You are both excellent teachers and partners, I appreciate your example. Cheers for your 17 years and Carolyn, even after 9 children, you look like a teenager, a testament to your healthy lifestyle!!! TY so much for investing in our education with your time and knowledge !!!
Never apologize for showing affection for one another. A quick kiss like you do, is a tasteful show of affection. It shows others, especially young people, that love and respect for each other can still be as the years go by. And you two are an excellent example of that.
Admit it you love each other! And I'm very happy to see that. I had 43 years with the love of my life. Been gone now 3 years. So always cherish each other.
I have the sweetest heritage jersey that gives about a qt of cream a gallon. I too freeze as much butter as possible for when she is dry. I also make a ton of ghee. Any excess or by products go to the pigs. Nothing wasted😉. I’ve never made kefir but you’ve convinced to try it. My girl is such a blessing. I tell people that God had me in mind when He created her. Love the rain too. God bless y’all!
Blessings to you all, Happy Anniversary! As for A2 A2...im the perfect poster child for lactose intolerant. I get SO sick with store bought. Ive been introduced to Raw milk slowly then i introduced to A2 A2 milk...WOW!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!. HallayluYAH!. No stomach issues and that creamy deliciousness is Priceless! We now own our own Heritage breed Guernsey & Jerseys and i would change it for Nothing. Im a die hard hand milker and love it! So Happy Milking and keep on keeping on folks. Luv y'all. ❤
I used to make a lot of yogurt, and I used the whey in my "Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day" bread. What I couldn't use up, I found to make a great addition to the compost, as well as diluted for a foliar feed in the garden. Idk if there's any science there, but my plants were sure happy back then - in kinda crappy soil, even.
Happy Anniversary! You have a beautiful garden. Mine is so sad here in Maine. It's so soggy this year that they are drowning. I have one raised bed that is doing well so yeah. We're setting up this year for rabbits next year. I think you two are great together and should NEVER stop showing your affection towards each other! Just saying. Stay safe and God bless you my friends. 🌱🐣🐖🐐🐇🌱
Suggestion for pantry chat or video: what kitchen tools can you not live without? I love your videos. Thank you for opening up your family to share and help us viewers/fans get inspiration and education to grow/raise healthy food and feed our families in a more economical, healthy and natural way getting back to our roots! And Happy Anniversary!!
To be able to honestly say ‘we like each other’ especially after 17 years is a blessing; I’ve talked to so many women who say ‘ I know I love him’ but are not so sure they like him anymore and I think how does that happen? Is it respect;? You appear very respectful of each other. Is it saving a part of yourself just for each other? With all the electronics, Facebook, Twitter, etc; people seem even more distracted & disconnected, so, is it how you communicate? Happy anniversary.
I absolutely love the sound of the storm!!! No problem if you have to yell over it! Also; it's wonderful to see your "public show of affection!" (Belated) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Happy Anniversary!! How wonderful! Don't ever be ashamed about appropriate public displays of affection - we need more pure, righteous examples of love out there! :) What an exciting 17 year ride!
Please please please give us the cheese recipes!! Especially the fast cheddar. I make Mozzarella and ricotta but shied away from cheddar because it took too long.
I would love to see the whole process that you discussed in this video, starting from milking the cow. Like an educational tour. 🙏🏼 This was a dream I had since I was a child, but it never came true, our lifestyle in PR did not help much. I hope to show it to my children and that they can decide to consider it. They are still on time. I love to see and learn from you, even though I can not carry out this lifestyle, I still can learn at least. God bless you!
For the record, I do not care at all if you run over the time and keep on talking, your chats are super interesting and informative, so chat away :-) Milk must be one of the most versatile products on a farm and it always boggles my mind what one can do with it! As I am single, milk can go "off" in summer if I do not get to it quickly enough and I have often just left it out to go sour and separate, then strained off the chunks and made some cottage cheese, tastes amazing
I can't tell you how confused I've been when I see store bought buttermilk vs. the liquid that is actually buttermilk. Thank you for clarifying! So much great information!
That's possible an issue with transferring the use of the food between "German" and "Englisch" speaking populations keeping the names between different usages in spite of language intern naming conventions.
Its good to see affection like that shows you are a bonded pair, Im pretty sure you have some video out with a lot of the dairy products you make, especially like the Dream Cheese in oil and the clabberd milk one's but it would be a good topic to cover again in the new kitchen. Thanks
I made cottage cheese for the first time in my life! And I'm 57!! So I only got 1 pint from 1/2 gallon of milk...seems mind of wasteful...but I did feed the whey to my 4 dogs and they LOVED it! Yay!! What do you feed your dogs??
