10 Greatest Goal Kickers Of All Time (NRL)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 лип 2024
- In the last decade, one in three NRL matches have been decided by 6 points or less. This just goes to show how important goal kicking is in rugby league as it’s one of the most overlooked skills in the sport.
It has developed a lot over time from kicking off the sand to evolving to the kicking tee and the technique ranging from toe poking to the current side on routine. Having a great goal kicker on your team can be the difference between winning and losing in some very important matches. But how do we know what makes makes a great goal kicker? Is it the amount of goals they successfully kicked? Is it their goal kicking percentage? In fact a balanced ratio between these two aspects as well how they performed in clutch situations were assessed in constructing this list, and the person that fulfils these criteria points the best, is our GOAT of goal kicking.
For this list, we will only be considering the amount of goals kicked and their kicking percentages from club games only as some of these players never played all levels of representative football and therefore creating an even assessment.

Thurston was trained by El Masri who was taught by Daryl Halligan. Bulldogs had special prodigies back then
James Maloney has to be one of the most underrated players of all time. This man took 3 teams to the grand final, came into the state of origin series and propels them to win the series.
I've been saying the same thing. This guy is so underrated.
As a sharks fan I agree 100%
He is a winner, him and ennis were our best ever signings
He's one of the best 5/8 of all time. Id say around 6 or 7
I think anyone who actually loves footy agrees with that
Those teams are... Warriors in 2011, Roosters in 2013 and Sharks in 2016
Hazel el magic is 🐐 goal kicker
My favourite team doggies and my NRL hero of all time.
Matthew Ridge should have made this list! He was good enough to be in the top 3! He kicked the majority of his career with sand too! It's a joke that he wasn't included in this video. He kicked 580 goals from 723 attempts (80%)
N leather ball a lot different to modern day ball
The guy who runs this channel HATES manly,so why would he add Ridge?
Too short a career. Consider that he has kicked roughly half or less than all of these guys kind of sums it up.
@@bartonez123 While his career was shorter than others, he certainly had the hallmarks of matching and probably beating many of today's athletes if he was afforded the todays technology and opportunity!
Totally agree, Ridge set the gold standard when he switched codes and from out of seemingly nowhere he turned goal kicking on its head and he won many games for manly
When the dogs scored at the death of that Newcastle game there is a shot of Andrew Johns swearing his head off knowing El Magic would finish the Knights off...maybe not the highest percentages but the best under pressure for mine
Love this channel !
Also love seeing the Bulldogs in “Greatest ever “ lists
Yea
Im a Storm fan, but I wouldnt even put Cameron Smith in this list. Say if there was a tie, kick it to win it from the sideline, nah this guy would miss. Thats just me
I love your content tho my bro!!! Keep em coming 🔥🔥💯
What about Luke Covell, similar kick percentage, both left footed but no one really remembers Covell, or Michael De Vere lol
I agree with u half of his shots r flukes 😂
El Magic only started later in his career so goals per game is misleading.
He started later, because Halligan was still playing for them. 2 of the greatest, both at the Dogs at the same time
@@fordmangtho351 Personal favourites matter not. They're all second to Mick Cronin!
@@navarrenavarre He was at Parra _because_ he was better than those two. ✌😎
I was gonna say, if he wasn't named the greatest, then you mustn't have heard of him. Miss watching him play. What talent. Definitely THE Goat.

Fun fact hazem el Masri wasn’t the goal kicker for the first 5 years of his Professional career.
As his debut was in 1996 and daryl halligan who was the dogs goal kicker didn’t retire till round 26 2000 against the newcastle nights
What a memory! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻Canterbury-Bankstown had the greatest goal kickers, ever!
There was nothing like seeing Mick Cronin kick a goal back in the day. Perfect form...and that Pig skin ball when wet weighed a ton.
Best player of all time! Stats don't lie.
This list must be ass about because the best player & kicker in the game with the highest averages in practically every area in the history of the game is Mick Cronin.
He only played first grade for 9 years because he had a pub to run - at least he had his priorities correct.
He is the highest point scorer in 5 of his 9 seasons played - highest points scorer at club level and as a Kangaroo in NSWRL history - highest points scorer ever for Parramatta - highest points scorer in a Group 7 season - highest point scorer for a calendar year - he's the only player in world history to average over 9+ points per game - he also has the highest average goals/points per game/career in both NSWRL & NRL combined - and, he owns the most consecutive goals in NSWRL history with 26. There are only one or two players to even get anywhere near his records, I think Halligan is one and Hassam's the other.
He has every total point scoring record in NSWRL of all time, except tries outright, and most other historic highest career average records. If he would have played for as many years as Cameron Smith, he'd have scored pro-rata a total of around 4000+ points. When he retired in 1986 he had the highest points total ever and the most points scored as a Kangaroo. He also had the most Test test points worldwide, the most points in a test season, the most in a test, and the same world records for World Cup league. Without averages, he's the 8th highest points scorer ever - however, everyone who scored more also played many, many more games. He shit on everyone in this list, and the history of the game.
He's the first player to receive back to back Rothmans medals, he has an Australian Sports medal, a Centenary medal and the Order of Australia medal.
Wally who?? My guy is the true king of rugby league!! ✌😎
Great list. Do you see Adam Reynolds taking top spot if his stats keep up for the remainder of his career? For now, he's still behind Halligan, Thurston and El Mazri for me.
I Love THIS ❤
I 100% agree with this list, it follows everything I pictured in GOATS of NRL kickers. Thank you, now I can show my friends this video and tell em, " in your face" not Thurston, it's Hazem El Mazri

