  • Well it is finally opening day of walleye season here in northern Wisconsin and we are out at sunrise chasing walleyes on shallow sand flats with a super light jig and a minnow! In this video I talk about the rod and reel setup I like for fishing super finesse up shallow. I also talk about how to properly jig for walleyes and how to find them when they are up on these large shallow flats! Spring walleye fishing is a ton of fun and I hope this video helps you put more fish in the boat this spring! Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

    Awesome video! You always have great current info on what stage the fish are in in the area and what tactics are working to catch them. Your channel was definitely one of the inspirations for me to start my own channel! Keep pushing out that awesome content!

      Cody Phillips hook minnow in through the mouth and out the top of the head using a google eye jig ( long shank) generally in gold color.

    In Canada, if you fish the windy side of a point, you tend to catch more fish. Do you find it the same when you go fishing? The premise is that the wind clusters the bait and, where the bait are, the predators are.

    You ever try cut bait fillet strips, like a strip of shad or larger minnow on a jig? Wonder if it would work.

    Tom, when you spool braid on your spinning reels, do you put backing on?

    • @johnkopplin6622
      @johnkopplin6622 4 роки тому +3

      Derrick Eischens if you’re spool has a rubber sleeve no need. If it has a metal spool 🧵 back it with mono otherwise it will slide on you. No need to go nuts on the mono just need enough to cover the spool. Have a great fishing year - eyeguy
