Therefore I think that if you learn Tai chi you should replace your master and find another one which is capable to explain you the original meanings of the moves. OR, if you itself reached master level than maybe you prefer one single feature of this martial art above all other. As said in the video, Tai chi is 1) Powerful, so bear it in mind! Hey! I am a practitioner of martial arts and came across your channel while looking for instructional videos of Tai Chi. I've watched a lot of your China videos now which have helped me realize things about my own anxieties and worries about life. I have read through the Tao Te Ching and have been trying to apply more Daoist practices into my life over the past few weeks and i have to say that even over a short period of time, it really helps me not just get through the days but enjoy them much more! Thank you for the insight into a different way to approach life. I have always loved chinese culture and plan to make my own trip to the Wudang Mountains in the future to learn more forms of Tai Chi! I wish you the best of luck in things to come!
That moment when you sat down in your chair after coming home. I know that feeling. It's the best and the most boring feeling at the same time. "I made it, what next. Can't stay here"
8:20. I’ve done martial arts for almost 8 years and I still have battles with my own underminer. I’m always worried about being judged and criticized so I hide my training behind closed doors. I hope one day to be able to live free from those restraints like you learned to do. Stay happy and positive.
Stephan Menge no. Not my problem. My problem is the fact that as a human being I am not perfect. I have flaws as does everyone. And I don’t like when those flaws are exposed. So I’d rather hide than be bold and defeat that voice inside my head that says I’m not good enough.
Your energy from week 1 in the morning to week 7 was an amazing shift to see, let alone the now you, congratulations on the transformation homie, much love

Wow!! Your history is amazing!! I love China and that cultur!! It is my big dream to learn tai chi. I haven't any friends because I'm so shy and I don't like my live. You were very brave to try something new. Sorry about some mistakes but I'm only 13 years old and I'm from Poland😃.
A simplification of an idea taught in two of my favourite books, Hero with a Thousand Faces and Hero Within: When were new (young, beginner) our job is to FEAR and RUN from the serpent. When become warriors, our job is to kick ass and slay the serpent. When we become magicians, enlighten, master of two worlds, our job is to co exist with the serpent.
Found this video by accident. I've been a martial artist for 40 years. Tai Chi is one of the martial arts that have I learned and have added to my repertoire. I honestly have to say that this was one of the most worthwhile videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. 谢谢!! 😊
Very personal and poignant. Your journey was also very relatable. I've had issues with depression and anxiety all of my life. I tried both one on one and group counseling more than once, and know very well what it's like to be infused with prozac and zoloft, but taiji was the only thing that ever really made me, if not happy, at least comfortable to be alive. Enough so that getting out of bed no longer seems impossible, taking a shower and making a meal for myself doesn't seem like climbing a mountain and I don't dread the day anymore. Now I often enjoy it. Taiji is earth magic. Practicing it is a lifelong journey inside your own body and an energizing agent to your mind and soul. So thank you for sharing in such an engaging manner your journey. Both your initial defeats and your eventual victories and your encouraging words. I hope you continue to rise.

