Oh thank you for posting this, This song used to be burned into my psyche from years of fiddle playing as a teenager, but when I gave that up I lost so much. I'm learning mandolin now and enjoying it. You are a very clear and easy to understand teacher. I love the close ups of your fingers.
I'm a 30 yr/classically trained musician and I had a good ol' time learning this with you, Simple and fun. Sooooo genuine. And I love bluegrass/fiddle tunes. I'd jam with you any day of the week.
Thank you so much for putting these lessons on here! I am 62 and got my mandolin a year ago last Christmas and am just not having the time to learn and this is awesome. I don't read music and I learn faster this way. I have it down just need to pick up the speed! Thank you so much!
You are a fantastic teacher. My grandfather was a great self taught musician and loved the mandolin. I inherited his and am planning on playing something for him at his funeral. Thank you so much for your lessons! They have helped me a tremendous amount.
Thanks for the video on Solder's joy. My Father use to play this on his Fiddle when I was a child growing up. You are a great teacher Chris thank you so much...
Hey thanks for posting this. I've been working on it by myself for a bit so this will really help my out. Please post more mandolin stuff. Your very good at teaching.
Great, have learnt something new and you made it seem so easy, your teaching style is excellent, relaxed and with a smile - is there any more of you playing mandolin - have looked but can't find but that's nothing new! Thanks again..............Deborah
Well, I was just in the middle of familiarizing my new banjo with your Foggy Mountain Breakdown lesson (had to get that G lick first though) and here's the mandolin lesson requested. My new mandolin and I thank you.
The Really funny thing is after picking that mandolin all week, the neck on my Gretsch Nashville seems HUGE! SO much Room on there!! Keep up your fine work. Maybe some day I'll make the trek to the Shack!
Thankyou so much this is so awesome you would do this and so quickley now I got to get to learning again thankyou thankyou thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I havent been able to find a teacher in my area
@GAMEREVIEWERMAN Yes, that is correct. The mandolin and the fiddle (violin) are tuned the same. E is the 1st string and is the highest in pitch. G is the 4th string and is the lowest in pitch.
Maybe.. Still have to earn the cash to pay for these instruments. Been plucking around with Foggy for years but never learned it the way you show it. Never got serious enough to master the different rolls. Vids such as yours inspire me to get it right. Your 9 year old students are still better than I am. Just bought my first mandolin at the beginning of the week so I'm quite happy to learn anything I can on it. Maybe one of these days I'll get a video cam of some sort and post some stuff.
Hi Chris you make learning mandolin easey, could you teach how to play here comes the sun. would love to learn that one. 56 years old and this a great hobby keep up the good work
I've just started with the mandolin, after playing guitar for years. Your videos are great! So melodic and so simple. Do you have one for "Salt Creek?"
Great lesson, I have the tablature for this song from a book, but actually hearing it is a great help, great lesson, and nice mandolin, is it a kentucky km 505?
Thank you very much for that excellent lesson.....If you could show me the mandolin break to Vincent 57 by Del Mccory that would be even more excellent. Doesn't mean I could play it though..lol
