I don't know about every passing second, but I think most of us are reborn whenever we see a video of yours. And the turtle boy's. Marvelous work. Keep making them.
I was literally talking about this the other day. Whilst watching Wanda Vision, this topic was briefly talked about in the finale and it's a really interesting topic that has been on the back of my mind for quite a while, the question of identity and originality. And I think Heraclitus had a pretty nice insight, *"you cannot step into the same river twice"* which is an analogy for his belief that everything is constantly changing. This idea, that the water and life within a river are always changing, even if the river looks the same, can be applied to life, the universe and everything in it. People are never the same, changing in some way from our day-to-day experiences, moment to moment, our cells the building blocks of life, are born and die every second. Objects, the very atoms that make them are in a continuous state of change and decay. The universe, in all its glory and chaos, is ever-changing. So it really comes down to what we define as "the same" or "original" or maybe it's just a term we use loosely, like the infamous, "a *heap* of sand".
Indeed, process philosophy is some really out-there and interesting stuff. The previous video on the channel covers just that if you want to watch more!
We think too binary about being. Something is a thing to a certain _degree_ . The reconstructed engineer was both people, to the degree she had stayed intact in the process. A small change would simply mean she was a little not her old self. The real question is, by which trait should we measure similarity? I think this is a personal decision. The answer makes no difference empirically. Science probably just says "atomic composition" and "physical causality". Which means she was mostly the same, but would with time approach total difference (in the same way 1/x approaches 0). I'm not sure about composition, but as for causality, the different sequence of events sets her on a causal path which continues to diverge from the other. (I think this has something to do with Copenhagen vs. Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, but my brain is fried at this point.)
It's an extremely fun thing to do! It's all well and good straight up teaching the thought experiments in a video, although sometimes it's fun just to have a little adventure with it as well.
I like the explanation in "Heaven's River" by Dennis Taylor. When you have a duplication, the one that comes out first, regardless of the distance gets the original personality. This could be the original or the copy. The second one may have the knowledge, but experiences a certain amount of personality drift and is not the same person.
I don't understand why is it so hard to answer the question from the ship do theseus thought experiment. Our atoms and cell are renewed on a daily basis; if I'm not mistaken, every 20 year all atoms, evenincluding the ones that make up our bones, are replaced with new ones. But we still consider ourselves as the same person. Moreover, after twenty years, people's personalities also change very significantly. Because of that, it's obvious that it is the same ship as long as we want it to be the same one.

No different than other versions of EACH of us -which likely exist- each time we observe and choose a path- for example to stay in bed and play hookie from work (thereby avoiding a fatal car collision), or even to eat a banana bran muffin instead of a blueberry one- each decision brings a branching off of reality and the ENTIRE universe is recreated in perfect mimetic detail, save for that one momentary varied choice (whereby you ate the banana muffin, and in the ‘original’ universe you ate the blueberry one)…Happening so many times each second, not only here on our planet when each and EVERY creature makes a decision, but also in every system in the universe in which others similarly make observations and decisions-which in turn collapses the probability wave into “reality”. Each of those versions of every one of us and of the versions of others out there (other creatures all throughout the multiverse) all are a multitude of cells, and cognition we refer to a a person. We are not only not alone, we aren’t even ourselves. We are likely all one universal consciousness willingly participating in an arena of separate “lives”, whereby it (we) talk to ourselves. It’s all a huge simulacra.
Is there anything about particles that spontaneously appear being objects or particles from a 4th dimension passing through our 3rd? Or is this just a dumb Idea I had washing dishes?
Time is a dimension. Through time, everything moves. Everything, from the sub atomic level to us to the galaxies and super clusters. It all moves according to relativity, controlled by the fundamental laws the glue the quantum level to the surface level with physical matter to the unified fields along with the things and potential things (that we have yet to know of) together in one harmony, aka the Universe