I studied martial arts whenI was a young adult. Life got in the way - but your videos have re-awakened that love in side of me. My body has suffered greatly from the abuse I did to it during my hardcore training days... I am in my late 60's but want to start and do what I can. Thank You! In my heart - I would love to give this teaching to every child in school - as I truly believe it brings out the Good In All.
Thank you. I have just passed my 60th birthday and, after half a lifetime of depression and self doubt, this comes into my life. I suppose life/destiny/karma/the universe gives us just what we need just when we need it.
I finally had 10 minutes to sit down and watch this, and I am SO PROUD and SO HAPPY for you! The quality was awesome, the editing great and it gave me chills multiple times. This one of my favorite videos i am at a point in my life where everything seems hopeless but you always inspire me and make feel much better i hope i can find my own way too
Thank you, much enjoyed and highly beneficial to say the least! Particularly impactful part: Taoism / Daoism "The world is indescribable complicated. So when my Under-miner would give me stick about being anxious, I challenge him and say, "I don't even know how I work, so how am I supposed to have everything sorted out." " Indeed! Sure does help to let oneself off the hook from one's own inner-critic and gives then therefore the space to see one's own goodness is enough, while allowing then therefore a healthy better and better to follow.
Great George, love this! Thanks for letting us in on your experiences and putting together the films. I know how hard and time consuming the filming and editing can be but these are looking really good and it comes across well - thanks again!
I’m just watching this and I’ve been diagnosed with heart palpitations, which factors that cause it the most is stress, anxiety, and being overwhelmed....... I watched Man of Tai Chi and have really been looking into it, it’s absolutely beautiful and such a flow, thank you for this video, much love from Michigan, USA 😌💙
George, I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos. I think I've seen them all. You've taken us on a wonderful journey into the ancient wisdom tradition of Wudang Daoism and Tai Chi. You were very fortunate to encounter such an excellent teacher, who also has a good sense of humor. I've been to China nine times and would love to go visit your teacher some day. My wife and I are international spiritual teachers and founded the Pine Mountain School of Zen Arts that is located at an altitude of 5,000 feet 90 minutes north of Los Angeles. Our school teaches all the traditional arts associated with Zen; meditation, tonic herbalism, bonsai (miniature gardening), ikebana (flower arranging), suiseki (stone appreciation), Kyudo (zen archery), and Iaido (the art of the sword). All of these Zen arts have their basis in meditation and develop mindfulness. If Master Gu, or you, ever come to America, we would love to have either of you teach a Tai Chi workshop at our school. Until then, we will be practicing by following Master Gu's Tai Chi course. Thank you for your excellent service by bringing ancient wisdom to the modern world.
I just found you today. You have such a positive energy and are a wonderful and accessible story teller. Truly inspirational - thank you for sharing your experience and you life's journey to date.

I started to learn tai chi a month ago by watching youtube tutorials how to do the correct movements. So far I am really liking it. Sometimes it is just bit tricky to only watch youtube tutorials. I hope that someday I can go and take tai chi classes aswell.
Honestly, sometimes the universe is in synchronicity with you. It feels like a guardian angel or something at work behind the scenes, but in reality is just you that, through intention, "make" events reflect your desires.
This video is so amazing, thank you George! OR, if you want to go into this kind of close heavy boxing fight, you should practice boxing in styles like MMA or Shin-Karate or Muai-Thai. So that you have more possibilities to react properly in these different situations...
I don't know why tears are welling up and I'm feeling so emotional.... triggered by the beautiful, wild mountain, master gu and others in their tai chi practicing attire just got me. You did awesome George and thank you so much. I wish to visit before it's too late for me.
Jacob Russell go to wudang and learn there
Hi Jacob. Any ideas where/how i could begin on a journey like yours? ty
Beautiful film. You are so very lucky to have lived it and we are so lucky you filmed it. Thank you.
That moment when you sat down in your chair after coming home. I know that feeling. It's the best and the most boring feeling at the same time. "I made it, what next. Can't stay here"
This video has even made me cry.. And that happens very seldom. A beautiful experience. Thank you for sharing it.
May your master and friends back in China stay safe. May god stand with them. May he stand for humanity.
Always
So I’d rather hide than be bold and defeat that voice inside my head that says I’m not good enough.
which art did u learn ?
Your energy from week 1 in the morning to week 7 was an amazing shift to see, let alone the now you, congratulations on the transformation homie, much love
I realize I'm 6 years and 4000 comments too late. But this is a true piece of art. All the compositions. Photography. Moments. Humanity. Intention. Play. Joy. It's just so raw. A roller coaster but beautiful edited and the music choice is second to none. Well done George!
Wow!! Your history is amazing!! I love China and that cultur!! It is my big dream to learn tai chi. I haven't any friends because I'm so shy and I don't like my live. You were very brave to try something new. Sorry about some mistakes but I'm only 13 years old and I'm from Poland😃.
amazing!! So glad to hear you've found the channel. Your english is great, don't worry. Good luck with it all!
Be kind to yourself and you'll find other people will be naturally attracted to you as friends - even if you are shy :)
+George Thompson thank you!!
Czarna Mamba Chinese civilians normally treat foreigners pretty kindly and you can actually have a try.
Czarna Mamba i can teach u tai chi if u like. Add me on hangouts
A simplification of an idea taught in two of my favourite books, Hero with a Thousand Faces and Hero Within:
When were new (young, beginner) our job is to FEAR and RUN from the serpent. When become warriors, our job is to kick ass and slay the serpent. When we become magicians, enlighten, master of two worlds, our job is to co exist with the serpent.
Man, thanks for that words.
Cool story!
Found this video by accident. I've been a martial artist for 40 years. Tai Chi is one of the martial arts that have I learned and have added to my repertoire.
I honestly have to say that this was one of the most worthwhile videos I've ever seen on UA-cam.
谢谢!! 😊
Thanks for George, a young Brit who has been seeking the truth of life and has met with a Chinese Taoist Master!
I hope you continue to rise.
i started tai ch in my forties now in my sixties-my high blood pressure has been controlled by it-been in a couple of tussles with people half my age-tai chi self defense worked very nicely-my skills have been just from doing the yang long form-love it

