Yo this video is awesome! The thumbnail had me fooled for the first few seconds and I swear I thought that SP EMD was real! Very impressive 3D art, great work. Also, nice P3 horn. Or is it an M3?
Being computer-illiterate, I've never seen one of these sims before, but I loved it! Very romantic and nostalgic, and eerily lifelike. I come from a country where 52 years ago a Minister of Transport of questionable integrity did his best to close down our railway system. Fortunately some of the cuts are now being reversed, but at great expense.
What faked me out is that I have been on rare mileage trips on old railroads almost this bad and into locations like this so the whole thing seemed so real! Nicely done!
Seeing there is a lack of a story here's one I made myself; There was a small group of rail enthusiasts that was walking down an abandoned siding they discovered, while walking they came across an abandoned train. They knew the batteries were dead but they checked the diesel, and they were slightly surprised to see there was still a bit in there, so they left and came back the next day with batteries, six deep cycles to be specific, they then hooked them up to attempt to start the engine, the starter engaged, the engine made a small, unseizing squeak as the RPM's increased and the engine roared back to life. Then being the rail fans that they were, they decided to try to take it for a drive, they didn't take it off the abandoned tracks but went across an old crossing then around a small bend before stopping, they then had a thought of going to southern pacific and asking how much for the engine...
T H it was 3 in the morning and i only gave 30 seconds of thought to it, don't expect perfection, just say it was slenderman's cousin or something dumb like that
Most abandoned railroad ways were put back to use in south Texas and also BNSF & UP built new ones as well due to the oil boom on the Eagle ford shale area. Texas oil boom & rail road people help keep our gas prices down at the pumps. Now more money for the consumers holiday shopping. BNSF & UP are a big part for economy and especially for our gas prices in transporting oil across America. Thank for sharing this video.
This is by far the best abandoned route i have ever seen. I am thinking about making my own abandoned railroad now after watching this video! Keep up the great work!
Wow. A ghost train. The bed did not look stable. The switcher look as abandoned as the track, except for the cab interior! It looked practically new. Very neat video
Brilliant work +GUSTAVTIME !!!! That horn on the Geep reminds me of ones equipped on Mass Costal Railroad 2007, an ex- ATSF chopped nose GP9 now used for hauling the Mass Coastal Energy Train, better known as "The Trash Train".
That was ... ... interesting. Brought back memories of doing transfers to the Rock Island, at least the rocking of engine and cars and pulling at no more than idle speeds. At least this track was above ground, and the rails were not raising a foot above ground 20 feet in front of the engine as you moved.
What really tipped me off and gave the whole thing away, was the remains of an old open-wire telephone line running alongside the road. It simply did not look real.
HAHAHA at first i thought this was real then I noticed it was TS.I love how ya got the dips and bobs in the rail done to make it seem like its an old dilapidated track.I have a bear of a time building routes myself but I love putting in the detail work..Good job my friend.Do you have any intentions of sharing your yard?
I thought when was last time we saw a Black Widow former SP with all her lights? That flickering on the numberboard hmmmm??? Curious that the loco has no railroad inscription.... only former Southern Pacific faded lettering. What, 2 cameras? One on the shade side then flopping over to sunny side. Then from the door forward, but but ALLAS! (and only then I realized) it's 3D animation!!!!! Holy smoke (sorry CA, OR & WA you're going thru nichtmare with all those fires [trully REGRET it]) Great 3D video!! Saludos = cheers
They say that real actor's days are numbered in film production. This technology will be so good in 10 to 20 years that virtual actors will be created from software. Imagine a brand new black and white mobster film starring Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart with virtual acting so convincing by software generated "actors" that you actually believe you're watching the "real" Humphrey Bogart and Edward G. Robinson.
To be honest, it had me fooled in the beginning although the flickering headlights were a head scratcher. But in the cab, how about the throttle moving itself and also when the cars were passing on the crossing, I noticed that the air brake hoses weren't hooked up. I only saw a disconnected hose on one car and none on the others. Good simulation, but needs work.
First my compliments on the route. I'm thinking that you're using either using TANE or TRAINZ 2012. If I'm wrong please let let me know. Building the CSX Florence Division from Florence SC to Jacksonville Florida (yes I know it will also cover the Jacksonville Division) I know exactly how long it takes. Your video is very impressive.
I've always enjoyed the train sim/rails simulator/works series from all the way back to Microsoft train simulator, but the one thing that has never changed is the unrealistic smoke and sound, the sound being the most important of the two. I'm still waiting for someone to figure it out.
Suspect this is not an operating railway, but is closed. Power unit looks in a state that is used just for "recovery" work, and the dilapidated rolling stock is being recovered from a closed line.
Please, folks - it isn't abandoned if a revue run is on the line! It certainly isn't well maintained, but that is an in-service train. Truth in labeling, please.
First, my typo: that's a "revenue" run, not "revue." Second, I believe someone commented that the track is indeed out of service and that the train was photoshopped in. And I fell for it....
The rust and paint patch details are incredible compared to the last version of MSTS I saw which was about 10 years ago lol. Did you create the line and scenery or is this a route that came with it?
I can't stand most computer effects CGI in movies and what it has done to sci-fi movies..yukkk.......... .but this is amazing and the detail is awesome.................... and I LOVE that spooky looking old high hood Diesel locomotive.....really well done.must have taken a long time....love abandoned railroads........many where I live .............sad so many have the tracks removed now................I spent hours using satellite map to see where the old rail lines went....so interesting....
Interesting! I wondered from the very beginning. Then the first I saw of the train I thought this is not real real. Is it a mix between the real nature and a simulated train or a real train with "toy" digital filter. Then second time I saw the trees and grass are (too) perfectly still so possibly I was deceived by the bird song. That means maybe if you had more realistic sounds from the train you could have been lured for longer. You lack increasing sounds from screeching wheels and metal clonks and the motor, the rpm was too constant and the strength too. Especially when the train started again, the rpm should have been ever so little raised. The rails and even sleepers make noise too. Nice anyhow!

I LOVE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THESE VIDEOS, ESPECIALLY WITH STEAM TRAINS!!
I thought it was real until the train got real close and the grass wasn't bending.
That and the birds are on loop

This video is really awesome. Very rare to see such rare railroads.
Hey Gustav, Let's make a Request: Train Derails at Abandoned Railroad.
Very realistic game. But the trees and grasses don't move with the wind. Nice bird sounds too.

+David Budka Don't those things shit all over you?
A ghost train, that doesn't disturb the vegetation...I like the idea...
I though this was an actual video of a train until I hit full screen. Well done!
Wait a minute - if there's a train rolling on the track, it can't be an ABANDONED railroad, can it?
Man was that exciting! Just imagine a fake train going by. Wow!
Talk about an unkept railroad with a vegetation problem, they that sorry they can't keep the grass cut beside those rails?
Love the rusty SP GP9!
