I didn't realize it when the designs for WFM's suits were revealed, but I'm really loving this push for protagonist Gundams in major installments to have beast motifs. It's a much needed fresh departure after the Hi-Nu or Wing Zero EW's angel motif became the standard for decades.

Following the Gundam Frames, this series is another departure from the standard Gundam design. What's more, if each of the individual groups (Ochs Earth, Peil House, Jeturk House, Grassley House...) has their own design language, oh boy are we getting a variety of MS designs that stray away from the convention.
The kit pretty much feels like IBO but way more refined, especially in color separation. Now, only time will tell if these will age better than IBO kits.
Considering that this build has no polycaps and doesn't have the narrow exposed waists of the IBO inner frames, this should be able to age much longer.
@@mj2005gundam are IBO kits not good after time? Do they loosen up alot? Ill be receiving a Barbatos and Barbatos Lupus(not Rex) next week and I wanna know if they'll hold up for the next few years on display
@@MeteoraFigure.09 In my experience, IBO kits generally start to loosen up within a few month and would completely start to fall apart without some extra strengthening work done to the joints of the Frames within a year. (Especially for gundam frames, those other MS structure like graze frame or Valkyrie frame doesn't seem to be as bad). My first IBO kit which was the Gusion Rebake. I didn't apply any additional fixing to it's gundam frame, Is now all a floppy mess and is completely incapable of standing nor supporting its own backpack weight.
I’m getting two of them. One for straight Build with panel lines, the second will be my custom color ‘Geats’ Ver. Edit: So I decided to make my Lfrith as Lfrith 02 or Unit 2, a Lfrith with only black armor instead of Pink and have a 02 markings
The first batch of G-Witch kits have graced our markets, the first being the HG Gundam Lfrith. Possibly named after the Watership Down God of Creation, Frith, it certainly did create some promising standards to expect within the line, with its extremely simple build that produces great results, impressive articulation held together like glue, and a load of gimmicks that don't bog down the kit, all for a very cheap price. Let's hope those that follow don't disappoint.
Hopefully so, the Lfrith is definitely special because it doesn't have a lead ball strapped to its leg. The engineers were free to do what they want, which resulted in what we see now
@@mj2005gundam It's clear Bandai learned a lot engineering their Entry Grade Gundam kits and even all the way back with the Gunpla Evolution Project, allowing them to massively optimize builds while still retaining articulation and color separation.
Come to think of it, the L-shaped neck joint reminds me of how Super Robot Wars OG High Grade kits are being constructed. Felt like that one is a test run for the new standards of WFM kits.
Given that all but the December kits have been made into display models, it's pretty much set in stone. Doesn't matter though, the L-neck still provided a good range of motion
After watching the prologue i liked how futuristic this Gundam looks. I also love the beam rifle and shield design, was crazy seeing the shield double as a funnel weapon and also the barrel for the beam rifle. Refreshing to also see blue effect parts and blue beam sabers instead of the pink. Its on backorder on Hobbylink Japan but i put in the order, hopefully they get more stock of it.
Same here, after Prologue, I'm loving the Lfrith from being on the fence. Love the gimmicks, and the blue beams as well. And yeah, Lfrith is hopping off shelves like hotcakes, so I do with you luck getting one

I just turned a TR-1 Hazel 2 into a Custom. It's color scheme has been swapped, equipped with a Fedayeen beam rifle, and uses the anti-ship missile launchers from the FA Unicorn as side skirts. Fully detailed its suweet!!
Yep, if Aerial is somehow as good as, or even better than the Lfrith, all while being cheaper than it, I'd be dropping my mic and glasses at the same time
@@mj2005gundam Not sure about controversial, they work well on the 30MM kits. Hell, if they're the same size then it means you can customize the Lfrith using 30MM parts.

It's very nice to see that Bandai is taking some notes from their 30mm kits as well as the entry grade. This feels like a natural progression from IBO's kit structure in terms of aesthetic while adding the simplicity of an entry grade build with extra accessories. I have high hopes for the Ariel and future kits of this series. I do hope with the Polycap-less build that they don't degrade overtime like the IBO kits have. On another note, it's nice to have a somewhat feminine motif to a gundam design that isn't something from the Build series, or Fighter G Gundam in a sailor moon skirt. Looking forward to this new series.
Yep, I'm surprised at how simple this kit is for the results, akin to an EG kit. Feels nice to see them culminate everything they learned in the past into this line. And to be fair, they're witches, so a feminine aesthetic is hard to avoid. But what turned out is great
While it is sad that the Shell Units don't glow under UV light, frankly most people won't be displaying theirs under such anyway, and it's great that the colors on them are so vivid under normal light. Also, I have a feeling that a red clear coat on the Shell Units would make them look so much better to reflect how they look in the anime.
It's just something worth pointing out, that's all, they still look beautiful under normal light. And what you said about the red clear coat can only work on the standard piece, but it's worth a try to see the effects
@@mj2005gundam Pretty sure a simple coat of clear red on the top side of even the printed piece would suffice for the effect I'm thinking of. Also just noticed that the kit doesn't have an accompanying pattern sticker for the forehead, quite unlike the Aerial. Given the construction of the head that does seem to be an impossible ask at this price, but still rather sad.
On mine, instead of the metallic green marker I made custom stickers using the marker on some leftover silver sticker paper & cutting out my own stickers. Looks awesome
That would indeed look better than shoddily going at it with a marker, I mean, there's more than enough excess to do that on the sticker sheet, which is nice