Hi George, really inspiring video! I spent three years studying kung fu in China, competed all across the country, and after all that I still get the 'go inside the neighbors might be watching' voice in my head when I do tai chi in the garden back in the UK. Glad to know I'm not the only one!
Look forward to seeing more of your journey.
Thank you for sharing....what an inspiring journey....will share xx
Goosebumps-tears- totally inspiring-... These videos are healing gifts- so grateful to you for creating and sharing...✨✨✨
I'm really glad you enjoyed! it is my pleasure.
this was amazing! I really connected with this. There is nothing like a video that is loaded with life experience and been developed over so many weeks. Also good on you for spreading the positive message here in the West too by trying to motivate people to take it up. All the best for your journey. Seems like you've made some good progress! Keep it up 💪 💪

I'm so proud of you. I love your use of "the underminer". We all experience it but you gave him a name and a face. Thanks!
NiHao from Portugal. In a moment I'm considering get back in my Taijiquan and Qigong practice, I stumbled on your video. Very inspiring.
Keep spreading the word about Tao, mindfulness, and TaiJi.
We are the sum of all our parts, the Yin and the Yang.

Your comment is equally inspiring! A message from Master
when you parted with your master I had tears in my eyes
Thank you for not giving in to those bad, undermining thoughts. Your video’s make me so happy and I always end up getting emotional. Your channel is special to me. Thank you.
Love what you do. I have been doing tai chi for a little while now and its the best thing i have ever done for myself. Helps tremendously with anxiety and it literally helps me think clearer. I see things so differently as well and i feel better. Theres just so much balance! Loving your videos and I look forward to more!
this is the most badass idea and the fact that you actually did it and stuck with it is extremely impressive
So humbled to have come across your channel. It’s an inspiration to see how you took a huge leap in your life and haven’t looked back.
I found this years ago, when George first put it up on you tube and I felt an instant connection. I was myself on a journey and had newly discovered Tai Chi as well and was on a search. I found George and felt a comradery in searching together. I'm a follower and admirer George :)
Love your video but also your style, so natural and honest. I hope you continue your Tai Chi adventure
glad you enjoyed my friend!
Ten days of editing and you have a superb video, George! It’s really inspiring, and it resonated with me deeply. Thank you for talking about your anxiety and mental health and for sharing the insights and lessons Tai Chi and Taoism are teaching you. Great, great video. 🙏
10 days of editing ;) - I'm really glad you enjoyed it!!
George Thompson I meant to write ‘days’! 😆
“Let’s show the world we know how to live” is a line to remember.
I'm a karate student, but I've appreciated a lot your experience in Wudang! You are a good example for all of us.

I know how it feels, to lose control. This was an extremely inspiring video!
Congratulations on your transformation. Good for you for pursuing your calling and sharing it with the world. Very inspiring!
Dude your voice is super calming it reminds me of Jeremy Wade
you are always welcome to China
thank you friend!
Wow you lived my dream. Getting a master and learning tai chi the real way.
Thank you. I have just passed my 60th birthday and, after half a lifetime of depression and self doubt, this comes into my life. I suppose life/destiny/karma/the universe gives us just what we need just when we need it.
Helo
Woah
I finally had 10 minutes to sit down and watch this, and I am SO PROUD and SO HAPPY for you! The quality was awesome, the editing great and it gave me chills multiple times. Truly gave insight and perspective into your journey and I really enjoyed the "behind the scenes" footage. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! It is my pleasure.
I miss this. I was in China for 7 months, practicing shaolin kung fu. I’m just about to head home and watching this really makes me miss training. I haven’t trained in 3 weeks after training almost every day for months!
I love your advocacy for young people to wake up in our world that you may do something for your self to get up and facings your trials in life
That was brilliant!!! I'm doing a similar thing this October for a year, living with a Shaolin master in the mountains! Gonna share this video, good job 👍

Jannick d'hoore is that the Songshan Traditional Wushu Academy? Or somewhere else? Either way, that's great you have a connection there with your teacher! I'm planning to go to the Xinglong Shaolin School; my background is in Praying Mantis and Kickboxing.

