      Did not understand the signing..his best hockey was before he was getting slammed by aggressive and sometimes cheap shots from opponents. It’s a reality some of the young phenoms get hit so much in first few seasons and their play gets diminished. Not sure I would give huge contracts out..when player becomes a shadow of their entry years. Some players overcome the adversity of this. Hischier and Hughes with Devils. Laine not so much. Crosby did.

    • @methany8788
      @methany8788 25 днів тому +3

      For better or worse, confidence and work ethic appear to be going hand in hand for Pettersson, and he has lost much of his swagger.
      I wonder about the dynamic between him and Tocchet. Seems to be a player who needs freedom for creativity in a system that values structure and grinding.
      That's not the only reason, even if it does play into it, but it would make sense.
      Of course, it would be an explanation, not an excuse. If you want to earn superstar money in this league, you'd better be able to work through issues like this. Then again, if you want to be a coach in this league, you need to be able to get the best out of your players.
      Regardless, I hope that together, they will find a way to open the floodgates for a guy who definitely has the potential to make a difference in these playoffs.

      The thing is though, Skinner didn't get any help last game. This game the team played well in front of Pickard. But he also made saves when he had to.....If the defense plays well, both goalies have a chance to do well. Our defense is what is not consistent, they're capable, but they make bad decisions occasionally. If they stay back and do their job, we have a very good chance at winning. The offense will take care of itself.

    • @dmonsef
      @dmonsef 25 днів тому

      @@user-bi6yf4hv9g You have to stop coming up with excuses for Skinner. He's a big goalie that doesn't move well because he uses improper technique in his movements, and his goalie IQ is very low(not good enough on reads and he gets caught uses the wrong technique to make a save). Skinner is age 25, so he's still on the younger side. I personally feel(I follow all goalies) he was brought up to the Oilers too soon years ago. Either some more cooking in AHL or light backup role behind a #1 goalie, but the Oilers have been pissing on goaltending for a long time ruining McDavid's playoff chances of only winning 2 rounds at most.

Silovs on the other hand will only be 25 and ready for his big contract so why would the Canucks move the younger goalie entering his prime over the older injury prone goalie? Signing Demko at 30 to another 5-6 year deal makes little sense for a multitude of reasons. Silovs if he plays well over the next 2 seasons becomes the Canucks #1 goalie.

    Oilers were great today and beat the Canucks in almost every aspect of the game...however, the reason Canucks tied it was partly because Oilers were brutal in the face-off's in the 3rd period, last 5 minutes they lost 3 draws in a row! one of them led to the Canucks 2nd goal. I think there is nothing more exciting and on the reverse side more heartbreaking than the NHL playoffs.. its the doublest of double edge swords of any sport. Its not always easy to remember that the thrill of winning being so thrilling is exactly why the down of the losing is so depressing which turns to anger usually.. Like all the Ranger talk show is mostly anger, but its really dealing with the heartbreak of blowing game 4 with the ONLY successful power play by Carolina and then blowing the 3rd period lead in a big ugly way their last game..