I preordered this alongside Aerial. When I recieve it, I think I'll proudly display this alongside my High Grades of Barbatos' Lupus forms from G-Orphans. As for the show, considering I heard from a video about the prologue's events that G-Witch is actually going to be a dark anti-war tale a la Zeta and Thunderbolt S1/December Sky, I have a bad feeling what could happen to our heroine Suletta when she begins her travels... I'll be happy to finally watch my first NEW Mainline MS Gundam show, but still...
Suletta might be hunted for being (in possession of) a witch due to Delling Rembran's stubbornness despite Lfrith being a safer machine than all Gundams that came before it. Not sure how Miorine Rembran, Delling's daughter, would factor into this, but the historic witch hunts didn't end because of some descendant of power telling those in power to stop hunting them
The kit looks amazing, the only thing I’m worried about are the C-clips in the knees. Anybody who’s built an HG Leo or any of the Early Grade kits know that those C-clips get loose and floppy incredibly quickly

They do feel similar to the Sazabi's backpack, yeah. And the Pre-Production Lfrith is definitely premium, the work is already done to set that release up
I can’t help but think that the kit has some weird proportions…don’t get me wrong, the WfM kits look awesome…but the super slim waist and super wide chest/ribcage section are going to be something I have to get used to I guess.
Well, to be fair, they're made to be feminine as they're "witches". Whether that hits or misses with the individual is up to subjectivity. Personally, I like it

Like the video said it has no poilycap so I would like to see what the connection points look like for the arms and is it compatible with other series of gunpla. And the black pcs on the chest looks like a good place to cut/drill to install an led. Yep. This is what they could do when they're not fully constrained by polycaps or the universal HG standard. They did slip some of that standard in, to an indifferent effect on the overall kit.
Because the Lfrith is from the Prologue, which was premiered last month. The Gundam Aerial meanwhile comes out in October, the same month that the actual TV anime airs.
There are, but you don't need to use them. I've given a pretty good look at the no-sticker build, the stickers only serve to enhance the parts that are already there if you want them to shine

This is a Great MS, looks are pretty and the colours are subdued but work very well!
The color scheme is uncommon for a Gundam, but it works very well for this design. Easily distinguishable too, so no more "It looks the same" BS
They really be taking lessons from their 30MM line and I am liking it. Imagine the kitbash possibilities.

The articulation on this thing looks genuinely next gen. I am amazed. Now I really have to get my hands on the Aerial.
For something that has body parts made up of under 10 pieces each, this really beats out a lot of HGs in a lot of aspects, articulation included

I like to think of the Lthrith as being the equivalent to the "first" form of the Barbatos.

After a session of messing with it, it's still fine. But, there's no saying if natural degradation would do its number on the joints

heya!! im new to the gunpla scene and im getting lfrith and aerial as my first gunpla, i was wondering what color should i use for panel lining the pink parts in lfrith?
i dont have them yet and id like to prepare and buy the ink needed so i can just get started when i finally get them :>
I used gray for the pink and white. Black will be far too strong.
the pre-production Lfrith is totally gonna be P-Bandai and the pre-production's backpack kinda reminds me of the Sazabi's backpack
They do feel similar to the Sazabi's backpack, yeah. And the Pre-Production Lfrith is definitely premium, the work is already done to set that release up
I might get this as long as the series is good.
If you isolate Prologue from the main series, there's no reason to not get the Lfrith and Beguir-Beu

I can’t help but think that the kit has some weird proportions…don’t get me wrong, the WfM kits look awesome…but the super slim waist and super wide chest/ribcage section are going to be something I have to get used to I guess.
Well, to be fair, they're made to be feminine as they're "witches". Whether that hits or misses with the individual is up to subjectivity. Personally, I like it
if that arm raise joint is also available on the aerial, i expect a last shooting pose somewhere in the series lol

Like the video said it has no poilycap so I would like to see what the connection points look like for the arms and is it compatible with other series of gunpla. And the black pcs on the chest looks like a good place to cut/drill to install an led. But with out going too much into detail, I am trying to make a gundam version of my favorite Monster ( from Monster Hunter ) Crimson Glow Valstrax!

@@mj2005gundam your right! I was just rewatching the video to figure out if I wanted to cut the peg and glue the mid section of another model to open up the option of waist and leg .I would also make it slytly taller.

for someone who built quite a lot of 30mm kit, I'm not a big fan of that c clip joints, it definitely will loosen up over time.
We'll see, maybe a retrospective video a few months to a year later?

They do have an inner frame of sorts, yes, but their build structure is similar to the EG Gundams and the 30MM kits

Yep. This is what they could do when they're not fully constrained by polycaps or the universal HG standard. They did slip some of that standard in, to an indifferent effect on the overall kit.

There are, but you don't need to use them. I've given a pretty good look at the no-sticker build, the stickers only serve to enhance the parts that are already there if you want them to shine