Amazingly beautiful video George, so brilliant to watch your journey. Be proud of what you’re doing!
I'm really glad you enjoyed! it is my pleasure.
Love this! Just started kung fu recently and it’s the thing I look forward to the most every week now!
This is one of the five major styles of Taichi: Chen style. Great editing ! Good to introduce people not familiar with Taichi and the culture behind.
This is VERY inspirational and I have so much love for the Chinese people. They have so much wisdom, passion, hard work ethic and training, and a very beautiful perspective of life that's full of love and peace. It's made me seek out practicing martial arts
Thanks a lot. We Chinese wish you all the best!
Lol, Master Gu was in the movie. That's pretty cool. Cool journey too.
glad you enjoyed!
Omg George Thompson, this is my first time watching you. I just recognised youre such a huge personality! You already now got a place in my list of idols!
WOW !! thank you for sharing your experience!! and you are blessed to train in the Wudang Mountains!!
This is ... by far... the best and real channel I ever saw concerning Daoism, Taiji and how to integrate the „Wu Way(ei)“ in western life. Interesting, respectful, loveable. Thank you so much for your work!
This one of my favorite videos i am at a point in my life where everything seems hopeless but you always inspire me and make feel much better i hope i can find my own way too
Thank you, much enjoyed and highly beneficial to say the least! Particularly impactful part: Taoism / Daoism
"The world is indescribable complicated.
George my friend, you and your story are beautiful. I'm lookin forward to try taiji myself. appreciate all uve shared. bless
Tai-chi,Yoga ,meditation are the best for our body and mind to keep balance and peaceful .
Great George, love this! Thanks for letting us in on your experiences and putting together the films. I know how hard and time consuming the filming and editing can be but these are looking really good and it comes across well - thanks again!
It's my pleasure Stu!
This video of yours made me optimistic about life!
Beautiful.
are u always like this?
i mean, your smile, look so peaceful. no anger, no hatred, no bad intention at all. or is it the impact of learning taichi?

I just learned about rhis video on 8/30/23. So great to see female students with Master Gu! Wonderful, thank you!
Ganga Nath Thanks for your consideration!
Agreed. I'd go further and say George is a conduit, a window and doorway if u will, between ancient and modern worlds. George is the link.
I just found you today. You have such a positive energy and are a wonderful and accessible story teller. Truly inspirational - thank you for sharing your experience and you life's journey to date.
This video brought me a sense of belonging, I honestly started tearing up at the end. Because Ive been struggling with anxiety and depression and to see that it can be better made me happy 🖤Thank you for such an inspiring video ❤
Great film George, I’ve not been feeling great and this was just what I needed on a cold wet Sunday morning - thank you 🙏
Such a powerful video, such a peaceful story, such a beautiful being... Thanks for sharing that 🌹

I started to learn tai chi a month ago by watching youtube tutorials how to do the correct movements. So far I am really liking it. Sometimes it is just bit tricky to only watch youtube tutorials. I hope that someday I can go and take tai chi classes aswell.
What videos? I am more of a step-by-step person. Hoping Hoping when I get more financial stable i can afford physical in-class lessons.
did this dude really just randomly go to china knowing only how to say "gong fu" and come out training under a gong fu master lol
let me tell you : Yes!
I WAS WONDERING THE SAMETHING. CAN'T BE POSSIBLE.
It's doubtful.
Nope
Honestly, sometimes the universe is in synchronicity with you. It feels like a guardian angel or something at work behind the scenes, but in reality is just you that, through intention, "make" events reflect your desires.
This video is so amazing, thank you George! I started with Tai Chi about a year ago and I was fascinated in the beginning but I couldn’t imagine how important it would become to me in such a short time and what a difference it could make! I found an amazing master in my hometown Hamburg, Germany and I‘m learning something new every day. It‘s so inspiring to watch your journey! I‘m a bit disappointed in myself now for not filming the process though (hi Mr. Underminer!) I would love to participate in the montage but I‘m afraid I will be a day late. I‘ll still try and I’m excited to follow your journey from now on!
Anni Rotköpfchen beautiful girl, welcome to China.
i'm in NL . same place learning where George had when I was in University
What were your favorite benefits if you're willing to share?
I love it! The message, music, vibe, video edit and the camera shots
Well done young man. I think you have found your path to peace and serenity.
