    hello friend could you oxidice toluene to benzaldehyde by electrolysis with potassium ammonium persulfate?
    In the third season of hamilton pharmacopea, the mythical uncle fester is interviewed and the method is shown, it seems very easy and has the advantage that it is very cheap, it does not pollute or is carcinogenic like our friend chromil chloride. The metod is electrolisis

    • @THYZOID
      @THYZOID  3 роки тому +1

      If you have a link to the preparation I can for sure try it given that potassium ammonium persulfate can be switched out with ammonium or sodium persulfate.

    Cont: both attempts at making my own ampules flunked out! So now I have been preparing for my chromyl chloride synthesis for the past 4 months now ( buying the proper equipment and supplies) but I really cant find any empty ampules for sale, so I purchased 30ml ulab test tubes with the bakelite and teflon screw cap, hoping I can store it in there. I would think only if you're BUYING it higher than that, from a store or someone, or selling it, it would need to be lower than 15%.
      Who will come to your house to make sure your acid is 15% or lower ?
      I wonder if you can buy car battery acid solution there, as most of it is 35% in concentration. They can't just decrease the concentration for batteries, so then they should also ban lead acid batteries, anyone can open a car battery and get a higher concentration anyways...
      Precursors to sulfuric acid are available, in the worse case you can concentrate your weak acid.

    • @THYZOID
      @THYZOID  3 роки тому +1

      @@Ryan-lc4bl for batteries there is a special law and only “professionals“ (people with a license) are allowed to refill it… it actually applies not only to sales but it extends to mere possession. I’m not going to risk it as there are plenty of (highly dangerous) alternatives to sulfuric acid.