Great video! Glad to learn about using kefir grains for making cheese as I want to begin making more of our cheese. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. God bless!
Happy Anniversary. Thanks for the great video. Love watching you hugs. Always so inspirational. Always learning things from you guys. Blessing to you and your family.
Happy anniversary! My husband and I just had our 42nd anniversary on Memorial Day. I'm so glad you mentioned ice cream. I inherited my inlaws ice cream freezer when they went into the nursing home. My granddaughter has never had homemade ice cream before. I think I'll make some on the forth.
Happy 17th Anniversary you two! I would love to see the chicken tractors when they are completed. The garden looks amazing! I'm excited to see the new preservation kitchen.
I would love to see a dairy class! Our milk cow arrives on the homestead tomorrow and I am beyond excited! I have been looking forward to this pantry chat for a couple of weeks. :-) I am especially curious about using kefir to start other products and also would love to learn how to do the cheater cheddar! Happy Anniversary!
I grew up around production dairies. I am excited to have my own heifer and will be milking her next year! I was very excited to hear that you can get your cheese making cultures from kefir! Great information! Thanks for sharing.
Watched your most recent video and, with a dog asleep across my lap, this video came up next. I just wanted to throw out the craziest thing I've ever seen - a video from another homesteader showing her gallon jar of milk, and the milk/cream ratio was about 55%/45% - I've never seen anything like it!
Awww love you two.... You two are living my total dream.... Your canning kitchen is absolutely amazing... Your garden is looking absolutely beautiful, and looks like you are truly in the mountains .... Happy anniversary to the both of you !! I share a birthday the same day as your anniversary !!
👏🏻👏🏻I am so glad you are doing Kefir 🌸I have made my first litre but really wanted to see if you do this so it’s made my day! I powder stinging nettles for my dog and he has 1/2 a tsp on his food every meal!
Very interesting!! Didn't know I could use my kefir to do all that, i was just drinking it and buying cultures to make cheeses and yogurt. I wanted to find other methods. This has been so helpful to me. Love having my own dairy cow! Thanks for this video!
I love you guys! I have to say I am at an input overload - I am so confused by all the different processes and byproducts from real milk. I want to get a mini Jersey but now I'm not sure due to the fact that I'm afraid I will have so much waste that it would not be worth it. I'm a newbie and maybe I'm trying to learn to much to fast. Will slow down take a step back and do more research. See you next week!
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this very helpful information. We are just starting out with homesteading here in Australia and we are complete newbies at it.. Your videos a really helping us find our way! So thank you :)
Would love seeing your milk kefir used in the other products like sour cream, yogurt and simple cheeses for the beginner. I have taken ALL of your School of Traditional Skills classes and this would be wonderful addition!
Where in the lactation your cow is also changes your cream line A fresh cow will not have a thick cream line, yet a cow 8 months into her lactation will have a very large cream line My favorite dairy items My cream separater and the food processor (6second for butter)
HELLO THERE!!!! Just a quick note to you both. It is so nice to see such nice couples on youtube and how they respect each other. Keep up the good work and I can't waite to see the next video.
A tool I love is my Foodsaver. Have you thought of using something like this when freezing? I think it’s wonderful for keeping away freezer burn. It’s fun to use and your kids would love to help you out using it!!🥰
Happy belated anniversary! I'm so interested in the kefir uses in your home. I'm going to go look for how to videos about some of this stuff. I just started making water kefir & as long as I don't second ferment too long, I love it. I left a batch to ferment a second time with grapes in it and it must've fermented into a bit of an alcoholic beverage because I had a bit of a buzz after drinking half the glass. I've stuck to just the first ferment because any alcohol makes me feel sick. Off to check out your playlists to find your kefir uses.
I absolutely love your videos! Just to throw that out there, I would like to see Carolyn processing the milk into different the different cheeses, I'm a visual person and actually seeing the process would be so interesting, thanks!
Hello from ND! Got baby chicks and 2100 sq ft garden, meat chickens. Ext yr, then dairy cow. That's our plan. 1 thing at a time to adjust. Thx for sharing!
You mentioned in a video your easy mozzarella and cheddar, do you use a certain reference for recipes you can share please? Love your videos, thank you!
