I like Vincenzo's Italian references. The hobby needed an advocate like this. Intelligent and fun. Some of the reviewers are on the monotone dud side. Not Vinny.
I own one Leonardo pen and it was my first one as an adult since I returned to fountain pen usage after a long hiatus. It is the Mosaiico Hawaii with a broad 14K gold nib. I adore this pen, it has very high quality, chatoyance that is so beautiful and every time I write with it my mind goes to Greco-Roman mosaics, a subject I am devoted to. With it I write notes on the ancient theatre on which I'm doing research and constantly draw.
That is a La Fenice nib. I have also noticed differences in the construction of the Leonardo pens. I have one pen with that clear piston stopper, and although it may be just as good as the black rubber one, I have to wonder about the long term durability of it. I've also noticed differences in the resin thickness. It's puzzling. My most recent Leonardo is a Goldspot Exclusive and the resin and build quality is everything you could want. I have another one that gave me qualms about ever buying another Leonardo. But Leonardo is doing great things with their collaboration with the resin makers, to bring us new and exciting looking pens, so I know I'll keep finding those pens I can't resist. 😊 As always, a beautiful review. That AquaPetra is GORGEOUS.
Vicenzo, going off-topic for a minute, I was so happy to hear and see you mentioned on Hemingway Jones’ live videocast the other day! You’re two of my three favorite UA-cam pen guys (of the many pen reviewers I watch). But you both bring something very unique to the table, and really appreciate that you do. Paul & Karmen
Hello! Great show! As for Leonardo, as a Leonardo fan - I own many of them, both old (with bock nibs) and more recent ones -, I was very intrigued by your first comment some weeks ago about Leonardo resin being thinner now. I therefore very carefully compared all my Leonardos. I haven't found any difference in the resin's quality. But that doesn't mean your are wrong… I'm gonna be very careful when purchasing a new Leonardo. Thank you very much for your comment (& your show). BTW, after many years with Leonardos, the Leonardo I prefer is… the Supernova, because of its weight and girth. It took me many months (even years) to decide upon that. Cheers.
Vincenzo, I have watched a few of your videos and enjoyed them all. I found you through a comment on one of Hemingway Jones’s videos, and glad I did. You have a new subscriber. Great job! Vicente
Beautiful pen - I'm jumping on it. Ischia has been a favorite for the last 6 years. We spend a bit more than a week on Maronti beach in a boutique hotel every year, enjoying the sea and the warm sand. It has become a ritual to conclude the year at the end of summer. However, I'm not sure what their marketing blurb about "the dunes of the sandy beaches of the island of beauty" is about - That definitely does NOT describe the Ischia beaches.
Couldn't agree more! My grandmother was born there and I too visit it often. it is just a short boat ride away from my birthplace, Sorrento. I also enjoyed the thermal spas on the island. My kids loved it.
Thank you for your review. I do not own this pen. I do have the Momento Zero Grande and a Furore. The price is very good. I will explore it further. For Leonardo pens I but them from Stilo e Stile.
I received a Magico Pietra Salata a few days ago. Beautiful to look at and to write with. I also got Broad, which in the end I felt was too wide for the pen, so I switched on a Medium and for me it's perfect. My hand size favours the Zero Grande so I will look for more of them also
Nice review, thank you. I noticed the grip section flares at the nib, only similar to the LMZG as opposed to all the others. I wonder why they made that decision. Do you prefer one grip section style over the other?
Ciao Vincenzo, thanks for the video and the honesty about the very thin material of this pen. Based on the retail prices which are varying a lot I will stay away from it. The nib is impressive but nearly 200 Euros/Dollars for a quite cheap made FP (from the perspective of the thin materials used, not the colorful design) is an exaggeration in my book. Pay attention in your kitchen! This cut looks pretty deep, so bless you.
I'm almost sure that LMZ has the same 25 grams as Momento Magico. So I think it could be a false impression of it being a thinner resin. Maybe because the edge of the cap is thinner?
My Furore is 27.78 gm, my Momento Zero Prugna is 28.61 and the Magico a piston filler which is longer than the MZ is 27.09, my Supernova is 30.38 gm. The feeling is also unlike any other Leonard I own.
Leonardo look beautiful however their pistol systems are problematic and their customer service is pathetic! I recommend buying Japanese pens, they don’t break down and have superior nibs and simpler filling systems. To me a problem free experience is more than a nice looking pen like the Leonardo.

Grazie!

Enjoy, its what I call fountain pen therapy.
Beautiful pen! Thank you very much for the review!
It is definitely a pen to consider for the next purchase
Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for your comments. I hope that the thin resin on this pen is the exception.

Thank you. Its comments like yours that ultimately "keep the lights on".

Like I said I hope its not a trend. So far no reason to believe that it is. It may just be this model.
Bless your roots Vincenzo
Indeed. Thanks

Welcome aboard!

I definitely prefer the flare design. Thanks for sharing

Have you seen the pen in person? It's shockingly thin looking and feeling. I wanted this pen until I actually saw one.

The color isn't as vibrant and the marbling is somewhat flat. Review is great as usual.
Yes the depth is probably what is lacking here. Maybe its because I have been spoiled by the old stock delta pens, and even the new Gioas and Mairoas.
For the sake of accuracy, all my Leonardos come from StiloeStile.
Good store:
a go to store for me.

I was getting fed up with Leonardo because of those Yobo nibs. But I never experienced any problem with their pistons. Thanks for the info.
