Seriously, you have coached me deeply. Thanks alot for this. But I have a question. How do we separate the maggot from the waste? What technique can we use? Or we going to pick them one by one?
Glad to hear that dear Alade Segun😊😊. You can Harvest Maggot with 2 different methods 1) The floatation method where the manure or poultry waste is mixed with water and the larvae/ maggot float up making it easy to use as sieve to scoop it out. 2) The screening method is where the manure is spread in a thin layer on a sieve of about 2mm - 3mm mesh hole placed over a basin under the sun. The larva/maggot will try to escape the light by passing through the screen or sieve mesh and fall into the basin below. I hope this answers your question😊
Am really glad to see a African UA-camr doing something sustainable for fish farms.. Keep it up.. Change false image of Africa as a poor.. Media only shows slums and negativity
Well-done the FarmLady. I learnt a whole lot❤❤. will be trying it out this week. There is a poultry farm close to me. Who knew waste product from poultry could produce maggot. There is no end to learning. Thanks once again
I have an new idea about maggot using fruit fly by trapping in container with fruits slice or blender like a banana store it in cool place not under the direct sunlight and you will amaze fruitfly come inside the bottle and lay eggs to become larvae.
THIS IS AN AWESOMELY AWESOME VIDEO. VERY DETAILED AND SIMPLE TO COMPREHEND. GOD BLESS YOU SHIKEMI. YOU JUST GOT ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER TONIGHT. PROUD OF YOU MY DEAR SIS AND GOD BLESS YOU.....
I’m so glad I came across your video I breed mealworms and I’ve been looking for other avenues and we have copious amounts of what we call them blowflies in Australia so I will be getting started with a maggot farm thank you so very very much
I really enjoyed watching this and learnt a lot. I'll be trying it out soon. Thank you the FarmLady. Please is there another method of produce. Would appreciate another video of another method. Thanks so much for giving us value❤❤❤❤❤❤
Have you thought of using Black Soldier flies instead? BSF do not have mouths when they become adults, therefore they do not spread disease or annoy people. Their larvae (maggots) are fatter than flies too. It's just a thought.
Yes absolutely dear Friend. I have videos on BSF as well. This is just a demonstration video to show it's possible. Thanks so much for the constant support❤❤🙏
Yes you right, the only missing part in this video is the sterilization stage to kill pathogens before feeding to farm animals, otherwise it is an alternative to bsf.
Wow wow wow this young beautiful lady is awesome, see what she does why other ladies do rubbish everywhere I pray that you reach your goal and fulfill your dreams, and may God help us all the youths to know the right thing to do, many of my question had been ask by others earlier, and you've provided an appropriate answers to them, but I will like to be sure if there's no side negative effect of it, on animals, (infections) I've tried sometimes using earthworms on my farm once.
thank you for showing us how to do it the easy way, I have seen people using nets and stuff the attract the fly's making it all needlessly so complicated that it discourage me from the idea of breeding maggots for the chicken, I am gonna try your method, but I will use a plastic bucket, love the video.
Thank you so much as you have taken us through the procedures step by step but I still need to see how to harvest, process and given to the poultry and 🐟 fish. I appreciate
For the poultry, no need to harvest. Just spread the whole thing on the ground and let the chicken do the rest of the job. For the fish Also you can give as such or you can dry a little and then sew. But remember that she added more water than needed. It should only be moist.
I find it more effective to remove the maggot eggs and place them in a clean container with moist wheat bran mixed with one tablespoon of sugar. They grow faster and are cleaner. Mature and ready to harvest in 5-7 days. Harvest when they are starting to climb out of the container. I then soak them in billing hot water along with the wheat bran to kill them and disinfect them. This helps to separate them from the wheat bran as they float to the top and the bran sinks to the bottom. After that is is just a matter of feeding them directly to the chickens or stir-frying them in a dry frying pan like in gari preparation to dry them out for long storage. You can dry on the sun but you have to cover them with a net or every bird around would come and enjoy your hard work.
Hello Kuku the farmer that's absolutely smart. You'll then have to teach me your method. Hopefully I get it. If you don't mind here is my WhatsApp contact +2348106769062. God bless you

And trying to separate the maggot from the shit still remain time consuming and very tiring... Pls could you let me know if there is anyway to filter the maggots from the shit with minimal time and effort...
Excellent!. Pls how do we separate the magots from the poultry litter?. Can the fishes be fed with the fresh magots?. Thanks so such, may God continue to increase your knowledge amen.
Thank you for this video. I do hope I have prompt answers. 1. What is the effect of just feeding both the waste and the maggot at once instead of separating it? 2. thanks for the demo...very patient and good at explaining...i try this for my chickens but the hardest bit is harvesting or separating the maggots from the chaff.
Thanks very much for informative vid. I was planning on using rotting fish but after this vid, went to my poultry and the dumped chicken waste in bags stacked outside was full of lovely golden maggots. Tomorrow, we are going to harvest. Incredible find. Thanks lovely lady.
@@TheFarmLadyAquatics Good Morning, I have another question. After harvesting, we will wash with hot water. Then cold water and salt. At which point the maggots are dead. How long can the maggots be stored and used as fish feed? Does it spoil or go bad in that form?
Quite impressive. I look forward to other means of producing maggots. Thanks. Please, how can we disinfect the maggot before feeding our fish with it to avoid infections?

Readily getting BSF is the only problem. As dults when they multiply there's no risk of diseases
