdmi to get a signal to the projector.
