Back then I went into the basement and picked out everything I needed for a self-built Simrig. I also bought a G920, took a 43" HD TV out of the basement, got a car seat for free on Ebay and I've been sim racing with it for 4 years now. And I love it like the first day... ❤
Wow these are great tips for getting into racing at home without breaking the bank. This would be me so it's a great guide for me to follow. There so many options on hardware but you break it down and show us how to piece together an economical setup. Cheap Sim.
Useful video. Perhaps what could make an interesting follow-up video is if you set some budgets - say < €500, €500 - €750, > €750 - and then gave what in your opinion would be the best bang-per-buck for each of those price brackets. Another video idea: "How to start sim racing on PC using VR - what you'll need to spend to get up and running", where you include things like compatible GPUs, which VR headset to get, etc...
When I fitted a wheel on my desk I never removed it. If I play something else I just use the keyboard next to it. Same for everything else too. So I reckon use a wide desk if u dont wanna move it all the time
I just ordered a refurbished G923 with a brand new shifter I’m really excited! Costed me just under $300, like JUST under by like $1 and some change. Straight from Logitechs site. From what I found it’s a 2 year warranty but if I’m wrong please correct me. Thanks.
First thing to consider even no one is talking about, YOU NEED SPACE, dont even consider buying sim wheels with first having enough space, you are not going ti enjoying anything if that's the case
I got a really good deal on a g290 for £100. I've spent more time trying to make my triple screen setup work with assetto corsa than I have actually playing so far lol. Even so, I'm still really enjoying it. Only really doing practise races atm , but really looking forward to getting into some online races when i stop being so monumentally shit.
I went with the r9 csv2 bundle, along with a used pair of clubsportv3’s on eBay. Along with a next level racing foldable seat/stand with a so jack shifter and AliExpress handbrake and it’s been absolutely amazing, the R9 has such a good and realistic response to how the car and road feels, along with the vibrating motors on the clubsportv3’s. And the next level racing chair that’s foldable is kinda flimsy but extremely comfortable, but the vibrations from the wheel and pedals shake the entire setup giving a whole body experience. 10/10 set up, it was a bit costly everything adding up to about 1500$. I also game on a 42inch c3 oled that I put on the edge of my desk so it’s closer to my face, so it also looks amazing. Owned it for almost a year now with about 250 hours and everything holds up perfectly EXCEPT the AliExpress handbrake kinda fell apart and had to fix it myself
@ handles great tbh, sometimes there’s a lot of vibration but I love it, makes it feel more realistic. Used the rig for well over a 100 hours and nothing has bent or broke at all. Still handles great. i really only play asseto corsa
Started off with a thrustmaster wheel and had a decent enough time that it inspired me to upgrade to fanatec, but let me just say this. The difference it made when going to a direct drive wheel was way more than i expected, and the immersion is so much greater. With logitech G wheels still being close to $300, I couldn't recommend anyone buy them new when you can get a DD wheel for just 100-200 more.
Hi, I'd be grateful if you can advise me on items and models to get for my 1st racing sim. I am completely new to this and my budget is £2k. I am looking at track racer tr8 rig but can you advise me on following: - what DD wheel base to get - what pedals to get - what tv and size to get for mounted TV - what gearbox to get - what additional brackets I would need - anything else you would advise Your help is appreciated PS I'll be running a PS5
Alright cheap sim guy. I'm in this nice Middle ground. I've done some work to my g29. I added a custom rim. I got a new spring for my brake pedal. I even upgraded my shifter. That 3D printed mod actually broke and I have to order another one. So I'm kind of at a crossroads. I want to get a quick release and get like an NRG wheel. Or maybe say forget it and go to a whole new environment. But the costs of the whole new environment may be way more than the incremental upgrades I've been doing. But if I did upgrade I would keep the shifter around a little longer because of what I've been doing to it.
I'd say stop the incremental upgrades and save up for a direct drive wheel. The difference in game play is huge. Go for the Moza R5 or the Fanatec CSL DD.
I hope we can get more brands to compete for budget direct drive wheels like the cammus c5. I think pxn is going in that direction too with the v12 lite that includes 3 pedals CHEAP SIM

what sims do you mainly play and how does the chair hold up against the r9?. looking to dive into sim and had similar setup in mind.

@@GeekStreet I've been thinking about it. My latest upgrades are irrespective of the wheel right now.
@@Smoked_Cheddar honestly the upgrades in the long run aren't worth it, but it all comes down to the budget you have available.
