As someone who followed it during its run, I can confirm that this show does stuff to your mind. Like if you watch it linearly you just internalize the fact that Mort is a 50+ year old soul sucking hybrid immortal as something logical and forget that it's utterly bizzare until you see someone who hasn't watched it react to his Madagascar page.

I truly do believe that the writers initially decided to include weird stuff (specifically everything Mort-related) as a joke, but that the joke quickly got out-of-hand and they couldn't stop the madness

They dont try hiding the political messages either. This is really bizarre because its definitely not for adults, probably not an addenda exactly, but has too many things that contradict it being for children. What is this? Why did the writers write the way they did?
You know, i do wonder if seeing exactly who wrote which episodes might help with theorizing now that i think about it... could be just one guy who wants to talk politics in the show and he just does it, and then maybe a team of three or four that are hyper-focused on the mort lore, with the rest of the crew just making a children's show.

According to a quick google search, the elephant has the longest gestation of any mamal, at around 23 months. The longest egg incubation is for the octopus, which maxes out at around 4.5 years (the longest known egg incubation was 53 months). For Mort to be born "five years premature" (as stated in part 2), his mother would have to be an octopus, and he would have to be rounding up.

Technically there could be a way Mort can be his grandfather without time travel. If a child of his married a parent of his. It would cause a weird label issue with his family tree, though he could describe himself as his own grandfather,
Of course just search up the song “I’m my own Grandpa” and it would explain everything.

Person A and B (grandparents) give birth to Person C (in this case we’ll say Mort). Then Person C marries D (Mort’s partner) who gives birth to E (Mort’s child).
Person D eventually dies, but Person A also dies. Then Person E (Mort’s child) somehow marries Person B (Mort’s parent), making Person C (Mort) the grandfather, the father, and son.
Or Mort reproduces via mitosis and just splits apart technically making him his own grandfather

Maybe the coffee forces Mort's personalities to temporarily merge into one to make Smart Mort? It would explain why he doesn't differentiate Smart Mort from himself, why it hurts him to be like that, AND why he becomes so much more powerful.

@@Jellied_Slime_Games Random theory: Smart Mort is the real Mort, the reason he is so crazy normally is because all his alternate personalities are clashing and he can't suppress all of them, coffee helps his brain become more active which helps him overpower all the other personalities and take control again.
I just remembered that Mort has grandkids. In one episode he says something, (I’ve forgotten unfortunately) and Clover says, “You have Grandkids Mort?” Which Mort begins to panic as replies with, “What? Did they escape?!” And he shoots a web out and clings to it before screaming, “Don’t let them get me!”

I honestly thought it was a glitch when I saw 35 MINUTES
I remember watching the Madagascar movies when I was younger and finding Mort to be extensively off and never understanding why. The foot obsession and worship and the weirdly provocative mannerisms he had popped out, but that seemed like he was just slightly mentally disturbed and left it at that, but it never explained anything.
And now I'm watching this analysis of a series I've never heard of or thought would exist and everything is a lot weirder and somehow almost makes sense.
I'm not sure how to feel about this.
I'll wait for this theory meteorite to fully hit me in the face, and then I'm gonna watch that fucking show knowing everything about the monstrosity that is Mort and be disturbed more than I should be capable of feeling.
This is going to be absolute madness.

When you mentioned Dissociative Identity Disorder I thought of something. You theorized that the persona that wears the blond wig is his grandmother and there was a scene where he went to home school prom with his grandmother and was caught making out with her... now this might be a darker turn than you'd like to take but what if Mort developed DID from sexual abuse and neglect from his grandmother. She seems to be one of the focal points that help you explain a lot of what's wrong with Mort and it would explain why a lot of his alters are so over sexualized. This would also explain why he seeks love from the feet in such an obsessive way. If he was neglected and abused when he was younger he could have developed DID as well as cause him to suppress memories and parts of his personality. On top of that, if he was neglected as a baby then it could also explain his extreme violence and again the DID and extreme need for love (Julien's feet). I'm a psych major and this is not the best explanation I could give seeing as this is a UA-cam comment section but just something to think about :)