I personally love the real ness of this video, with the location changes, the weather, and even the anniversary celebration. :) Curious about you keifer starter- I get that you continue you keifer day to day, but what did you use to start it? Are grains usually shared? Would you recommend buying a starter grain and then continuing after that? I would love to see a butter class video (or even a class!) and maybe a cheese making class. Thanks again for all you guys do for everyone, I know I love these videos.
Question. When skimming, how much cream do you leave for drinking milk, especially for children? Also, how is percent cream measured, by volume, weight, calories.?
Hi. I’ve been going through a whole lot of your videos trying to find the answer to a question and so far haven’t been able to find it. How many months of the year does the cow not produce any milk, and do you can or dehydrate or freeze milk when she is producing to get through the times with none? Also, you mentioned the farmer’s “cheat” cheddar that you make and inoculate with kefir rather than buying in cultures. Do you have a video on that, and if not could you please do one? I think it’s brilliant to close that loop and produce your own cultures, but would really love to see you do that farmer’s cheddar with it!

Never Ever be worried about showing affection for one another...………..most of us enjoy seeing that...….it is normal after all lol
D Harper I TOTALLY agree!!!!! The world NEEDS to see husbands and wives that adore one another!
Yes, they are adorable! You can tell they really love each other. It’s refreshing.
Suggestion for next week: a tour of the property! The scenic backdrop in this vlog was gorgeous!
The week after the persevering kitchen?
“Be sure to give us that thumbs up!” -my four year old son watching these videos with me, always gives you guys an actual thumbs up at the end. 🥰
Can't wait to see you show us how to do all this butter, cheese, kefir, yogurt at some point 😉! Sounds like another visual teaching moment 😉!
Wendy I agree! Another great online class!

Love the rain. Fond memories.

Sent it to my sister I forgot to add
Happy anniversary
Great video
Yes, ice cream. Don't forget the milk shakes as well.🍦
Happy Anniversary!
Hello from ND! Got baby chicks and 2100 sq ft garden, meat chickens. Ext yr, then dairy cow. That's our plan. 1 thing at a time to adjust. Thx for sharing!
Happy Anniversary guys!! Great video!❤
Happy anniversary! Thanks for all the wonderful information. What's your favorite book about the home dairy?
PDA's are sweet, as long as no tongue is involved IMHO, LOL. You should love each other ! Nothing to be ashamed of. Happy Anniversary!
You mentioned in a video your easy mozzarella and cheddar, do you use a certain reference for recipes you can share please? Love your videos, thank you!
Thank you for sharing interesting ideas!

Question. When skimming, how much cream do you leave for drinking milk, especially for children?
Also, how is percent cream measured, by volume, weight, calories.?
Looking forward to seeing your new kitchen!!!!
Have a great anniversary
I look forward to the kitchen videos about using kefir!
You brighten up my day with every video! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! 💖 💖 💖 💖
Happy Anniversary
Would love to see all the different uses for kefir
You 2 are adorable!
Just wondered if you have any suggestions for how to fix compost that wasn't what you hoped for. Our daughter bought compost from a reliable supplier we have used for years with great success but in this batch seeds will not sprout well, transplanted starts die or the green leaves turn yellow, etc. The kitchen garden is great since it had different compost except for the spot their daughter planted her garden with some of the suspect com[post. So it obviously is the compost. Can the garden be saved? Do they have to wait until next year? How do you amend it so it is safe for next year? Could it have been victim to the newer herbicide aminopyralid?
Please please do a video about your powdered greens!!
Linda Potter- They already have one out!! You will find it under their archived videos. Ive done it many times and they are wonderful. :)
Thank you
Very informative. Thank you!
Your a beautiful couple, God bless you!
Happy anniversary!
Congratulations on the Anniversary! 17 years is nothing to sneeze at!
I sure know when you filmed this :) My garden was quite happy!
I'm just getting into soap making and I'm being told that the whey from yogurt and cheese makes great soap :)
Dolly Perry Just be careful, lye can still burn the whey, and leave you with a yellowed, off-smelling soap product. I would try out freezing the whey just like you would a full milk product, and add the lye water sloooooowly.
@@connorphelps7953 Yes! That is what I have been reading as well. But since I make yogurt weekly and strain it (greek style) I have whey available often. So I am hoping that it will be a good thing for my new craft :)
Dolly Perry Ha! Sorry, I didn’t realize I was signed in as my kiddo. (And now it has my maiden name. Gotta love technology) Please let us know how it goes! I’ve used several soap products, but never whey- that sounds like a fun experiment. Good luck!
