    I have looked for vocal exercises online for last 2 weeks, eastern and western, basic and advanced, to improve to train my vocal cords, larynx and all other singing organs we use. Amongst several good videos I found this makes most sense to me for training of larynx.
    I am very very grateful to you for this and other videos by YOU. May GOD bless YOU sir.

    Thank you so very much, my friend, for sharing this wonderful resource! After informing me our sessions would not be continuing--"I've taught you everything I know :-)"--my voice teacher very kindly recorded an 18-minute set of the four exercises we'd always warmed up with for the past two years. They were very similar to yours and were invaluable to me in the years since! I have misplaced every cd copy I'd made (some 4 or 5!) and haven't ''practiced' in ages, as a result. These are wonderful, but Wonderful(!) and I thank you again, ever so much!! God bless you and yours, my friend! ~ Greg Rangel :)

    How long should a man do these or any vocal warmups per day? After warmups should a person go directly to singing songs? Is there more to vocal lessons than warmups? I never could afford any real one to one lessons. I took a few classes at the 2 year college..thats all. And, how long should a person sing songs per day? I tend to get sore after 1-2 hours, not severely, just enough as a warning sign. A few years ago I was singing 4 hours a day, and had to stop for a year! The problem is most singing and playing gigs are about 4 hours. I used to play gigs but only played guitar, no singing. I only had 2 singing and playing paid gigs so far.. so, what to do here, any solid answers? If so, thanks!

    • @davidwoods7996
      @davidwoods7996 7 років тому +2

      Warmups are usually one quarter to a half of a lesson. The rest is usually working on songs. You should do these before singing, it will help prevent injury and you'll have a better sound and range. How much you practice each day is up to you, but if you get sore you should stop, much of the time it means something is wrong or you're just tired.

    • @michaelcraig9449
      @michaelcraig9449 7 років тому

      How does one get past being able to sing for an hour or 2, and get to being able to sing for a full gig, like 4 hours or so? What specific things can be done? Can you post up how to do that? Thanks.

    • @windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823
      @windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 6 років тому

      @@davidwoods7996 Yup. No screwing around!
      You're the PITA of the band with good reason. You can't sing if you're tired, sick or you have a cold. Or you just ate.
      Under no circumstances should you smoke, drink or play games with ANY drugs, even or especially pot. You'll go flat and waste your time and your band's time. Makes your throat all dry and harsh.
      I did Kevin Richards or anyone designed for rock music is good. I did warm ups and cool downs, which are scales again and singing very softly. Rock is demanding, more than some other styles.

      I mean if you could sing well I'm not sure you'd be here in the first place. Vocal exercises are supposed to warm up and improve your singing voice. Some people when they sing, they sing the wrong notes. It's kind of like tuning a guitar and playing the right notes only this time you're doing it with your voice.

    • @DylanLopez-INNO
      @DylanLopez-INNO 10 років тому +2

      Hey Thomas, I figure I'll answer both of your questions because I enjoy sharing what I've found works for me. A huge part of singing is about training your muscles to memorize the movements to hit notes. I'd do them daily as long as you aren't practicing way too long or too hard. Frequency is great, force is bad. If you are ever sore, rest your throat. Otherwise you make it hoarse and ruin the following practice. (You can also develop those nodules you asked about.) In my practice I warm up before _every_ time I sing and would use an exercise similar to this 4+ times a week.

    Should I do the exercises with that much space between each exercise as u do it in the video so everyday it doesn't need to take longer than like 20 minutes 30 seconds and I will improve? Or should I rest a minute between each exercise? I guess it makes sense to go the speed exactly how it is in the video if I'm not singing too loud. So don't do the exercises louder than 45 decibels or 22.5 or 11.75? Not that I have a decibel indicator machine thingy lol. Would it help to get one?

      try the related video by reinhardcollege but sing it in your voice, (one octave below hers) if needed. she gives very helpful tips mate. but honestly youtube videos are far misleading than actual vocal lessons in person. a vocal coach can show you where to focus. and help rather than guessing based on videos.

  • @sharknadofartquake2449
    @sharknadofartquake2449 3 роки тому +3

    :P! I enjoy these exercises and enjoy how at first I just did them with spaces(for breathing right and derp? lol)in between each thing like he does but now I connect so my lung capacity is more(maybe lol). I mean like with the yaya's and blabla's I do 6 at forte sound(lol or double or triple forte because maybe/probably I'm somewhat deaf)volume before I run out of breath and I don't have to zoom fast thru them. I can do the same speed as he does in the video without running out of air. Just kidding maybe if I'd started when I was 5 vocal training like around the same age MJ did I would and but instead it was long after that so I kind of do have to zoom somewhat. I mean like after I've done the ZIUIUIUIUI 8 of them in 1 breath and even tho I start at the same time on the C in bass clef as the man in the video I don't start back up with doing the last 4 ZIUIUIUIUI'S until he's at the one that starts on the E in bass clef and when I'm done with the 8 I hear him at more like 5 or 6 so obviously I kind of zoom like zoom-ish or I'll run out of breath before doing 8 and I want to do 8 so that I have air to go past and go higher than the C an octave above the starting C when I start singing the last 4. If I don't sing too loud(LOL IF)I'll get to the F above the C above the sharting(LOL MY BAD I MEAN STARTING)C in bass clef. Easily I'll sing too loud and have to stop at the high E above the ending C an octave above the starting C in bass clef meaning obviously I won't sing more than 6 in 1 breath doing the last ZIUIUIUIUI'S.. LOL if I were you I would look into trying to SUE ME for typing too much of a comment!!!!! :P

