I don’t think Adesanya should get an immediate rematch if he looses. This is technically his second title reign. So he should get 2-3 wins to show he’s a dominant champ during this reign. Treat it as if he is a new contender who just won the belt. This would prevent a situation where a champ gets infinite rematches if they lose and then win on the rematch.

Very true for pretty much all divisions above welterweight but i wouldn't discount the ability of izzy's camp to gameplan against that, he hasnt had to show that against the top MWs. They train with Craig jones who is a elite no gi bjj athlete and the coaches obviously have just gone through an entire training camp earlier this year focused on improving volks grappling to a level noone expected against an dangerous grappler/wrestler.

I think Izzy takes him. A big Part of DDPs success is his reach - he hits guys (Tavares, Giles, Till, Whitaker) with that long straight right. Izzy’s too long for him to do that to…his best chance is to drag him to the mat and hit a guillotine or darce choke.

Vettori and Whittaker took Izzy down many times. To think that DDP can't take down Izzy is crazy. DDP is also much better with his grappling than Vettori or Whittaker. I got DDP by finish in the third or fourth round.

DDP walking through the division while looking sloppy puts a lot of things into perspective for me. It gives context to a lot of situations. Israel's loss to an old Jan. Strickland, Cannon, Robert, and others getting chased out of 170 and 205. The division is topped mostly by strikers, some who have subpar wrestling skills, and all of whom have physical disadvantages compared to Israel. Israel losing his first fight with Alex, and losing most of the second fight to him (and winning thanks to his gyno-induced KO power), while the guy is still brand new to MMA. Israel needs his size advantage. He needs to fight smaller strikers, and even then, he doesn't look dominant, he just wins. He's not Volk. He is not dominating anyone. 185 is an extremely weak division topped by guys that couldn't contend at 170 and 205. I think DDP is exposing the whole division and I think he can submit Israel, and it wouldn't be an upset at all. I think Israel's entire legacy at 185 is garbage. It's all smoke and illusions. Being the best in a B-class division doesn't make you great, and DDP is blowing all the smoke away and giving us clarity.
