Looks like a good option to smartify budget TVs or projectors with proper streaming service support. Only time will tell how the software support will be as it's a weak point on the manufacturer. Thanks for sharing with us
Yeah, I also have some concerns about software support. Let's hope there will be not too many bugs and that Mecool will push at least one update per year.
I would gladly pay a bit more for more RAM and storage, and also regular updates. After installing Kodi, Plex and other large apps there's not enough room for local content such as movies.
Do you know if this box has Samba software so it can be used as a file server. I'm looking for a box that I can set up with Tivimate as a whole house DVR.
Yeah I got a MECOOL once too, netflix and google licenses got revoked within a few months, hard nope. Plus it never got any update while my xiaomi still got it regularly years after purchase.
I'm always intrigued why people use a TV box like Xiaomi TV box or Google TV box . May I know what it is for ? Because everyone has a smartphone, So we can just install a Netflix app or other TV apps into our smartphones. Please correct me if I'm wrong
@@dongshengdi773 I've always found sticks/boxes much more reliable (in terms of buffering) than casting. Just seems way more easier with a remote as well than messing about with a phone.
This or the Mecool KM2 Plus? I'm undecided, considering the KM2 Plus have USB 3.0 and BT 5.0 but run Android TV, and KM7 plus run Google TV and doesn't have USB 3.0 and BT 5.0 as you claim!
Can I remove Netflix and other apps that I do not want? This is why I am getting rid of Fire TV. Too many posters of movies that I do not want to see. Also apps that I do not want. I want to be able to choose. Thank you.
Do you know if it can use ntfs or exfat formatted sd cards or hard disk drives? To play video files larger than 4gb (fat32)? The other Google TV device I have (Chromecast) is fat32 only, which is why I'm shopping around for another GoogleTV alternative.
Not sure if it supports NTFS. Theoretically.it should, but right now I cannot test this. If you will be happy with an answer after a week - please send me an email as a reminder and I will try for you.
@@TechMishka Thanks for your reply. I've heard back from a few others who say that NTFS is working, even on 4TB drives. I haven't been able to find anything about ExFat though. If you are able to find out anything, that'd be appreciated but I'm pretty sure that it's going to work.

Yeah, a 4/64 option would be nice.

No, google try to limit such apps for their OSes. Perhaps there are ways to make it work though.

@@dongshengdi773 what do you do when your phone dies or goes flat.
Which model was that?
@Pranzé Which model of Me cool box was that ?
Did you press any button to trigger the air mouse or does it come up by shaking the remote?
You may have to press a button
@@TechMishka OK. Thanks.
which one is the latest mecool player ?
km2 plus @ km7 plus ?
Better check their website.
Does audio passthrough in KODI work?
Hmm, I haven't tested this yet.
Nice! I wish this was available when I was setting up my own home cinema.
There always was the Mi Box which is also a nice one :)
@@TechMishka it probably doesn't do 4K Netflix, which is why it wouldn't work for me.
helo sir...wanna ask if this km7plus support wifi6?
It doesn't
What is the Bluetooth version of this box?
4.x
@@TechMishka On their website and other reviews says BT 5.0 !! Can you double check please?
Just got mine, it's cool. But I couldn't find playstore ( am I missing something 😅)
Isn't it on the main screen?

Well, I feel that software updates are more importantnt
Does this have my family cinema
No
anyone have volume issues? Mine volume goes up and down on it's on.
Could be an issue with the remote control...

Sure, you can remove most apps that you do not use.

There are TV boxes who offer 6 to 8GB Ram, mostly around 75/100 dollars at the Chinese platforms.
Yup. Some of them may have bloatware.
If you're just interested in the streaming portion it's a great option, they make high quality products
👍👍
Seems not too bad for the price.
Yup!
Mine heated up and melted.
OMG! Do you have any photos?
@@TechMishkaSorry haha i wasn't sober and was just messing around when I commented this😅
@@TechMishkaI actually just bought one. I got the KM2 to see what it is like, and may upgrade if i like it. I got the KM2.
I dont think theres a playstore
There is.
First
You are! Thanks for the support.
2/16 gb?!🤔😑
Yeeeah...
google asked for work on 2gb
how i wasted 10 mins from my life to watch a tv box that has no basics such 4k or hdr, or dolby features in 2023? waste of time.
It has 4K as far as I remember
It literally has Dolby Atmos and 4K. Even the earlier versions do, like the KM2.
Only 2gig of ram.....JUNK
Nvidia's Shield TV also runs at 2GB RAM...
You don't know much about this sort of hardware, do you?