El Magic is a goat ! 🔥🔥🔥
I'd love to sit and have a beer with the bloke who does these, but jeez we'd bore the crap out of the rest of the pub.
Suggestion: Top 10 players that played in State Of Origin but never played for Australia
I've actually met El Maseri around 4 years ago at a bulldogs membership open day where he was signing things like jerseys!
I would have put Darryl Halligan higher mainly cos of his age when he was playing and that he is now a highly sorted kicking coach..
Loved hazem and totally deserves number 1, but I was at that Newcastle game in 2002 and I was sitting at the northern end. Knights were up 19 nil at half time and lost 22-21. Was not much fun as a novacastrian :(
On what fantasy do you base that nonsense?
Your favorite does not the GOAT!
I don’t get how Reynolds has the best stats of any of them and still ends up 4th??
Yeah like best kicker? Definitely not Reynolds. But goal kicking? Reynolds is definitely at least higher than 4th
reynolds should be 2nd, only behind el masri
Souths have scored more tries under the posts then any other team, but yeah reynolds should be 2nd

I agree with this list.
I think El Masri wt one stage in a season was on a streak were he was kicking 25 from 25 and was going for the most goals in a row and I think, just missed.
Rhys Martin hitting 41/41 now 👍 one hall of a kicker he is now
Nathan Cleary slaughters them all with a percentage of 84.3% (549 goals)
Next best in the top 10:
Aidan Sezer 82.1% (179 goals)
Adam Reynolds 82.0% (991 goals)
Hazim El Mazri 82.0% (891 goals)
Luke Walsh 81.5% (154 goals)
James Maloney 81.1% (772 goals)
Michael Gordon 81.1% (681 goals)
Michael Witt 80.9% (258 goals)
Jarrod Croker 80.5% (909 goals)
Matthew Ridge 80.2% (580 goals)
Two words...Matthew Ridge! Manly forever 😎
El Masri is also the only rugby league player to score a 100m penalty goal with a football filled with helium xD
El Misery, shit winger who kicked good
Mitch moses cant kick from 2 meters away
But if u think of it I don’t think too many people can kick from 2 metres
Yes
I remember Michael Hagan complaining, saying Hazem shouldn’t have been allowed to take the kick after the final siren
There is no way that you can compare past goal kickers to the current modern day as in the older days they used 1. Leather balls ( not synthetic which are lighter) 2. They didn't use kicking tees and 3. They used Leather and heavier boots.
Sean O'Loughlin and Ben Westwood have played more club games than Cameron Smith
And Sean O Loughlin and Ben Westwood where not big Grubs of the game like Cameron Smith

Hazem el Magic.
I can tell you hasem was on tv kicking blind folded & still got it he never missed , there was a player to match his nber of goal kicking that refused to break his record out of respect to hasem elmaseri that player from memerory is cameron smith from melbourne storm .
I reckon Nathan Cleary will soon be on that list
Back when nrl was worth watching.
Nothing against Mick Cronin, but unsure why he made this list and not Matthew Ridge if you were going to include earlier era players. Ridge was a beacon among kickers that were still wildly booting toe-hack torpedoes either side of the uprights :)
Read your facts about Mick, and you'll then understand. Without a doubt, the GOAT with records in every area in every division, including internationally.
That's probably why, huh?
how do you kick 3.6 a match when a goal is one
good list but wheres piggy riddel
Adam Reynolds at 4 is a travesty, he should be number 2. He had to kick a lot more kicks out wide than Halligan and Thurston, and still slotted them at a comparable rate.
Matthew Ridge is the reason why most of these kickers kick the way they do 🤷♂️…
Matthew Ridge is a mention i may add
This list must be ass about because *the best player & kicker in the game with the highest averages in practically every area in the history of the game is Mick Cronin.* Feel free to disagree, and think what you like. Everyone has their favorite but it won't change history and it doesn't change facts. This was also at a time when people had to work for a living in a full-time job to pay the bills. Imagine that, kicking everyone's ass while working full-time and having to take his helicopter to training and games because he lived 200ks from his club... All up, the game should be called National Mick Cronin Rugby League because he owns this game! Some people might be upset and others will be pissy, but it doesn't matter because facts are facts, and I'm a happy boy!! 🤣🤣

No way Thurston was better than Halligan - period. But where's Matthew Ridge??. He's the bloke that brought the current kicking style into prominence and was the best kicker in the game till Halligan came along. Ross Conlon was another great kicker - the first to stand the ball up in the era of toe pokers.
I would have had:
1. El Masri or Halligan
2. Halligan or El Masri
3. Ridge
4. the rest
You're on drugs.
I think Halligan should be at the top. Not just because he's a Kiwi😂 but he's the one designing the kicking tees that the majority of today's nrl players are using for goal kicking👀 Us Kiwis are the ones supplying international Rugby League and union players with kicking tees now, i swear😂 you got Supertee (Dan Carter and Darryl Halligan) and Rugby Bricks (Peter Breen)
You can think that, it doesn't change the _fact_ that Mick Cronin is the greatest of all time. He has the highest averages in every area, including total point scorers.

How can Adam Reynolds have the highest kicking percentage and be so low on the list? He is known for kicking most of his goals from the sideline or from difficult positions or at range. It's not as if the Bunnies score most of the tries next to the posts like the Roosters or the Storm. In saying that I do realise how good El Masri, Thurston and Halligan were though.