    I did this but I go down an octave so I end of the low C but I don't know if I should go that far since it's not as loud as I can do it an octave above. Is that wrong? Would that be considered vocal fry? Is vocal fry considered going so low that a person can't do vibrato on the note or it's based on decibels so if a person can't "sing" a note louder than 5 or 10 decibels that's the start of vocal fry for that person?

    • @drewroddy
      @drewroddy 10 років тому +1

      i'm not a vocal cord expert, but vocal fry is based more on where your sound is coming from rather than how low it is. if you feel physical discomfort when singing, then you should stop...however, if it's only about not being as loud as the note an octave above then keep going!

    • @Dyingundermybed
      @Dyingundermybed 10 років тому

      Frying your voice is slowly disconnecting it.
      these exercises are for Baritones and Tenors. You should try talking the vowels first then try talking it again but "talking with tone"
      relax your jaw, back straight so that when you breathe at the beginning you dont move your shoulders up at all, feel the air expand in your ribs and exhale through the whole scale. for breath support , i know this sounds silly but you should feel a little pressure on your butt or clench them. kinda like the position as youre about to get up from sitting down.ALSO feel your abdomen flex just a little to keep support on vowels and breath. you shouldnt be trying sing loud on exercises. KEEP IT SOFT AND CONNECTED AND THE MORE SUPPORT YOU HAVE ON YOUR DIAPHRAGM THEN THE MORE RESONANCE WILL COME OUT MAKING IT SOUND LOUDER BUT IT WONT FEEL LIKE YOURE FORCING IT.
      you should be totally relaxed when singing and if you want to fry (not reccomended but it adds "style" to artists voices) sing softer and between some vowels it will disconnect sounding like the stupid movie "the grudge" vwhen the monster does that noise. but only fry shortly on some vowels in WORDS not vowel sounds for exercises.
      remember, "singing is talking with tone and pitch" basically dont mimic someones voice for so long just use your regular talking voice. dont think about breathing because you dont think about that when youre having a normal conversation, it just comes naturally just like it does while singing. KEEP UP THE SINGING AND DONT GIVE UP! :) just be careful with your voice.

      Bastian Riffo Repeat what the man has demonstrated I believe. The pronunciations are still on the screen so even without him singing you should still be able to remember how to do it.

    Is it useful to practice this even if I can't tell when I'm singing off key? :P

    • @funghi5566
      @funghi5566 10 років тому +5

      I would say yes. But, you must not just do the exercise and say "OK I'm done, I practice every day!" You should practice and make an effort to improve your ear and try to start getting notice when you are singing off key. I think that if you really pay attention to what are you singing and what the sound is, eventually you will tell. If you practice often and try hard to be better, you will.

      try doing these exercises with your lips shaped as an "O" especially when you do long E vowel sounds like "ZI-----I." when you do the "U---" your lips should still be in the O shape. that may help keep you in key.

    • @AnshFloStarMusicPage
      @AnshFloStarMusicPage 10 років тому

      Yes, the more you practise and listen back to yourself; the better your ear will become at hearing the right or wrong key

      Anshul Flo Yeah thats true, but talent is also big part in this. I m singing for 4 years (but only 2-3x per week) and my "ears" improved slightly. Honestly i m really envious of those who have perfect pitch from birth :D

      Jakub Kahoun You shouldn't be, I wasn't born with perfect pitch and after five years of hard work I have what they call almost perfect pitch. It's pretty much the same just I wasn't born with it

    Please, does anyone know what to do to get rid of vocal nodules and mucus? it`s extremely important for me.Thanks in advance.

    • @DylanLopez-INNO
      @DylanLopez-INNO 10 років тому

      Vocal nodules is actual damage to your chords. I'd see a specialist to have them looked at (ear & throat doctor) and avoid singing until they are healed. They are caused often by strain/technique-issue. Mucus I deal with often, try to address the cause (smoking, food choices, allergies, etc.). To clear it out lemon/ginger tea and in bad cases a NeilMed sinus cleaner helps.

      Dylan Lopez Thanks for nodule info I don't strain anymore and notice I can still sing high F# at end of Sorge Infausta una procella not with vibrato(yet hopefully)like Ildebrando does but when I strained I couldn't vibrato then either.
