Motorcycle Disassembly - Yamaha Virago 250 (XV250)

- Today I take apart the Virago 250. It took a while because I've never done something like this before. It was a lot of fun doing this. I even diagnosed the clutch and fixed the issue it was having. (I'll save that for another video)
Now that the xv250 is taken apart, I can start to restore each part and paint them up. Any parts that don't look worth the trouble, I'll replace as parts for this bike are really cheap. -Stealth

Dude I bought a 91 virago 250 off a guy who had stripped it right back, and now I'm rebuilding it and because of this video I can now figure out where all the little pieces go so big help my guy. Thankyou
These bikes have fantastic engines, they are bulletproof (same engine in the Dragstar 250)
Nicely done! Very thorough on the disassembly. I will have to use this for a reference because I'm putting mine back together now, and a lot of stuff on mine was missing/spliced together, unfortunately.
Great job with the strip down and also the film work. I just bought one of these super little bikes. Subscribed 😃
Nice content,i Buy same bike and now have more knowlage how to repair,THX
El mejor video!! Ademas sin alto volumen de ruido musical!!

Good job! I have started painting mine up (you saw my engine on Facebook 😉) best of luck with yours, looking forward to see how you decide to customise it!
What you have shown is quite informative at least to me who i must admit i am still learning.
Disassembling the engine would be to i believe a lot of your viewers a request.Thanks.
@@MotoGearSolid I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Healthy New year with more intuitive ideas as these undoubtedly help lots of your channel viewers understand a bike's mechanics much better.
thank you!
Thanks. It was very nice to watch.
Awesome. This was very helpful, thank you.
i wish i have a space and do stuff like you have, so i can work on my new used bike. and to say i'm glad you didn't wait for me to buy your bike 😂
@@MotoGearSolid thanks, what are you going to do with them???
alright man I know Ill be checking back!!
Virago super.
I’m doing a project with a 1988 xv250 engine. I’ve been getting all the parts to run it, but I can’t figure out where the start switch plugs in. I tried to use your video but I can’t see it well. Do you know where the ignition and kill switch plug into along with the starter solenoid? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
EXCELLENT video!! Thanks
My crank case is leaking on the bottom right where both halves meet and I need to know the easiest way to pull it so I can re seal it and throw it back in.
Great job sir, and thank you for no stupid music. Now I know a lot more about my 250 Virago. 😀😀😀😀
It looks like you are going to have lots of places where you can modify and personalize your bike.
14:17 I have one a quite bit worse than yours. But when I had it taken apart and I looked inside it and it's all smooth. Does that consider still good?? Despite of appearance it doesn't affect the engine operation.
can we replace the neutral switch easily? cannot seem to find where you removed it
How can I delete all the switches & neutral to start the engine raw. Having bad luck using the virago as a chopper engine.
on my bike opposite side of the air filter, in the plastic pod I have a large second air filter system do you know anything about that and If it can be removed? I have a 2012 xv250.
@@MotoGearSolid yeah your right, I looked online for a video of removal but didn't find anything. Best I could find was a written guide with a couple photos, I'm not sure I'll try it yet. I'm keeping a close eye on your posts for inspiration for my bike! Thanks
Do you have a video of how you remove/assemble the swing arm. Or can you tell me which parts I should get for swing arm assembly?
@@MotoGearSolid I havent found much things on the parts. Does it have an inner bearing between the arm and chasis vertically speaking.
What's that's plastic piece that is between the cylinders that was all cracked ???? I just looked at mine 🤯
Hey man, I have the same bike and need a new front brake rotor. I've looked around and can't find any, got ideas where I can get one? Used is fine too
@@MotoGearSolid okay dope! Any specific brands or things I should be looking for?
Can one interchange parts between xv250 and dragstar xvs250 and up to what year
Plus does anyone here know where to get the manual with torque specs
don't pull on the wires man (at the beginning, watch how he pulls the rear indicator lights)
