- Let's chop the top off a big mango tree, then go for a tour!
The Great South Florida Food Forest Project is full of life and now that I'm back in the states, I'm adding and expanding when I get a chance to visit. We were there over New Year's and got some great new plants in the ground, including bananas, cocoa, soursop and a Julie mango. Plus, some much-needed pruning and clean up was completed. Today I work in the food forest and talk about what's happening, plus we see what the entire system looks like.

Love the music and your kooky videos always make me happy in a world that is sometimes just too darn serious.
Amen! to that, love some David the Goofy (I meant Good) gardener.
When I was growing up in Miami my grandparents had a huge Cashew fruit tree, it produced so much that my grandfather would sell it to one of the local stores. It does very well in zone 10B, even in our sandy soil.
That is great to know - thank you, Carlos!
Oh my! That soil is like the beach!
Respect for growing anything but seagulls.
I finally pulled the trigger on ordering some ube, dunno what will become of it but DTG just picks ube bulbils out of his mango tree 🤣
Yes David, it is better 👏👍than grass. Great 👍job 👍👏👌 well 👏 done ✔
Hi !.
Great work.
Harbor freight got a good price on a chipper
Why when I find an unseen (new to me) David The Good video, I will 😎👍as if , it's good, and I'm sure I would agree with myself, GOOD, before even the first few seconds? Wow, that was a thumbfull 🤣😊
They should never allow you to have you wield a machete after your accident with one. Love your vids Mr. Good. Glad you are feeling good.
You should bring your brother on again 😂 do another full garden tour 👍
Lookin' excellent!!! That's an awesome garden Mr. Good...................Grasss, nahhhhhhh

DAVID THE GOOD
Why?
@@davidthegood value added planting
@@davidthegood useful for timber and chop n drop
That was really cool!
Tell us more about the machete at 4:40?
I really need a machete, keep forgetting good to have if anything aggressive comes out of manholes or canals too. I also need a herd of goats, just for protection.
Lovin every minute of it
Ahhhh... ye olde brick 🧱 classic Florida treasure
I do the exact same thing in collecting other people's yard waste and I get a lot of volunteers in my yard. I just noticed some Monstera deliciosa (I think) and was ready to cut them down as biomass (I don't care for ornamentals), until I heard you say they grow an edible fruit. Will have to look into that, thanks DtG!!
You bet.
David the Good in his natural habitat :)
Love Food forest we can all grow something that produces food in our neck of the woods in this day and age I highly recommend it
I just did the same way. I cut off some branches of manggo trees and mow the wild grass on my backyard. I let them decompose by the rain and the sun. I have a huge compost now.
I hope that banana you found dumped wasnt thrown out because it had a disease and then it spreads to all your other bananas 😯
Why not invest in a woodchipper? I love chop and drop, but I wish I could turn it all into shredded mulch so it breaks down faster and covers more evenly. Inspiring me to majorly prune my mango tree
😂 I was gonna say the same
Wood chippers are so expensive though
Yeah, they cost money and break regularly.
Can you rent one?
Confirmed....Wow even at HF $500 for a decent one 😳. Renting is not much better.... for a day from HD is +$60 per day.
It's DTG on a chopping spree !!!
🤣🤣🤣👍😎👍🤣🤣🤣💥🛎
Very satisfying. I haven't been on in a while. Looks like I missed some great opportinities to meet up with you or swap garden goods. Sad.. maybe next time.
It's way better! Stay green. Blessings.
Omg! I’ve been looking for a mulberry tree to get a branch from! I’d better look harder, there must be some around Cape Coral!
Gotta be!
Fallingfruit.org might help you with locating trees
Boynton beach pit stop next time bro?
Can ya grow star fruit in southern Marion County? Summerfield
Yes, in a protected location. I have a video on it. Filmed in Summerfield!
Coconut tree really needs those fronds trimmed up before they become projectiles in a hurricane
You have inspired my going around the neighborhood and taking garden compost. I started a large lasagna garden in my front yard. Last year that was the most fruitful garden in my yard.
Great work!
All the citrus in Florida die now from the greening.
Yes. I do not recommend planting any citrus in Florida.
What is that?
OM G.. just planted orange, lime, and loquat.
I thought he lived in the true tropics. He lives in Florida?
Guess I need to get some goats 😁
All this slashing is oddly satisfying. Does that make me a psycho?
Welcome to the club.
Nice food forest. Wow that soil/sand (lol) looks like my yard and I'm in St.Pete. Do you have any nematodes issues?
what did mangoes ever do to you? ............but provide delicious fruit, shade, and beauty? Don't hate them 'cause they're beautiful.
It's not about hating them. It's about keeping them from getting 60' tall.
Florida? I thought you said you were in Atmore, Alabama?
I am, but I built this food forest in South Florida years ago.
I’d be homesteading in Florida in a second if only they had a hill or two...
We do
We have some tall landfills.
@@davidthegood im not too far from Mt. Trashmore.
A sawzall with a 14$ pruning blade work great if you happen to have one. I became a huge fan of it Vs a machete
I like using a sawsall as well. I used to own one.
Hello, where can I get the Jamaican cherry tree?! Im in South Florida.
Spykes Grove Nursery
@@davidthegood thank you!!!! I’m new to your channel and love it!!!!
Will you stop by your old house.
Not this trip.
David no don't eat the seeds
I just got a star fruit, the arkin cultivar
Excellent. They grow fast.
@@davidthegood yea mines a little tiny graft,, got it in the garage tonight suppose to get under 40 degrees tonight
Do you think Pomelo tree would do good in Jacksonville Fl?
David now that you're back in united states will you ever reveal the name of the country that you were living in before
Yes - I have already. The island of Grenada.
U having probs with white fly on the sweet potatoes? With this cold snap we r now having some of the trees are not looking too happy and the wind is a killer and sucking all the moisture out of the plants.
Wait, where is david? Machete Mike.
Why did he leave the other country
See my stream "The Big Move."
Great. Now I'm obsessing on finding us a Cocoa 'Cacao' Plant. Beautiful looking plant and fun. They look expensive on line. Any suggestions as too where else I could purchase one?
Hard to find inside the states. Try calling the Rare Fruit and Vegetable Council of Broward County.
@@davidthegood Thanks for the heads up. I actually found a little one on Amazon. Looking forward to it!
HEY DAVID...ARE YOU A RESIDENT OF SOUTH FLORIDA? IJA PLZ REPLY, RESIDENT
Aren't you in Alabama now? Maybe I should watch to the end before I ask.
It's his Mother's backyard.
R u in an homeowners association? Am thinking not since some of them are so into being condo commander mode and don’t want anything to be different .
No HOA.
🤣
Careful with that machete my arm knows how dangerous thay can be.
